Now I'm not particularly a fan of the "RWBY will become maidens" idea, but I did just have a thought regarding it. Do you guys remember the post-credit scene of Volume 2 where Yang meets Raven and we all decided that was foreshadowing their conversation in the vault at the end of Volume 5? What if instead that scene is meant to foreshadow Raven seeing and passing on her maiden powers to Yang, like the scene we saw between Penny and Winter in Volume 8?

we should globally ban the introduction of more powerful computer hardware for 10-20 years, not as an AI safety thing (though we could frame it as that), but to force programmers to optimize their shit better

This quote perfectly summarizes the message of Audre Lorde’s The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action speech in 1977. Lorde was an intersectional feminist and civil rights activist, with this speech encouraging other women to speak out against the oppression that they face. Many people believed at the time that remaining silent on certain issues would gain them favor with their oppressors and keep them from harm, in this case women living under the patriarchy, but Lorde believed that the best way to ensure your rights and safety, at least in the long run, was to speak out about what you want and what you are against.

For reference, the quote comes from Sojourner Truth's Ain't I a Woman speech in 1851, where she spoke about equal rights for Black women, which was ironically mis transcribed by Frances Gage, a white abolitionist, to reflect how he thought Truth spoke. Truth was an abolitionist and became one of the figureheads of first wave feminism alongside the likes of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. While feminism and feminist at the time battled racism, economic oppression and sexual violence, one of the main accomplishments they achieved at the time was securing women's right to vote with the 15th amendment.

So, when talking about what gender looks like in the future, one of the ideas that was proposed by Meg John Barker and Jules Scheele is that of a genderless society. Now calling it a “genderless” society implies that the concept of gender just does not exist anymore, which is one variation of what that society looks like, but another version they propose is a society with more than the two genders we already have. This is what the Chad means when he says “All or nothing”; Society should have either all possible genders or it should have no gender at all.

What Sonic is saying here is a quote from the book The Invention of Heterosexuality by Jonathan Ned Katz. In this book, Kantz argues that heterosexuality is a social construct that has been pushed to become the status quo of modern society since the early 20th century, and in fact is not a universal truth. The quote itself suggests the idea that, once people begin to dismiss the construct of heterosexuality, they will be able to truly start to understand the different ways a person can experience sexual attraction, as well as how that attraction is portrayed and acted upon.

For reference, the quote comes from Sojourner Truth's Ain't I a Woman speech in 1851, where she spoke about equal rights for Black women, which was ironically mis transcribed by Frances Gage, a white abolitionist, to reflect how he thought Truth spoke. This quote comes from Anne Fausto-Sterling, an American sexologist who has done extensive writing and research on gender identity and the perception of it, sexual identity, and intersexuality. The term “intersexual” is used to refer to individuals who possess sex characteristics and genitalia that are not distinctly male or female, or a combination of both. The existence of intersexuality and intersex people disrupt and go against the standard conservative belief in the gender binary, and the distinct differences between men and women associated with it. The disruption and diversion from these beliefs give way to transphobia, a dislike or prejudice against trans people, a label that may include intersex people.

For reference, the quote comes from Sojourner Truth's Ain't I a Woman speech in 1851, where she spoke about equal rights for Black women, which was ironically mis transcribed by Frances Gage, a white abolitionist, to reflect how he thought Truth spoke. I hope in the next movie theres a scene where Miles has the people of New York looking out for him like we've seen in the Tobey and Andrew movies. It would be a great way to show the impact Miles has had on his world since the first movie, but more importantly, it serves as a reality check/fuck you to Miguel because it would effectively be the universe saying "even if he's not the first, or even if it wasn't meant to happen, Miles IS Spiderman and that can't be taken away from him."
#bonus point is Miles G or his parents are involved#miles morales#miguel ohara#across the spiderverse#spiderman#atsv#atsv spoilers

RWBY Volume 9 feels like, to me, the Fullbring arc from Bleach. By that i mean the arc is dedicated to doing a deep dive into the main character's mental state and people hate it and call it filler.

