Liam Mairi x Female Reader
Flight Jacket
Summary: Envy isn't a pretty colour on Liam....
A/N: I might have mentioned a modern book that's very obviously not in the Fourth Wing Universe, and it may be a teeny tiny bit controversial. But it's the first book that came to mind in that scene 😭😭 So please don't hate me if you hate that book!
It'd been a month since Threshing and although I was getting the hang of flying fairly quickly, there was that annoying fish hook maneuver that I couldn't get right no matter how hard I tried. So I decided to get help from an expert, who happened to be my squad leader.
I had just finished class and was roaming the gardens before I would head over to my room, when Dain approached me and offered to give me the lesson now, as he had duties later.
"But I don't have my flight jacket right now," I remarked, looking into my bag.
"That's okay, I have a spare," Dain smiled, reaching into his bag and handing it to me.
Dain's jacket was much bigger and undoubtedly comfier, warming me up.
Dain spends the next hour shouting over instructions to me as we soared through the air, and by the end, I actually managed to execute the damn maneuver. Barely.
"Thank you so much Dain. Genuinely." I say, as we head back over to the interiors of the quadrant.
"No problem, Y/N. And keep the jacket," he adds when I start to take it off. "I can tell you're cold, your cheeks are flushed." He laughs. "Return it tomorrow."
As I'm entering my room, I'm surprised to see the light already on, and a certain spiky blonde boy sits on my bed, reading the It Ends with Us kept on my nightstand.
I flush, either from the fact that my very beautiful boyfriend is reading my dangerously indecent book, or maybe it's cause my room's toasty warm compared to the freezing air outside.
"Liam," I exclaim.
Liam looks up, a slow smile spreading across his face as he sees me.
"There you are, love." He hops off the bed in one graceful jump, and strides over to me.
He kicks the door shut behind me, before pushing me against it and bringing his lips to mine.
I make a surprised sound, not expecting it, but quickly melt into the kiss, my arms circling his neck and pulling him further down to me.
"I almost went out to look for you, sweetheart," Liam murmurs against my lips. "But then I got caught up in your enticing book," he chuckles, as I turn even redder than I thought possible.
"Stethoscopes, huh? That's your thing?"
"Shut up, Mairi."
He gives me one last hard kiss, before pulling back, licking his lips.
His fingers run down my neck, slowly, whispers of a touc. "Where even were you, swe-" Liam pauses, the warmth vanishing from his eyes in a flash.
His gaze falls to his fingers, now resting on my clothed collarbone, the black jacket sporting two stars, and the squad leader patch.
"Who's flight jacket is this?" Liam says coldly, his forehead crinkling.
"Relax, Liam," I chuckle nervously. "It's Dain's. I was flying with him to get that fish hook shit right."
Liam doesn't look relieved at that. If anything, his frown deepens.
"Aetos? You flew with him? I told you I'd help you. I'm just as good with it."
"Yeah, but he's a second year. More experienced."
"I'm just as good and you know it," he says pointedly, stepping back and moving back towards my bed. "And I already told you I'd help you, didn't I?"
I stare at Liam's retreating back. "I'd asked Dain too, before you'd offered, and he approached me today, so would I refuse?"
Liam flops down onto my bed.
I sigh.
"Oh come on, darling," I huff, walking over to him and plopping down beside him.
"You aren't really anno-"
"Take off his goddamned flight jacket."
"I-"
"Just take it off, Y/N."
"What's gotten into you, Liam?" I shrug off the flight jacket, carefully putting it on the bed beside me, but Liam reaches across from me and chucks it ahead, aiming for the chair, but it misses, landing on the floor.
"Liam, what is wrong with you, idiot?" I rush over to pick up the innocent jacket and hang it on my chair. "Stop acting like a territorial asshole."
"Was wearing his flight jacket part of the lesson?"
"I-"
"I bet he'd helped you into it too, right?"
"What the hell, Liam?"
He shakes his head.
"If you're going to be like this, you can get out of my room. I'm not dealing with this right now, I say, moving to the other side of the bed, away from him.
There's a long pause, before Liam sighs, and turns to me.
"I'm sorry, love. I trust you. It's that git I don't trust."
"Oh shut up. Just because Dain's nice to me doesn't mean he likes me that way. I am allowed to have friends. And he gave me his jacket cause I didn't have mine, and I was cold."
Liam bites his lip, running a hand through his hair.
"Love... I'm sorry I got a little jealous. Just seeing you in that oversized jacket, looking flushed and glowy in another man's clothes ignited something possessive in me." He crawls over to me, and gives me a kiss on the forehead. "Sorry, sweet girl" he murmurs.
I feel the anger drain out of me at his words, and I bite my lip, before sighing.
"It's fine, Liam" I look up at him and give him a soft smile. "I can't stay mad at you if you're going to be this sweet and accept you've made a mistake."
He grins.
"I love you."
"Love you too, beautiful", he says.

My first post on here!
Liam Mairi x Female Reader
I'm in my bed, reading over those damn notes for Battle Brief, when there's a knock on my door.
"Who is it?" I call out, a little confused.
"Ghost," a distinctively male, and distinctively attractive voice that sends shivers up my spine calls out.
Liam.
I hop out of bed, running to the door, and grinning as I open the door.
"Couldn't keep away cou-" I pause, my eyes wide.
Liam's grinning, his eyes twinkling, correction eye. One eye is in the process of swelling shut. His nose is bleeding, a cut on his lip.
"Hey, love".
"Liam Mairi, what the fuck happened?" I ask, stepping back to let him in.
"Tiny fight, nothing too major, some second year."
"Doesn't seem like a tiny fight."
"You should have seen the second year" he mutters, as I push him onto my bed and run to get my first aid kit.
"Why were you fighting in the first place?"
I sit down next to him, looking over his body for injuries.
A small gash on his arm, but his shirt was black, so I couldn't see any wounds.
"The prick was talking about 'that hot Y/L/N', and how he'd like to 'get a piece of that'. So naturally, I had to knock some sense into his thick skull, and maybe knock some teeth out of the mouth that dared to mention shit about my girlfriend."
"So the fight was about me?"
"Yes."
I sigh.
I take some cotton and pour some disinfectant on it. I step between his legs, assessing his face.
"This may sting."
Liam hisses as I wipe the nastiest cut on his forehead. His hand moves to rest on my waist and squeeezes lightly.
I move to the next cut above his eyebrow. Liam's hold tightens, and I press my lips together, his touch distracting.
"That stings."
"It should."
I feel Liam's eyes on my face, as I clean the other cuts on his face, before stepping out of the circle of his legs to get some gauze.
As I step back into the circle of his legs, Liam's hands rest low on my waist. A little too low to be innocent.
"Liam," I warn.
"What? You're close to me, I have to touch you. That's like putting water in front of a thirsty man and asking him not to drink."
My cheeks redden as I sigh.
"I'm dressing your wounds, silly boy."
"And it hurts," he pouts. "I need distraction."
"Don't distract me," I say with a huff, putting a bandaid on the biggest cut on his face.
"Are you done with the nasty cut on my forehead?"
"Yeah, " I say.
In the same breath, Liam's hands on my waist, push me forward into him and I gasp as he flips us over onto the bed, him on top as he slams his lips to mine.
He moves slowly, carefully, savoring the touch. After a while, my hands tangle in his messy curls, as Liam's roam freely down my side.
"I have to do the rest of the wounds," I manage to say between kisses.
"Forget them," he says. "I have a beautiful girlfriend who needs my attention more than I need hers."
