There's two Side B stories for Battle of the Gods where characters meet with their families in the afterlife and make the journey back for some reason, but Jonouchi doesn't have one. Does this mean Ra's flames didn't kill him like in cannon? Will there be anyone else visiting their dead relatives? And will you be killing anyone else?
The Jonouchi question will be answered when the next chapter goes up on the 1st.
As regards to the latter 2 questions, I'm not going to spoil the story but there is someone in cannon who would have been killed if things hadn't gone differently to plan, who may be in trouble in Ennead, but I'm not going to share who.
Or if they can return at all.

Being a pet owner have its own set of responsibility: Ginka was not a fan of going to the vet for getting a annual health check and some shots, for @enneadau
As it was her favorite human and specter who took her to the vet while Sugoroku was busy in the shop, Yugi and Meisa had a sulky cat for the following hour after coming back home to the Kame Game Shop XD

She very much would too. He earned her favour with not only the good duel but looking after Yugi when she nearly passed out after thier duel.

A blessing for Ryota Kajiki for @enneadau
The royals and Mutous in the Afterlide may not be able to thank Ryota in person for giving Yugi the ONLY non-magical and SAFE duel during the first day of Battle City at the aquarium, but it does not stop Amunet from blessing him with some luck for his own goals in life

Me: this will be a ficlet. A small, concise story under 3000 words long.
Me, 60,000 words later, confused, bleeding, wild-eyed, looking at the length of the first chapter compared to the last: I'm going to need to pad that out a bit.

Author Update:
There will be an update on the 1st for Battle of the Gods. Also, the book is nearly finished now, I have about 2 chapters left to write, so short of real life interfering, there should be no reason for there not to be updates every 2 weeks for the foreseeable future.

Kalim and Seth with the growing list of crimes that the Ishtars have done to "get their freedom" by force with little care or thought for the unpredictable consequences that Ishizu, Rishid and Marik have faced so far, for @enneadau
The words Kalim is mentioning as being rather careless in hindsight to have been spoken by the Ishtar siblings:
“You’re making a massive mistake, Pharaoh. I will do anything, ANYTHING, to protect my family. If that means forcing your hand so we can be free of those hunting us, so be it.” Ishizu, chapter 6 in Kismet
“I need you to grow stronger, so you can do your damned job and I will do whatever it takes to get the ending I want.” Hanaq to Meisa after that Yugi' soul was poisoned, chapter 9 in Battle of the Gods
“Nice move, traitor, but it won’t save you, or those you care about.” "I won’t allow Ishizu to start a lesson that could destroy her and Marik. Yes, I feel bad for ripping your Ukhti from you, but I won’t lose mine." Rishid to Katsuya during their duel, chapter 17
“The Pharaoh? Her doll? I don’t care about them. I don’t care if they live or die. They can go back into the darkness for all eternity, for all I care. I only care that my brothers live and no one. No one. Will stand in the way of ensuring that happens. Understand?” Ishizu, chapter 19
“But I won’t let Ishizu get killed either! If the Pharaoh doesn’t kill you, we can’t be free and she won’t do that until she understands that sometimes there’s no choice but to hurt those you love!” Marik to Ba-Khu-Ra, chapter 23
“You couldn’t do what needed to be done! You couldn’t take down a former ally! You're never going to be able to do what you need to do to save the world!” Ishizu, chapter 24
“If you’d done your job, if you’d just got rid of her!” “Ishizu would still be here!” Marik to Meisa, chapter 27
“What I did, I did because Yugi wouldn’t do what I wanted. The suffering of your friends? Yugi’s dip in the ocean? None of it would’ve happened if she’d just killed Bakura months ago. She’s responsible for everything. Not me. And now I’m going to send you back with a message for her: either she can surrender to me tomorrow and submit to judgement for the suffering of my people and the people of Kul Elna, or I’m going to kill her and anyone else who stands in my way.” Hanaq to Honda, chapter 34
Who is it that have NOT been doing their job, again? The Ishtar siblings themselves

