Every time I do my skincare I think about physiognomy and how beauty is seen as a sign of moral superiority and how close the beauty/skincare/hair care communities get to open racism, ableism, and fatphobia

Acne is physically painful/uncomfortable but as I try to get rid of it I feel responsible for reminding myself that no one is better or more disciplined or genetically superior for having a more attractive face with clearer skin. It is so easy for people to go from the ideal skin to the ideal facial proportions/features to how to enhance or reduce unique physical traits so we can all be closer to looking young, white, and skinny
