Craftwork / Arte del Oficio (工芸 "Kōgei")

Description:

Ryan Flores, a skilled Nen user and veteran Terrorist Hunter, possesses a unique ability called Craftwork, or Arte del Oficio ("Kōgei" in Japanese). This ability allows him to enhance objects by engraving them with powerful Nen Inscriptions, improving their functionality and performance. However, Craftwork follows a strict rule: it can only enhance an object based on its original purpose.

Using his mastery of Divine Script, Ryan can infuse objects with enhancements that fit their intended design. For example, he can make a sword sharper and stronger, improving its effectiveness in battle. However, adding elemental properties like fire or lightning is outside his ability because it changes the sword’s true nature. Similarly, while boots can be enhanced for better agility or jumping, making them capable of flight is impossible. Even with firearms, Ryan can increase their range and power, but he can't fundamentally alter how they work.

The core of Craftwork is Ryan's deep understanding of the objects he inscribes. He uses a special pen charged with his aura to engrave inscriptions that enhance attributes like strength, speed, toughness, and dexterity. He can even give objects Nen-like effects.

Ryan’s inscriptions come in three levels of complexity:

Foundation Inscriptions: Basic enhancements that strengthen an object's core attributes, like durability or structural integrity. For example, reinforcing the grip of a weapon or making armor more resilient.

Augmented Enhancements: Intermediate-level upgrades that improve an object’s functionality. Examples include sharpening a sword for better cutting, increasing a gun’s range and accuracy, or boosting the jumping ability of boots.

Exemplar Amplifications: The highest level of Ryan’s craftsmanship. These enhancements elevate an object’s purpose to extraordinary levels. For instance, a baton can be inscribed to cause bone-breaking pain on impact no matter the actual force behind the hit, or a rope can be enhanced to paralyze someone completely when bound.

Conditions:

Ryan must fully understand the object and the enhancement he wants to apply.

He must use a special tool infused with his aura to inscribe the object.

Limitations and Weaknesses:

Ryan’s enhancements are limited by his understanding of the object and the amount of aura he can expend.

Inscribing objects requires significant time and concentration, so large or complex objects can't be done quickly.

The enhancements are temporary and fade over time, requiring periodic reapplication.

Ryan can only inscribe 10 objects at once.

Objects with limited abilities can only be enhanced to a certain extent.

Vow:

Ryan has sworn to never take a life with his own hands. As long as he doesn’t directly cause someone's death, he believes he remains innocent. This vow strengthens his Nen Inscriptions, making them more powerful and lasting longer.

If Ryan breaks his vow and intentionally kills someone, his Nen ability will be lost forever.