The first time 6-year-old Yugi began the eight years of trying to complete the Millenium Puzzle and Meisa would watch her growing inside the maze, as mentioned in chapter 20 in For Those We Love, for @enneadau
When the girl's head tilted slightly, allowing Oneesan to see purple eyes watching her despite the blonde bangs hanging in front of them, the Pharaoh spoke, trying not to let the fact that her little sister was seeing her in spirit form for the first time distract her. 'Imoto-chan, you are not just my vessel. You are my light, my other soul, my partner. You're so much more than you give yourself credit for. You are NOT faulty, you're exactly what you're meant to be. The light that casts Shadows and protects the dark. Protects me... You saw it for yourself yesterday, Imoto-chan. Without you, I'm a mess.'
'But...' Yugi hesitated at the honesty on her Anesan's face and the sisterly love pulsing over the bond.
'For three thousand years I was trapped in the Shadows. It was cold, it was dark, and it hurt. More than anything I've experienced since. I didn't think I would ever get out. Then I started to see glimpses of light. Light that started to appear more and more often. And each time the light appeared the Shadows would back off and I would get a few moments free from pain and fear.'
'Was that... me?' Yugi asked quietly, stunned.
'Yes. It was you. And every time you tried to complete the Puzzle I got to connect with the mind and soul of this bright sunspot who was my deliverance. I got to see you grow and, while there are a few of your childhood bullies I would like very much to set on fire,' She paused at the quiet sigh that caused, suddenly aware she had never talked to Imoto-chan about this, 'I started to look forward to the visits from the Light.'
'I'm sorry I took so long to free you.' The girl winced.
'I've seen your memories of how complicated the Puzzle is. I'm just amazed you never gave up.' Oneesan shook her head. 'Many children would have. You're not like them. You kept coming back and coming back and coming back. And when the time finally came and I woke up in the maze, I made a promise. I would never, ever hurt you. Because if I did, I would be no better than the Shadows that hurt me. I've failed to keep that promise...'
"What?" Yugi straightened, speaking out loud in her shock at her Anesan's words. Her eyes were wider than normal as her head came up to watch her. "You've not..."
'I have, Imoto-chan. I'm the one who lost the match with Pegasus. If I had not allowed my pride to drive me and just taken the win we had gotten, he would not have taken Ojiisan's soul and forced you to come here. It's my fault you and your friends are here,' the spirit pointed out. 'The only good thing that's come out of it is that we might be able to save Shizuka's eyesight.'
"Anesan..." Yugi could not deny the truth.

Princess Amunet and Shada in the Afterlife for @enneadau
Given how much trouble the Ishtar siblings have caused for Yugi and her friends in the goal for "freedom", Amunet is trying to use some magic to forcefully awakening their common sense and ability to actually THINK more about both the more likely and more unpredictable consequences of various events before they speak or act. Like that Ishizu's "brilliant" idea to both poison Yugi's soul AND causing her to drown at the docks, really have NOT helped things during Battle City. And of course, Rishid and Marik actually aiding her in causing trouble by holding Shizuka's soul hostage
The stick figures inside the magical circle are presenting Ishizu, Marik and Rishid

Mai during the current chapters of the Battle of the Gods for @enneadau
One of the things that I look forwards to see in the Mai VS Hanaq Duel in the Finals of Battle City, despite the likelyhood of Hanaq using a Shadow Game:
Mai proving that she IS the Duel Queen of Europe for a reason, and one of the Champions of the Duel World

She was bluffing about the money. He was expendable to her and she had no doubts that Pharaoh would kick his ass so she would never have to pay out.
Also she doesn't keep many minions around because the more people that are around them, the easier the Tomb Keepers have been able to find them and sneak into thier group. It's been easier and safer to go it alone.
As far as she was aware they had left town and had no idea of their whereabouts so she let her guard down.
Tumblr media
Middle of chapter 13 in Battle of the Gods, poor Seth having another "Did the current Tomb Keepers replace their common sense with stupidity since Urbi's death and the Ishtars took over the leadership of the catacombs!?"-moment, for @enneadau
“You’re a valuable prize. If I defeat you, I’ve been promised another one of these.” He let the pieces of the coin fall to the floor, “And about half a million yen.”
Meisa wasn’t sure he knew what the value of that was in his own currency. She was certain he would be sorely disappointed to find out it was only around $3300. Not that she planned to lose here.
Even if Ishizu was ONLY BLUFFING about having half a million yen to bribe Bandit Keith into being Meisa's second "lesson" as well promising him that he would be able to get revenge on Ba-Khu-Ra for Duelist Kingdom, Seth does have a rather good point with this comment:
Since Ishizu's betrothed acted as a bait for her in Paris while the other Tomb Keepers tried to grab Marik and Rishid behind her back, one logical result of that event would be her using the Rod to secretly mind-control people to act as secret bodyguards for her brothers on the girls' day out. If she was able to use some pawns to get all three Ishtar siblings registered for Battle City, surely using the same mind-control power of the Rod to have bodyguards around to keep Marik and Rishid safe from the other Tomb Keepers, would not have been THAT much of a struggle?
If a set of bodyguards could have delayed the sneak attack and Marik being carried off by Karim and his men, perhaps poor Yugi would NOT have been poisoned the evening before Battle City and they could have avoided the current hell breaking out

Given the amount of times that Yugi's soul half have been reborn across the whole world over 3 000 years, is it safe to guess that some of her past-life families may also hold a grudge towards the Tomb Keepers? Say Shadi's previous reincarnations and one alarmingly IDIOTIC habit of "testing" her soul with Shadow Games and ending up causing her death more than once? Especially if he did that action with someone actually WITNESSING it? (just want to imagine some really protective past-life parents, siblings and other relatives outside Ancient Egypt that would LOVE to give Shadi some punishment for his previous self murdering THEIR little game-lover XD)
One or two but Shada was always good at working from the Shadows and Shadi continues that trait. So he's only been spotted once. I don't have the details on me though...
