Made a carrying case for my discman! Also I bought a discman in 2024!
I'm trying to keep from buying new materials so except for some purse hardware and beads this was all stuff I had around. The yellow is from a jacket that was getting worn out. The black is from an old pair of jeans and from a previous project. I still have a ton of beads and rhinestones leftover from old pieces.
When I started all I knew is that since discmans are from my teen years, I had to do the Cool S.

Sewed and embroidered my own red envelope this year. Did a couching stitch with a metallic gold thread. I don't know if I'll keep doing this for the next 11 years. We'll see!

It's 2024 now. I immediately set upon drawing up a new tshirt design for my threadless shop that is very legal to sell. It is extremely legal now. People can legally buy this from my threadless. Or, you could draw your own, they can't stop you anymore.

My and @ericafails’ PARASOCIAL made it onto ComicsBeat’s Best Comics of 2023 list with a hell of a writeup:
“Parasocial is an original graphic novel by two of the finest creators working in the medium today. This is a book that addresses questions of perspective and power with genuine nuance and curiosity, and with a thorough approach to our various post-modern/late-stage capitalist malaises (including the pandemic). All this rich thematic goodness and the story itself is actually a frantic, claustrophobic, and completely compelling thriller. Erica Henderson’s storytelling throughout is expansive — at turns tender, at others punishingly brutal. Her capacity to show things like truth and illusion is astonishing. Alex de Campi’s critical voice has never been sharper than it is here, and the sense of co-creation and trust between the two storytellers is so strong that there’s no seam when it comes to the feeling and overall vibe of this book. Given that it comes with its own playlist, I think I’m allowed to say this is a band that is absolutely down in the groove. Parasocial is a masterpiece.” — Adam Karenina Sherif / ComicsBeat Best Graphic Novels of 2023

WIP.
I'm working on another garment. Thinking of doing the blood with beadwork, might need to find a grab bag of red beads to get some different textures in there.

FINISHED A NEW SEWING PROJECT. I really enjoy designs that are not so much being accurate to a time period as much as a heightened half memory of an era.
The initial design came from one of Lauren Bacall's outfits in How To Marry A Millionaire, but I pushed the silhouette and the shape and colors until they were almost clown- like.

Finished the next pillow! It's about 50-50 embroidery and beading this time. Since the colors have been pretty flat on this one, I wanted to figure out a way to add variety to the mandrake without going full blended detail.

My next wip! I have a second decorative pillowcase to replace so I want it to match the last one I did. Luckily, I have plenty of this mustard linen.

Replacement pillowcase: FINISHED.
I went with the hand of glory for a motif because it was thought to paralyze or put people to sleep, and what's better for a pillow?
This is the most beading I've ever done in a project and it was really satisfying.

The rhinestone trim though? A real nightmare. Hated it. Tedious. Awful.

I have no idea when I'll get to start my next big project so for now I'm replacing a worn pillowcase with a new one, using materials I already had lying around.

Some more visible mending!
I had pulled this sweater out of shape by letting it hang dry on a corner. To fix it, I lightly ironed it until I had isolated just the stretched bit, clipped it, cut it off, and then sewed it shut with a little cotton backing. Then, just covered up the scar with a little frog. A delightful frog.

This one is a little harder to see because I decided to go off white on white to give it a *delicate* feel. In person you can see that there's textural detail, on camera it fights tooth and nail to not be perceived.
This is a shirt my mother in law got in Mexico about 20 years ago. It had a few brown stains on it that I covered up.
Some details I really enjoy from the process:

Starting my next project on a beautiful handmade shirt from Mexico with light stains all over it. My mother in law gave it to me to rehabilitate.

AHAHA. DONE. FINALLY. I've never done so much hand stitching on a non-embroidery sewing project.
I've been sitting around with piles and piles of fabric that are too big to consider scraps and too small for many projects- so I quilted them into a coat! Lining is also squares of fabric that I only had little bits of left.
DOUBLE LAYER OF BATTING.
HAND APPLIQUES.
HAND STITCHED BINDING.
The only visible seams are in the quilting process but there should be none in the garment construction.
