Lockwood wasn't stupid. He didn't take Lucy to see the graves of his family + his future grave on the night before he and the rest of the Co. would go to confront a vicious ghost with a massive kill count consisting entirely of lovesick young men by coincidence. Lockwood knew from the start how vulnerable he would be to La Belle Dame Sans Merci, but he had to go on. Because how could he ever admit the reason why?

At least Lucy was safe and back with the rest of them. At least he had convinced her to come back to her family, the ones who would protect her and she them. She had George, Holly, even Kipps now. Lockwood hadn't been brave enough to say everything when they were standing together in that iron circle, and now . . . what if he said it, and it drove her away again? How could he risk fracturing what had only just been restored? How could he do that to her? To all of them?

All she had to know was where to put him after the inevitable, something he hadn't even told George.

All he had to do was ignore everything he knew about the spirits of those who passed with terrible, terrible secrets.

And pray that he wouldn't come back to haunt her.

Is it just me or is Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call THE Anthony Lockwood song ever? Like I can’t hear the song and not just picture him the whole time 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

(Also I finished book two and wanted to say you were right, they do lay off George a bit as time goes on. 🥹🖤 thanks for the reassurance!)

This is SO going on my Lockwood playlist :) You're absolutely right, it's incredibly him, there are so many relevant lines. At your best you were magic, we were sold hit me like a train, lol. It's so interesting to me that you connected this song to Lockwood before reading The Hollow Boy, because oof, there are some very Hollow Boy lyrics in there. Oh wow, you've caught up with the story covered in season one now!! That's so exciting!!! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the third book when you read it!

(I'm so glad, I knew it got better in the later books, but I'm relieved to know it lessens even by the second. No problem, I'm glad to have helped!)
