Came to the realization that God made the conscious decision to create a good many birds with mimicry capabilities advanced enough that they can imitate human speech down to the voice and tone, and I just.

I know mimicry has lots of uses in the wild as far as survival and courtship needs go, but like? Human speech?

And it's not even just one species of bird, it's parrots, some corvids, and this weird critter called the lyrebird? Also the myna bird???

I feel like an incredible amount of my stress could be simply obliterated if I only had a quiet Sunday Mass followed by the opportunity to hold a Smol Birb for an extended length of time

I will forever be amused by how the chicks I named after Din, Nayru, and Farore have turned out as adults. They do not match up very well At All.

Like, they're just. Critters. Incomprehensible creechurs.

Farore: flighty beast, noisy but not the noisiest. Scraggly. Had blu-kote stains for months, adding to the disheveledness.

Din: the most skittish thang in the flock. Do Not Touch, Will Scream. Feathers untouched by other beaks. Pristine. Hates contact, will kick and thrash and rail at the skies if picked up.

Nayru: Anger Beastie, bites everyone, bites everything, bites me, also jumps onto the nearest person or perchable thing so she can feel Tall. Feral creature. Somehow not at the top of the pecking order (???).
