It's 4:40 AM. Everyone that I know that is both reasonable and reasonably near my time zone is asleep. Resting comfortably, I hope. I'm not. I can't. I can't sleep. I don't know why.

I now exist in a strange space between hours of wakefulness. Time does not pass predictably here.

I look at the clock. It is 4:45 AM. An hour passes. It is now 4:47 AM. I watch a couple TikToks, it is now 5:31 AM. The birds are singing and sunlight is creeping onto my windowsills.

You will be awake in three more hours.

I leave TikToks like voice mails; I was thinking of you. Maybe you'll like this. I hope you're dreaming nice things. I hope this brings you joy in the morning when you wake up. Like a cat leaving 'gifts' on your digital doorstep.

I hope you don't find it strange, waking up to messages missed while you slept. I will drag myself from bed at 11 AM, hours after you awoke to your alarm.
