"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.

"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.

My first case of bronchitis did this to me, even too much exercise could get me coughing. It took years of an inhaler to get it straightened out.

Btw, people are understandably focused on Long COVID right now, but I caught whooping cough over a decade ago and you can still hear it when I cough. I still get throat spasms and have to pause and relax my throat so I don’t choke. In the years after it cleared up, I would catch a normal cough and have it persist for up to six months.

It’s actually not that unusual to have permanent, lifelong symptoms after catching a major illness. This has always been a thing and it’s something you should be mindful of when choosing which advisories to follow.
