❅ regarding eidolon’s future

Hello everyone! We hope that you're having a wonderful day. A lot has been happening over the past few months, some good, some bad, and of course some memorable, but I'll get to the point: Eidolon Path will be closing down for the foreseeable future as of today (July 6th, 2019).

It has taken a lot of thinking and discussion on our part to come to this decision, but we feel as it it's the best choice that we can as us mods continue to grow and gain new opportunities and goals for our futures. Everything that begins must eventually end -- and right now, it's Eidolon's time to pass on. We know that this might seem rather sudden, and we apologize for that. In truth, this subject has been agonized over for the past few months or so: we love the group, but we don't have the resources to keep running Eidolon with the vigor and polish that we've tried so hard to maintain during its lifespan. 

We have to thank everyone that decided to join into our little pet project of an MFRP -- whether you joined recently or were here from the beginning, and whether or not you still roleplay here or have moved on elsewhere. We can't be more grateful that you decided to try out this setting that we put our all into creating. The Great White has never been welcoming, but, somehow, you managed to make your mark here, both in the snow and in our hearts. We'll never forget you!

As of today, all asks and processing will no longer be responded to, as all of the official Eidolon Path blogs will be transformed into keepsakes and no longer logged into by the mods. It will be an archive for all things Eidolon-- because, while we are closing the group, should you still want to use the setting for anything roleplay related, you will be free to do so! Everything will be left available, we just ask that you be respectful: while you are free to use the concept, please don't claim it as your own. The mods worked very hard to make this world, and we would like for that sentiment to be preserved. 

Again, we have to thank you for all of your own contributions and cooperation in this time that we've been open. You've all been incredible! While we're saying goodbye, we do hope that we'll see you all around in this constantly changing and active roleplay community (or anywhere else, really).

i miss you dearly, tenderly. we have all breathed and lived and grown and survived and yet you are still such a stranger to me. 

sun, oh sun, when will you light the way to harmony?

On the day that the child breathes with no pain in their chest, the village sighs in relief. 

The rush, the panic, the clamor, all of it seems to just melt away once that breath was taken. It was more than just that: it was hope. It was the sign that this would finally come to an end. Carina wakes up with a smile and embraces her dearest father and sister, the black spots that had riddled her body fading away. Even the Children of Mareula seem to be in good spirits: the normally avoidant and side-eyeing group gathering together with the other children of the village and dancing about, playing all the while. 

It’s peaceful. The most peaceful that it’s been in a long, long time.

It's what makes the goodbye all the more painful, really. While Adonis tries to reason with the group to stay ("We have plenty of room," he had said, a frown clearly hidden behind his mask. "It wouldn't be any trouble at all."), Amarus and Ambrosia look to each other and sigh, denying the hospitality with a somewhat reluctant tone.

"We need to go back to our Mothers." That is what one of the children had said, having snuck up behind one of the twins and hiding behind their cloaks. Ambrosia picks them up and coos, before turning back to the mayor. "I'm sorry," she says, giving a melancholic smile, "They're right. And this village is just… too sad.

"I can't imagine being happy when you're all being strung around by such filthy beliefs."

The Children of Mareula are a small, mysterious group, one that people of the Great White would never have dreamed of meeting in their lives. A ragtag gathering of youths that worshipped the moon and sea, not even bothering to pay Diaidem Herself any mind, nomadic in nature and always… searching, searching for something that was just out of their reach.

You watch them round up and count their numbers, being sure to have all of their supplies and provisions provided by the village securely packed, placing all of the smaller youths onto a toboggan sled and strapping the reins to their belts. They look small, so, so small. How had they managed to survive in this place? Why would they just leave what, by your opinion, seems to be the best deal in keeping everyone alive. Certainly, Eidolon is not perfect, but… 

Diaidem. It had been because of Diaidem. What was supposed to be the benevolent envoy of the sea and snow had scared off even the most innocent of souls, their figures beginning to retreat into the distance under a bright, shining moon. Compared to what the village was based on, it… it hadn't made any sense. You don't understand.

Even in the dark, the light of skies above still shine down softly at you. You could have sworn that from above, you could feel something -- no, someone…

…

There's too many questions you have right now. And the answers to them…

You'd just have to keep seeking them out, no matter what.

can the muses get sick from this starsickness? is anyone else other than that one kid ill?

hello there!

for the simpler question: other than the one child from the children of mareula, only carina, lepton’s daughter, has starsickness. this might change as the event progresses, though at the moment we’re sticking with those two.

as for muses: yes! if you would like to contract this mysterious illness to make your participation in this event more interesting, you’re free to. 

as a note, a small synopsis of starsickness symptoms is:

black spots all over the person’s body, notably in very star like shapes

high fever

prone to hallucinations 

eventual coma if left untreated

this mainly affects children, though honestly, newcomers don’t have the same defenses that the villagers do, due to being a bit new. take that as you will.

and so the moon and waves laughed with small voices. "the sun?" they said, sporting mocking smiles. "what a lonely, cursed thing."

The days are long and the air is sweet. With spring comes summer, and with summer comes life. The world has bloomed into a land of vibrant flowers and soft grass, inviting adults and children alike to roll in this newfound plush warmth that Eidolon has provided.

Of course, the Great White will never be without its own share of dangers. Whistles still persist in the wind, large game still evades the hunter's hands -- but, still, the people persist. They grow, they adapt, and they continue to live on. Such is the way of life for these people. Everything will become a routine to handle with grace and care one day, or so they hope. So when the heat hits, when the spring enters with a much stronger punch than the years prior, the residents pause, unsure and cautious. What other new variables would enter the stage in conditions like this?

