Firstly sorry for being absent this past month but between school, other projects and personal stuff I've been really busy. This situation will probably carry on for a while so I will not be as active in the near future either.

However as you can see I have not forgotten about the Eclipse comic! This scene is actually one I've been wanting to draw since the first planning of the fic. But since the chapter had some other interesting moments I may do other short sketch stuff :3

Last one of the background studies I did.

I had a different idea for the colors of this one but I gave up midway. The result is still cool tho.

This style of backgrounds looks really cool but it's long to make, anyway I hope these drawings helped me get better at backgrounds and that you liked seeing the little rbg travelling ^^

More possession stuff ^^

Sorry to all Lloyd fans but I couldn’t resist doing Kai and Morro, I love their parallels too much.

My interpretation of how a "Morro possesses Kai au" would be:

At first it's the usual possession but it's very violent since Kai has a bad temper. Morro agressively possesses him and breaks into Kai’s memories against his will.

But Kai is stubborn and angry and doesn't let Morro hurt Lloyd. So after the fight Morro digs deeper into Kai’s memories to see what he can use against him.

Morro finds himself relating to Kai and tries to manipulate him to betray the ninja and work with him (going as far as to showing Kai his memories)

Kai still refuses to hurt the ninja and shifts the narrative "why go after Lloyd when you can go after Wu?".

Kai basically learnt what Wu did to Morro and him and gets angry and wants to get revenge on him.

Morro is conflicted into what Wu did and his love for his only father figure. But Kai is also conflicted because on one side he relates to Morro but on the other Morro tried to use his body to hurt Lloyd. In the end I think Kai would choose his anger towards Wu and try to convince Morro even if he has to do so by manipulating him because as much as he's empathetic, he knows he can’t save Morro, and can’t get easily over the fact he wanted to harm Lloyd.

It would be interesting that at some point Morro had to fight Kai because he wanted to attack Wu and the ninja of course misinterpret it and still think of Morro as a villain.

To sum up they'd try to manipulate each other and end up exhausted from fighting the possession.

I love exploring the duality of broken villains.

Hi! I just stumbled into your Kai! Villain AU and it seems very interesting. If it's alright, could you give a little overview of what the premise is? (I want to know what I'm signing up for before I start reading it. :D)

The fanfic is named Eclipse and it's an evil Kai fanseason set after Crystalized

After Kai is rescued on a solo mission by a mysterious woman (an oc of ours), he slowly begins to question his place in the team and in Ninjago. In fact, he questions even if Ninjago is worth saving, and wether or not his family and friends would accept him if they saw his true self. With a little dark magic involved as a plot device, he will start showing his nastier side as the voices inside his head consume him... Akatora, a relentless vigilante who hunts down vicious criminals will start haunting the ninja's dreams

(Just to clarify, these aren't intrusive thoughts, they are amplified doubts and fears through magic).

But the focus of the fic is the ninja (including Kai) and how their actions and interactions aren't black and white. Everyone is acting how they see fit in regards to the situation, and we're trying our hardest not to fully antagonize any of them: both parties are doing some fucked up shit, but humans are complicated, so our actions are complicated, and as a result here's Eclipse :).

There are lots of angst for everyone so basically be ready to suffer/j and don't be too scared of the tags ;)

Hey there! So I've just come across your blog and saw you have a (super duper cool) Ninjago AU. Sorry for the delay but it's finally here. This was a longer comic but I hope the wait was worth it.

For clarification we do not hate any of the ninja in particular! We love all of them but the angst is also for all

Though we are having trouble writing some characters like Jay so any analysis (posts, fics, etc) about him (or the other ninja) is very welcome and appreciated <3

I'm slowly rewatching ninjago and guess where I'm at.

I'm also trying to analize the characters more and Morro’s story hurts so much. Worst part is that Wu genuinely cares about him but lacks the insight of what he did and what Morro went through.

I'll probably draw more possession stuff.

In your “Meet the Artist” piece, I saw that you also like Monkie Kid along with Ninjago. Just curious, have you drawn any crossover art of the two?

