Shippers get a lot of lashings for being annoying and “forcing romance” but not enough is being said about people who force the nuclear family structure on everything. Nothing against found families, but the amount of people who seem to cram every dynamic into a cookie cutter nuclear family mold is driving me insane. It’s another lowkey reductive way of engaging with characters that pretends to less reductive than the shippers they constantly complain about. Not every relationship can be categorized as “sibling coded” or “father-daughter” because most relationships are more complicated than that. Don’t even get me started on the way these people use “coding” *cough* their headcanons *cough* to shut down ships they dislike.

Breakdown:

Prep (model turn around and base): ~2 hours

Base Sculpt: ~4 hours

Retopologizing: ~13 hours

Painting and texturing: ~27 hours

Rigging: ~ 2 hours

Scene setup: ~1 hour

Animating: ~2 hours

Rendering: 4.5 hours

Vo-Tan was unreasonably difficult to texture. Apparently centaurs do NOT appreciate UV unmapping. In the end I used smart UV unwrapping because after over 20 hours of baking, rebaking, repainting, and rebaking i finally took it as a sign from the blender god. For that reason this model isn't really professional grade and has a lot of artifacts even after hand touching up the normals In the future I'll look in to splitting in to multiple UVs.

Final sculpt: ~1 million verts Riggable base: ~5,000 verts

releasing my knight rider oc out into the wild...her name is Christine Lance but goes by Chrissy and she's a menace who likes loud music and hates figures of authority. and also an orphan as of like...1981? her mom was a woman named Amy Lance who had a one-time thing with Garthe Knight ~15yrs prior that ended badly (as most things do with him) and who died in some kind of accident within the few years leading up to when kr takes place. but yes that does make Chrissy Garthe's illegitimate daughter whom he never knew/cared about until it was somehow advantageous to him lmao.

ax's human morph being super androgynous due to bring an equal mix of male and female traits is already a win for gender but what's REALLY a win for gender is that every single time one of the other animorphs tries to describe him they go on and on about how disturbingly attractive he is. in like every single book they do this. they're all like "it's weird how attractive he is due to being a mash of genders. i don't want to harp on about it but what's important for you to understand is he's hot as fuck. his genderless swag bewitches and confuses me. what is 'bisexual'"

The animorphs are so tight, codependent, and gatekeepy that I can only imagine the absolute nightmare that it'd be for someone outside of the group, especially someone who wasn't involved in the war at all, to try to date one of them.

Like, Ronnie might have gotten the easiest time of it since the group was so fractured at the time. He probably only got a, "haha don't you dare hurt her or else" from Marco that was probably delivered in a very sardonic, jokey voice (but was absolutely a very real threat).

But after the One debacle, in a world where all of them live to have actual love lives? Being introduced to your new romantic partner's very close, very powerful, very deadly friends? Yikes.