It comes in the form of gold-lined fur cloaks.

A few shouts of exclamation are all you need to abandon what you were doing to seek out the source of the noise. In the dark evening air, a hoard of strangers drag themselves into the village, some more worn and weary than the others. Something that you note is that most of the group are small -- their heights are barely more than four feet, some even shorter than that. One of the taller ones, holding one of these travellers to their chest, makes a beeline for the village hall, as if they knew exactly where everything was in the place.

Adonis is already at the door to greet them, clearly perplexed with a name sitting on the tip of his tongue, but the person beats him to the punch in terms of speaking. As their hood comes off, mismatched eyes of blue and yellow stare intently at the mayor. Even from here, you can hear the desperation drowning out whatever malice might have lurked underneath their demeanor.

“The sickness,” they say, and Adonis’ eyes widened in surprise. “It has awoken.” Their cargo is held up to the man, and from where you are, you can see small, cherubic features, wracked in pain and malaise. Black spots dot the child’s face, something that you’ve never seen before. “Please.

“Please, help us.”

Welcome to Eidolon Path’s third event: Starsick Yet Homesick! A group of strangers have entered the village under the fall of night, seeking out the village head and asking for assistance treating some mysterious “sickness”. As the newcomers settle into some unused bunkhouses, a name comes to light for the little group: the Children of Marelua. True to its title, the group is largely made up of children, lead by a pair of twins known as Ambrosia and Amarus. They know the cure to this “starsickness”, they say. They just need help to bring everything together.

❅ what is starsickness?

A mysterious illness, the people of Eidolon have never seen such a disease before. It is contagious, and the victims are easily identified by the black spots covering their skin -- and is notably severe.

❅ activities:

Eidolon is no stranger to illness and strife -- especially if the coming of spring this year was anything to go by. The Children are an unusual group, though, and the villagers find themselves stumbling through attempts to both understand their customs and save their lives.

Seemingly lacking any belief in Diaidem, they follow a pair of goddesses that they affectionately refer to as the Mothers. While it isn’t exactly something the village can understand, abandoning children is out of the question. There is much to be done to attempt to find a cure for the starsickness, and much more to be done to earn the Children’s trust.

Gathering: The Children know the cure for starsickness -- but if it was easy to acquire, they wouldn’t have turned to the village for help. Not only found in dangerous locations, the items needed for the elixir are scattered across the Great White, making it difficult to gather without splitting up the coordination between others. There are two ingredients familiar to the residents of Eidolon -- jackalope horns and crystal branches. As for where to find the key ingredient, a so called ‘fallen star’... the Children swear they are found in the depths of the Rubrum Hole. Best to read up on where to tread, and tread ever carefully.

Homesickness: Their Mothers have not been around for a long time, the Children say with forlorn looks. They want to make objects to better remember them by. Ambrosia has left behind the instructions needed to make these simple crafts, from dream-catchers to small pouches of “star stuff” -- a mixture of smooth rocks and sand. It's your duty to bring a fresh supply of these materials when needed. Perhaps, if you are good with your hands, you would like you make your own as well?

Babysitting: Amarus and Ambrosia are busy searching for the ingredients to the elixir themselves, leaving the rest of the Children behind in the village to be looked after by others, much to the pair’s chagrin. The remaining children are a mature bunch, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Remember to treat them with respect and do whatever you have to to make sure that they stay healthy... and possibly even happy. Working in pairs is recommended. 

Q&A: In order for things to go well, one knows that cooperation is key. Ambrosia and Amarus are not happy to be here, but they know that they must be, and will do their best to answer any inquiries that you have of them. Make sure to check their information in the resident directory, and send a question or two to the Alpine Aurora should you want to know anything. It’s best not to wander in the dark.

Item Retrieval: In order to get help as fast as possible, the Children of Marelua have had to leave behind some non-essential objects to make travel swifter. However, there’s been a mistake: some of the younger members of their party have left behind their precious keepsakes, which have only invited tears and more anxiety. The cargo has been left near the Snowhouse, but you’ve heard that there is a large gathering of Whistles around it now, seemingly attracted by the travellers’ activity and the shine of these objects. Try your best to avoid combat and bring both yourself and their treasures in one piece -- but if you have to fight, you have to fight. Be careful.

The Children are expected to stay in Eidolon for two weeks, from jun.22.19 12:00 EST to jul.06.19 12:00 EST. Following the event close, you are free to continue any threads that are already started, but may not begin new ones. No surprises this time, but be sure to begin any threads before the end date if you would like to take part.

hii, soma here. i know its been a long time and im not even certain that we're still on the masterlist, but can you put a hiatus up for chuuya nakahara from bungou stray dogs, sandalphon from granblue fantasy and to extend orions osamu dazais hiatus? he does not have a working computer at the moment so he asked me to do it instead. thank you so much

Hello! We are sorry to inform you that we are unable to put a hiatus on both Chuuya Nakahara and Sandalphon, as neither pass activity at the moment.

In the case of Osamu Dazai, his semi-hiatus ran out two weeks ago and we had not removed it from the masterlist due to a clerical error. Dazai also cannot be placed back onto hiatus due to the fact that he does not pass our activity requirement.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience.

Edit: Upon reexamining dates, Sandalphon was reapplied on the 20th, which makes him eligible for the hiatus! That was my mistake, and he’s on hiatus until July 14th.
