Our heroine, the vulnerable & patient wife, mother, lover––Tina Balser, is masterfully played by the late actress, Carrie Snodgress. She's astounding winning an Academy Award for this role. The visionary Artist George Bucquet, Hot-Cast Glass, in his studio. George Bucquet began casting hot glass at Penland School, North Carolina in 1984. During his seven years working there he became a resident artist. After completing his studies, George moved to Arcata, CA, where he has continued to develop new and innovative techniques for creating his original contemporary forms. George's work is found in galleries around the world and in the private collections of Rupert Murdoch, Bill Gates, Irvin Borowsky, Noel and Janene Hilliard, and the Estate of Jerry Garcia. His work can also be found in the permanent collections of the U.S. Embassy, Ottawa, Canada, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Lausanne, Switzerland, the Asheville Museum of Art, NC, the National Liberty Museum, Philadelphia, PA, the Witchita Museum of Art, and the White House. Working together with precision timing, Bucquet and his assistants pour hot glass, thick and translucent as honey, into a handmade sand mold, then carefully press it into shape. A mold is individually created for each casting and the colored molten glass, formulated from scratch, is melted to 2350 F in a custom built furnace. After several days of cooling in an annealing oven, each bowl is skillfully hand detailed with copper, silver and gold leaf. Truly a master of his craft, Bucquet continues his quest to push the limits of artistic glass casting. Signed To Underside 'AS' For Alfredo Santarelli (Italian 1874-1957) Majolica lustre-glazed urn with serpent handles; professional repair to lip height: 11.5" width: 9" depth: 7" link: https://www.epocasf.com/node/11583/ Alfredo Santarelli was born in Gualdo Tadino in 1874, and is one of the most important Italian Ceramic Artists of the 20th century. His talent in drawing and his mastery in the tin glazing technique (lusterware) won him a large number of golden medals in International and Italian ceramic exhibitions. His excellent portraits and classic subjects are prized collectors’ items but he also interpreted Islamic, Liberty and Art Deco designs and shapes with great originality. Santarelli was very much intrigued by the Visual Arts of the Past. The pieces he owes his fame to were inspired by Egyptian, Etruscan, Classic, Gothic, Hispano-Moresque, Renaissance, Neoclassic and Pre-Raphaelite models. He set up his own studio in 1899 and immediately qualified as one of the most talented potters in Umbria. Only a few years later, he was invited by the founder of the Ceramics Museum in Deruta to join the newly born Pottery School, whose mission was to revive the local ceramic tradition, that had been almost completely lost in the previous century. Known as "The Professor" thanks to his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, Santarelli was the first Italian ceramic artist to sign his works regularly. A cinema classic & most comically disastrous Thanksgiving clip from “Giant” (1956) starring Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Rock Hudson. Giant, based on the 1952 novel by Edna Ferber,  follows Bick (Hudson) and Leslie (Taylor) and their life as cattle ranchers in Texas. Leslie, originally from Maryland, marries Bick after knowing him for a short time, and their marriage is tumultuous. At one part of the film, Leslie travels back to Maryland with her children to evaluate her marriage, participate in her sister’s wedding and spend Thanksgiving with her family.
