Instead of talking about which song was for who, I like to think of the most obscure historical figures who would relate to each of the new Tortured Poets songs. Like, you’re telling me Henry the Eighth wouldn’t absolutely be shaking his ass to “Fresh Out The Slammer” as he feverishly wrote a handwritten letter to his new wifey-to-be after each death/divorce/beheading? Oscar Wilde’s exes would love the title track. “But Daddy I Love Him!” is what I imagine Eva Braun thought every day of her miserable life…..

I do think my favourite part of the tortured poet's department is how unreliable the narration is. Like it's done purposefully from the very beginning. This is not from a moment in time where the writer is making sense of things in a way that is logical or connected to reality. It is contradictory, incorporates toxic behaviours, and the actions and reactions throughout different strands are based in feelings that are not grounded or even necessarily based on reality at all.

I think the only way I can handle shortening the ttpd song titles is by trimming off some words (I can fix him, who's afraid, smallest man, chloe or sam... etc) because whenever I see the acronyms my brain malfunctions. waolom? mbobhft? cososom?? icfhnric?? icdiwabh? tsmwel??? those aren't songs they're keysmashes
