Alan Turing, the man who saved the world by deciphering the Nazi Enigma code, committed suicide after a year of being forced to undergo chemical castration as punishment, because he was a homosexual man.
The man who saved the lives of millions was, although not quite, mutilated and tortured. Why? Because he was gay.
This is one of millions.
Don’t you ever come to me whining why there isn’t a straight pride day.
Pride is for the LGBT community because we have endured years and years and years of oppression and injustice and hatred. We’ve been tortured and killed and denied of basic human rights because of our sexuality/gender identity.
Since you all seem to want it SO BAD. Take the LGBT pride march, take the pride month, take whatever you fucking want and give us the systematic and social freedom that you have in return.

Marvel fans: please go see Wonder Woman because it’s not very often that we get a superhero movie with a woman protagonist
DC fans: please go see Black Panther next February because it’s not often that we get a superhero movie with a predominantly black cast
What I’m trying to say is, these movies stand for something more important than your fandom

👻 Spirits and Entities 👻
The existence of paranormal entities is widely debated. Some people have direct experience with non-human and non-living beings, while some dismiss the idea as ridiculous. No matter what you believe, you have probably heard the following terms in reference to supernatural entities and while some terms seem interchangeable, these refer to specific presence.
Spirit - General term for any non-physical entity.
Ghost - The most common term used to refer to a spirit is “ghost”, but “ghost” refers only to spirits of once-living things, like humans and animals.
Poltergeist - The term “poltergeist” refers to two kinds of supernatural activity. One involves spirits, human or otherwise, that cause havoc or chaos. These spirits often manipulate electronics and objects to elicit a reaction from the living. The second form of poltergeist haunting has to do with energies emitted from children or adolescents that manifest physically and cause chaos.
Thoughtforms - Thoughtforms are entities created by thought energy. Though they are usually created for a certain purpose, they can often develop a mind of their own and their own agendas.
Residual Hauntings - Residual hauntings are caused by leftover energy or emotions from a specific event that leaves an imprint in the physical world. These hauntings may manifest as a recurring physical events, such as a certain object being moved over and over again or a specific sound being heard with no source.
Shadow People - Shadow People are figures seen on the edge of one’s vision. They are considered to be bad omens
Parasitic Entities (Demons) - Parasitic entities (including what some refer to as Demons) are supernatural beings that feed off of the energy of a living host or victim.
Doppelgangers - Doppelgangers are spirits that appear in the form of a living person. They are known to appear to a person as themselves to warn them of their imminent death.
Guides - These spirits could have once been human, but do that is not always the case. They linger close to certain people in order to watch over them. These spirits are known to communicate with mediums.

Go Back To Mexico
TW: Rape, Racism, Racist Slurs, Xenophobia
So I’m going to rant for a little bit about some really messed up racism and xenophobia happening in the USA. My significant other’s parents were immigrants, born and raised in Mexico, and my significant other is the first generation of their family to be born in raised in the US. That said, my SO speaks 5 languages fluently, is an MD and PhD student (he is currently researching a cure for a rare and deadly type of child bone cancer), and is genuinely a shy person, who never brags, looks down on anyone, and isn’t close minded at all. We were at the mall and we were discussing (in private) how much Trump is going to hurt POC, the disabled, and the poor, and how worried we are. We talked about how much of an ass Trump is, and this rude redneck entitled piece of trash inserts himself into our private conversation to defend his precious Cheeto baby hands president. My significant other told him that we weren’t interested in conversing with him, and that’s when it started. The inbred skid mark proceeded to yell at my US born SO to go back to Mexico if he didn’t like Trump, that my SO is a damn foreigner (he also used other racist remarks that I’m not even going to write) who probably “snuck through the boarder” by selling drugs and only lives here to pick crops and do the jobs no American wants.
I was LIVID, but I didn’t want to speak over my love, and they wanted to defend themselves. My significant other’s response was the most patriotic and wonderful way to respond to a person like that.
My SO said, “You don’t belong in this conversation, but your white entitlement thought it was okay for you to insert yourself where you don’t belong. I don’t owe you an explanation of my life, but hopefully this will be a lesson for you. First off, my parents were born in Mexico, but Mexican is not just my heritage. Before the Europeans raped, colonized, murdered, and committed atrocious acts against humanity all to uphold a racist structure in America, my ancestors were here first. I am Native American, my family was living in "America” long before your family ever stepped foot here. I’m also a bit European, but not by choice, since the Natives were raped and forcibly used as sexual objects for Europeans. I have more right to this land than you ever will. Furthermore, I was born right here in this State, so the USA is my home. My purpose in my country is to actually make it great, not just promise to make it great like our joke of a president. I practice medicine and I research cures for cancers *pulled out medical school, and PhD school IDs, as well as the research facility ID to show the ignorant racist* Also, it’s very much patriotic to criticize the government, if we couldn’t and had to just agree with whatever our leaders wanted we would be a dictatorship. So please walk away, and take your unwanted opinions with you.“
The racist looked bewildered, and stood there in awkard silence with wide eyes for a couple of seconds before he did the "head-nod” and walked away.
TLDR: My significant other experienced a racist jerk, but shut him down with an epic response that made the racist redneck white boy shocked.

