So, I kinda, sorta wrote a jessix fic, and I'm not sure if I want to post it here or not. I was thinking of just posting it anonymously on AO3 because I'm a bit scared to post it here.

I'm a good writer, I know that much, but the fandom has gotten so judgey lately, and I'm afraid of that. This is probably the darkest fic I've written to date, about 75% Kix whump and 25% soft jessix, and it's over 10k words.

I'm not asking for people to read it, but I'm so anxious that I'm gonna get judged for it and be shunned by this side of the fandom, too.

Any thoughts or words of wisdom from the writers in this community?

Nonnie- you forgot the completely unreadable because they're in neon text with a pastel background! Those are common on the externally cutesy blogs and pages that when you look closer spew some of the most vile hate you'll ever see.

I haven't seen anyone "complain" about dni's, but I have seen people making fun of really dumb dni's. And if you're confusing someone taking the piss out something with complaining about it, there's lot of the reason why proshippers may "make fun" of dni's:

Vague dnis that fail to communicate properly [basic dni, which can range from proship, to bigots, to queer people. "Basic" tends to change from community to community]

Overly rude/hostile/childish dnis [proshits DNI >:(!!! I'LL KILL YOU WORTHLESS PEDOS WITH A BAT!!! KYS!!!!!]

They're hidden behind an unlabeled, mile long carrd making them impossible to find

They don't follow their own dni [aka, interacts with proshippers or cross tags and then gets upset when people tell them not do that]

Contains buzzwords that can be, and are in fact frequently used against lgbt people to discribe proshippers [freaks, degenerates, perverts, groomers, pedos, etc] making them sound a bit suspicious

Only putting them in bio/pinned post and not in their tags or by adding a banner to their posts. No one has the time to check every account they may like or reblog from, this site wasn't built to be used like that.

But even then, just because we may make fun of the dumber dni's doesn't mean we won't respect them. I think male gamers who don't want woman gamers interacting with them are dumb, and I'll make fun of them with my friends, but I'll respect that boundary and leave them alone.

So yes, we want people curate their own experience, we just also want people to—if they're using a dni to do so—communicate clearly like an adult.

Oh, and maybe grow some thicker skin if people joking about something in their own spaces annoys you so much.

Every time I see on twitter or on tumblr a post or bio that says "<insert whatever they hate here> hard block me right now!" typically in the tags of the thing they hate, I have the near unbeatable urge to reply "block me yourself, coward." It does my heart good, anon, to see I am not alone.

saw a proshipper dni tag on a writing advice post that had NOTHING in it about shipping at ALL and honestly? honestly. i think that was the straw that broke this camel's back. i no longer give a shit abt dnis if you want me to not interact then block me yourself coward

respecting peoples dnis is a courtesy and is not mandatory which is why blocking is a much better way to enforce your boundaries

thoughts on clonecest?? surprisingly, i only considered it and realized was a thing when stalking bookmarks from authors i liked works of, and i dig it! i feel that considering the situation and role they're put through only other clone would be able to understand one another without a doubt. i guess why i never realized it was a thing it's because i was in a fandom space that is really fixated on them calling each others brothers and only seeing them being shipped with their generals/jedi around them but also i remember noticing it was quite popular when i saw posts of people reminding the fandom that they're 'brothers' and it would be disgusting to ship them with one another... considering that they're part of a universe that canonically has clonation as something real, clones being with one another is the least of their worries i gather

I think clonecest is hot and normal and honestly less of a weird power dynamic than Cone/Jedi. I have no problem with weird power dynamics (obviously) but I am always baffled when people think shipping clones with one another is somehow raises more ethical questions than with their military superiors?? Not to mention the fact so many people don't even address the ethical implications of a CLONE ARMY in the first place. Like how! The mental gymnastics.

Anyway. I also think the Clones are called brothers but...they're not brothers. They're brothers in arms and have solidarity like brothers but their experience is so insanely specific and complex there's no real equivalent. And non-clones imposing "brother" onto such a unique relationship they frankly cannot understand of empathize with in full seems unfair, let alone fans acting like it's incest to ship them. Like you said, the Clones are only capable of understanding each other's experiences. They are individuals, TCW makes a lot of effort from moment one to tell us that, that each clone has his own personality and drives and perspective, so there's literally no reason why romantic and sexual feelings wouldn't arise between them sometimes like...literally any other individuals.

Anyway. If people are squicked out by clone ships then fine! I have no problem with squicks. It just bugs me when people act like it's morally wrong.
