she sat and mourned a moment
And once she sat and mourned a moment
For being, for passing
For daring to rear its ugly maw
And yet she sat and thanked it
Tears streaming from her eyes
For being, for passing
For digging its way inside her heart
And opening itself a cavity called home
For filling it with tenderness and sorrow
And settling inside with a warm heartbeat of its own
She sat and mourned a moment
And she smiled.

Try
A colored hope of desperation
Sickening, she weaves her thorny branches
Into my heart
Unguarded, open, vulnerable
And she takes it for her own
Dear goddess of destruction
If only you could spare me from your ire
I promise I am trying
I promise I will try
And yet,
It never seems enough
Not for you
Not for I.
