Pancakes at Moomin Cafe, Hong Kong
The taste was just ok, but they were super cute and the sauce container towers (chocolate, mango and crème brulee) were fun to play with.

Various items from the udon set and tempura set at Itadaki Zen vegan Japanese restaurant. It’s a small place and you should make sure to leave plenty of time, but the food was as fresh, delicious and beautifully presented as ever. The avocado sushi was particularly outstanding.

The place in question was Nice Ice and this was the (matcha) shaved ice:
youtube
Yoon Jongshin ft. J Rabbit - Patbingsu
It is still too hot here for my liking at the moment. I recently went to have shaved ice at a new place near my new place. It was good. As I tend to do wherever I am, I noticed the music playing. Alongside Janelle Monáe and Regina Spektor, they played this delightful chiptune indie pop track, which starts off very sweet and develops a real crunch. I asked what it was and the guy said J Rabbit and that the song was Korean and was actually about shaved ice.
In the process of finding it, I discovered that it was a new version of a song from 2001, and that patbingsu is shaved ice with red beans specifically, or at least started off that way. Where things got cooler, though, is that it also turned out that at least one site has used 'bingsu pop' as a genre name for a whole category of Korean indie-pop! I love the Ookoorookoo song linked to, with its lo-fi synth loop like a pure crystal lake that the song stretches out in the sun to take in.

Awesome assortment of vegetarian dumplings.
線條手打餃子専門店, Ikebukuro 2-55-12, Toshima-ku (Ikebukuro station) Tokyo, Japan (Happycow page)
This place was a little out of the way and really tiny (only a couple of tables tiny) but cheap and delicious - it seems that there was a reason they were on TV as they were so keen to commemorate!
The (Taiwanese) staff and owner were also amazingly friendly, perhaps partly down to one of us being able to speak a little Mandarin.

Tofu banh mi
Panda Panda, 8 Deptford Broadway, London SE4 4PA
The menu said that the banh mi included hummus which seemed a bit odd but it wasn't especially noticeable. It had just the right amount of chilli, yummy tofu and bread that was the perfect balance between crunchy and flavour-absorbing. It was cheap too, and the place also does Ferrero Roche milkshakes and bubble tea should that take your fancy.

Alice in Wonderland (Shinjuku) restaurant - 魔法の国のアリス
We wanted to try one of these theme restaurants (e.g. Alice, prison, ninja, church, etc.) that are popular in Japan. I guess you go to one more for the decor and the experience rather than the food, it’s more so the case for us being vegetarians, as Japan is not always a vegetarian-friendly place. We decided to go to the Shinjuku branch of the Alice restaurants (there are quite a few inside Tokyo) for lunch, and we were pleasantly surprised that the food was actually OK! If you book in advance, you can probably get those better booth seats, and there are special rooms for groups. The lunch menu is more limited, think the dinner menu is more impressive (see food models in the picture above). The desserts were great, and the decor was so cute! We got what we were hoping for, so we were happy customers! ^_^

Ring plate, including lemon macaron, two chocolates and cream bracelet.
Q-Pot Cafe, Kita Aoyoma 3-10-2, Minato-Ku, 107-0061, Tokyo, Japan
Obviously the main reason to go there is for the amazing presentation, but these were tasty too, especially the macaron.

Our third time at Green Earth following two lunchtimes there on a previous trip. We were in a bit of a rush and didn't get a chance to properly savour the food but it was as tasty as we remembered.

Yufuin was kind of difficult to find vegetarian food in, but it was worth it in the end because this place was so fantastic. The fresh tasting tofu was wonderful.
