Even after they graduate, Neil and Andrew still have their matching clothes; matching armbands, coats, even phones, ect. But in adult life they are constantly matching everything, both having matching Polaroids of them asleep cuddling (via Nicky and his lack of survival instincts) in their phone cases, Neil still unable to shop for himself so with Andrew mostly giving up on him having a sense of style, ends up buying two of whatever he buys. Their entire wardrobes become interchangeable to the point they just don’t bother keeping to their own clothes anymore

This eventually ends up with Andrew wearing Neil’s professional teams hoodie to training for his opposing team and getting scandalised looks from his teammates. This carries on, Neil’s teams logo socks and sweatpants and hoodies. Andrew’s team thinks it’s a joke at first, in Andrew’s dry and ironic humour, until it starts to get under Andrew’s teams skin.

They bring it up with him because press has started catching on when he gets papped outside the stadium in Neil’s team hoodie on after a game and rumours start about him joining Neil’s team.

Andrew just started at them and they brush it of, knowing they won’t get an answer.

Then the olympics comes around and Andrew and Neil are both playing for USA team

They win gold and at the final buzzer of the game Neil runs to Andrew in goal, knocking into him and tackling him to the floor of the court with a kiss.

Obviously the crowd is shook, and Andrew’s teammates are watching together back at home

And they’re like

Oh shit

How did we not connect the dots

And in the press conference after Neil and Andrew have their phones in hand then face down on the table where you can just about peak matching Polaroids showing through their clear phone cases on their matching phones

Somehow Andrew’s teammates jaws manage to drop even more, and none of them can look Andrew in the eyes a solid week into practices when he returns because they feel so idiotic and still can’t believe they didn’t pick up on any of the signs.