(To be honest, the two fandoms need a crossover…)

They definetly need a crossover!

Monkie kid is my second fav show and of course Mk, Mei and Red son are my favourites so I had to draw them interacting with the rgb siblings <3

If Kai and Mk meet they would get along (tho there is a 70% chance Kai would adopt him)

I wanted to add what happens when you send me ideas for art: most of the time I add them to a list of future drawings I want to make (and even if I don't I usually re read yours messages so I won't forget). However it may take a lot of time for me to do them (depends on the idea) or I may never do them or how you'd expect. But I love when you send me ideas or messages <3

Heartsteel x Ninjago

I got hyperfixated on Heartsteel when Paranoia came out so when I saw the art I had to do some myself. Also bc I wanted to do Kai as Kayn (I added a Rhaast version too)

(Maybe I did too many but I couldn’t resist the pretty outfits. Go big or go home!)

All the characters fit so well but I was conflicted with Jay and Lloyd bc aesthetically the outfits fit them but personality wise I think it would be the other way (mostly bc I can't imagine Jay mute). So I did a drawing with them changed (plus Rhaast as Akatora and Pixal as Alune):

Here are some fics that I really liked because I thought they were interesting. I loved the way the characters are written, most of them are Kai centered, angst (check the tags for any triggers) and short. Also these are some we used as reference for the characterization of the ninja in Eclipse.

(idk how many recs you wanted so I put a lot)

They turn the light on and it's burning up the sky by Sugarglider_s : very short and poetic Kai analisis angst fic. Absolutely love the way it's written and the interpretation of Kai's character.

Hello my old heart by Bemmiecake : this is a long unfinished fic centered around Kai in the timeskip between seasons 3 and 4. I had to add it because it is definitely one of my favourites, this fic has made me emotional multiple times. It's heartbreaking how Kai has to go through his awful coping mechanisms as the Red Shogun and how he ends up finding a sliver of hope in the process. It also features a well built oc!

What gets out comes around by fruitcasket : this one is Cole centric but explores some contradictions of his character mostly with his relationship with Kai, how despite being a kind soul he acts as a bully towards him quite often.

Too familiar by Maplebreeze : Oneshot about Kai realizing him and Lloyd had similar experiences. Basically RG brothers fluff with some hurt.

Alike, alone by fruitcasket : Morro possesses Kai fic but it’s focused on Kai and Morro’s interactions and similarities rather than actions. It does some character analisis and dives into their mentality.

All of the work, none of the money by ADHDplusCartonnmakesCHAOS : Fic about the ninja learning about Kai and Nya’s childhood. There are many fics exploring this theme but this one is my favourite so far, talking about the subtler things like how costly pads are when you're already short on money to eat.

Fight by Maplebreeze : It describes perfectly how Kai would lose himself to violence (as one of his awful coping mechanisms) again and again and again, to distract his heart from all of those close to him he couldn't save (up until Possessed)

Guilt by Cherry_dynamite : On this fic we finally get closure with Lloyd addressing the fact that he did not see Kai's survival guilt back in the slither pit.

Boiling Point by Salty_Pickle_Bones : It is about Kai and the team being wrecked by Nya's death. It shows just how lost Kai has become, how he's going down the alcoholic rabbit hole again.

Off the deep end by Kiss_The_Cook : Set in the first season when Lloyd is a kid living with the ninja. Kai refuses to get close to Lloyd, despite Lloyd admiring him, because he knows he and Lloyd will get attached to each other and Kai thinks it would be very bad for the kid to do so. Brothers fluff (and some angst), I love how Kai’s mentality is portrayed and of course little Lloyd.

Aftermath by Sugarglider_s : Fluff opposite oneshot. Not really related to the rest but I love it and made a comic about it -> link here.

Feel free to recommend any other fic you like. We are especially interested in those that analyze the characterization of the ninja in depth, more specifically any other character besides Kai (pls let us know, especially ones about Jay, we’re struggling with writing him).

Side note: I know there aren’t many Kai and Nya fics so recommend ones focused on them too pls.