The Moon Just Photobombed NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory
On May 25, 2017, the moon photobombed one of our sun-watching satellites by passing directly between the satellite and the sun.
The Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, orbits Earth and watches the sun nearly 24/7 — except when another body, like the moon, gets in the way. These lunar photobombs are called transits, the generic term for when any celestial body passes in front of another.
Transits are one way we detect distant worlds. When a planet in another star system passes in front of its host star, it blocks some of the star’s light so the star appears slightly dimmer. By monitoring changes in a star’s light over time, scientists can deduce the presence of a planet, and even determine what its atmosphere is like. This method has been used to discover thousands of planets, including the TRAPPIST-1 planets.
SDO sees lunar transits about twice a year, and this one lasted about an hour with the moon covering about 89 percent of the sun at the peak of its journey across the sun’s face.
When they’re seen from Earth, we call lunar transits by another name: eclipses.

Solar eclipses are just a special kind of transit where the moon blocks all or part of our view of the sun. Since SDO’s view of the sun was only partially blocked, it saw a partial eclipse. Later this year, on Aug. 21, a total eclipse will be observable from the ground: The moon will completely block the sun’s face in some parts of the US, creating a total solar eclipse on a 70-mile-wide stretch of land, called the path of totality, that runs from Oregon to South Carolina.
Throughout the rest of North America — and even in parts of South America, Africa, Europe and Asia — the moon will partially obscure the sun, creating a partial eclipse. SDO will also witness this partial eclipse.
Total solar eclipses are incredible, cosmic coincidences: The sun is about 400 times wider than the moon, but it also happens to be 400 times farther away, so the sun and moon appear to be the same size in our sky. This allows the moon to completely block the sun when they line up just right.
Within the path of totality, the moon completely obscures the sun’s bright face, revealing the comparatively faint corona — the sun’s pearly-white outer atmosphere.

It’s essential to observe eye safety during an eclipse. You must use proper eclipse glasses or an indirect viewing method when any part of the sun’s surface is exposed, whether during the partial phases of an eclipse, or just on a regular day. If you’re in the path of totality, you may look at the eclipse ONLY during the brief moments of totality.

A total solar eclipse is one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights, so make your plans now for August 21! You’ll also be able to see the eclipse cross the country that day through the eyes of NASA – including views of the partial eclipse from SDO – on NASA TV and at nasa.gov.
Learn more about the August eclipse — including where, when, and how to safely see it — at eclipse2017.nasa.gov and follow along on Twitter @NASASun.

ADHD is so weird how it switches itself up on you. Like, some days I’m watching Netflix but it’s not enough stimulation so I have to be on Tumblr while watching the show to not be bored. And other days if my dad and sister are just talking at a normal volume while I’m trying to read, it stresses me out and puts me on edge to the point where I feel physically nauseous and end up snapping at someone because I’m too irritable. Like, why?

-Having to stim right before bed to calm my body and mind -Loved ones getting angry at me for my bad memory - Everyone thinking that I'm really ditzy, and helpless/shaming me because I forget where I put things and why I went into that room. Hearing, "Just strap yourself in and study, no distractions" The general misunderstanding of my actual intelligence
How does adhd affect you? If you don't mind me asking. My friend he adhd and I want to be there for him.
Pretty much in the ways you’d expect tbh–
Focusing on anything I’m not at-that-moment interested in is practically impossible.
^Especially if it’s reading large paragraphs of text, even if I am interested in the topic that kinda focus is hard.
I have little to no perception of time 9 times outta 10.
Talking to authority figures or about myself generally is not a fun time due to RSD.
On focus again– on worse days I won’t be able to read/process the words I’m looking at on a page if someone’s talking in the room.
More recently, the nonverbal bouts I’ve mentioned due to brain overload for one reason or another.
My brain goes a mile a minute in a very roundabout and seemingly disconnected ways, so sometimes in conversation I’ll blurt out apparently totally unrelated things that I actually got to logically, just way too fast;
My memory is terrible - like, good lord.
It can be hard for me to focus on conversations / for people to get my attention if I see something interesting.
Sensory overload– personally I got it whenever I used to go to church, for example, ‘cause there were so many sounds and sights and smells and you have to stay still and quiet throughout it but my brain was just freaking out internally the whole time. But anywhere with a lot of sensory things going on can set it off.
Kind of sensory overload related (??)– sometimes my meter for conversation will hit rock bottom by the end of the day but somebody will still wanna talk and I’ll just be there flailing on the spot both physically and mentally ‘cause processing any more interactions just hurts.
Stimming: it’s not something I realize much until I think about it, but for example; personally, at work I feel weird without my lanyard cause I’m used to the weight of it and tend to play with the keychains on it or pop my nametag in my mouth while I’m walking around – idk it’s kind of a grounding thing – kinda like those totem things in Inception, haha.
there’s probably stuff I’ve forgotten tbh (like I said; memory problems, lmao) but that list looks long enough – all these things obviously differ in intensity from person to person, but hopefully that gives ya some insight on what might be up for if ever your pal seems a bit off at all
(Y’all feel free to reblog this too btw, might help spread some understanding)