So like a day or two ago I saw a post saying that they thought Ruby would ascend and transform into Summer because that's who Ruby's been trying to be for the entire series, and while I do think that that's what's going to happen in the next episode obviously she's going to turn back into her normal self, which is probably going to be caused mainly because of Yang.
Now I'm sure many people would hear that idea and assume it would go something along the lines of Yang realizing it's Ruby and try to convince her to be herself again, which is a possibility but I would like to propose a different take. Yang sees "Summer", and while she doesn't realize that it's an ascended Ruby, she would obviously know that it's not the real Summer. I think her seeing this on top of what happened in the last episode would cause her to have a breakdown similar to the one we saw Ruby have in ep. 7, which would serve two main purposes.
The first would be Yang having to confront and accept whatever negative feelings she may have towards Summer. After all, Summer contributed to the development of Yang's abandonment issues just as much as Raven, but also left her the burden of having to mature much faster than she ahould have to help take care of both Tai and Ruby. Now whether or not Yang ACTUALLY blames Summer for this, considered she knows now that Salem was involved in her disappearance, it doesn't change the results that came of it, and it's the one familial relationship that we haven't really gotten Yang's full thoughts on, so now may be the time to start that.
The other purpose of this confrontation would be for Ruby's sake. Like I said before, if Yang has a breakdown like Ruby did, she's going to lash out in anger, which will probably result in her saying things along the lines of "you're not her" or "you'll never be her". Now obviously this won't really mean anything to "Summer" as she's likely either going to have no idea who Yang is or she will "remember" Yang and react accordingly but it will be in the way Ruby THINKS Summer would act towards Yang. Either way, the things Yang says about not being Summer are going to resonate with whatever is left of Ruby essance, as one of the key components that's been presented about ascension is that the heart remembers even if the mind forgets. So even if Ruby's old self has been buried under her new one, Yang's words are still going to mean something to her because, even if Yang didn't know who she's really talking to, she's saying what Ruby has been needing and/or wanting to hear her entire life, that she doesn't have to be like her mom, that she SHOULDN'T be like her mom, but she should just be HERSELF.

I have a lot of thoughts about Ruby and Jaune's breakdowns this episode but one of the things I noticed that I haven't really seen anyone else point out is the different levels of self-awareness between them in this scene. Yes, neither of them are in a good head space and are both saying and doing things they wouldn't normally do as a response to trauma, and it's completely understandable WHY, but I noticed that between the two of them, even when emotions were at their highest, Jaune was still able to acknowledge and admit that he was out of line and everything he had been doing up to that point was a trauma response. Yes it took Weiss interjecting a little but he still did it. Ruby, on the other hand, seems to get worse when the others try to say anything to deescalate, and while she probably will acknowledge these same things as Jaune, there's a solid 50/50 chance that next episode she doubles down and tries to bury her emotions further or admit these feelings to someone like the Cat or the Blacksmith, which is ultimately going to lead her closer to ascension. But just focusing on this episode and looking at how, at their lowest and surrounded by people that not only want to help them, but they themselves want to have help them, it say so much about how low Ruby is that she would choose to run away from everything than accept that help and acknowledge her feelings in a way that's actually healthy.

💉 HRT ANNOUNCEMENT 💉
YOU NEED TO ASPIRATE BEFORE INJECTING.
I’ve known many individuals who were never told by medical professionals to aspirate, which is unacceptable on behalf of endocrinology. This is an extremely important step because if you accidentally inject into a vein, you can literally die.
“I’ve never aspirated and I’ve been fine” until you’re not. “My doctor never told me to aspirate” because trans healthcare has yet to be standardized and is a work in progress. “The area I inject in has little to no blood vessels” but there are so many people who don’t know which areas are safest and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
How To Aspirate: Stick yourself with the needle and then draw back on the syringe. If your syringe fills with blood, you need to reposition your needle. If it doesn’t fill with blood, you’re safe to inject there.
Signs that you’ve injected into a vein: — Stroke — Shortness of breath — Coughing — Chest and/or abdominal pain — Low Oxygen — Blood clots — Slurred speech — Headache — Swelling — Tenderness
Literally just aspirate because it takes 2 seconds and can save your life.
Please share this post so that this practice becomes more common!

its so difficult to explain the absolute dread and fear to Americans about the Queen dying because they leap immediately to jokes and memes or rolling their eyes and asking if you're a royalist.
babes....they've planned a national MONTH of mourning for when she dies. all programming shifted to mourning the Queen, and god knows it'll be tory brainwashing.
a funeral costs around 12 million for a prince!! how much is it going to be for a Queen!! a new coronation's price???
the things this black hearted government will cut, or shove through parliament, under the guise of mourning?? the martyring???
energy bills are predicted to rise to £7700 ($8800) a year, do you understand how this can be twisted? inflation to 24%? they're already using the war in Ukraine as an excuse, but this??? gold mine for them.
I'm not saying don't make your jokes, but PLEASE understand if a British person seems horrified and shell shocked because We Know What Comes Next but even then, not under such a fascist and authoritarian government in such a poverty inducing time.

This is a good time to remind everyone to swap from Apple to Android the next time they have the means and need to get a new phone
Android phones are almost universally...
Cheaper
More durable
More customizable
Faster & more reliable
Less likely to remove perfectly workable features just because they are "old"
Better for pirating media
Y'all have got to stop enabling Apple's insistence on being a fashion brand rather than providing electronics that respect your autonomy and decision making powers.
Next time you have a choice in the matter, go Android. One minute of being able to actually browse your file architecture without jumping through proprietary bullshit and you'll be hooked, I promise.
