Summary- What if kinich became the very man he swore to hate

A/n- IM BACK, i feel like its been longer, ive had no motivation to write at all. But i miss it so much :( IT SUCH A SHITTY ONESHOT, BUT ITS WRITING <3

It wasn't like Kinich to act like this, not at all. He was never a yeller, never a hitter. He said he couldn't handle any of that, not after his own childhood. But as the sun set on Natlan, darkness didn't just fall on the outside of the house.

A dark cloud was settled over Kinich, his head was clouded, he was angry. Or so he had said, but he'd also said he'd never hurt you. Which one could you believe?

The yelling had started over diner, his passive aggressive nature didn't fall on deaf ears. With the current state of Natlan he had reason to be upset, but why at you. First it was the food, it didn't have enough flavour. Then it was the dishes, it was his turn tonight not yours.

"I'm not doing, I basically made dinner since you can't cook!" It wasn't a storng enough statement to hurt you, but his voice had never reached that tone with you ever. As the sun sunk futher it only got darker

"I said stay away from me, I don't want to be around you!" He'd had a few drinks by now, he never ever touched alcohol not after...

"You remind me of him." The words stung like a wasp sting. Like him... His dad.

A drunk, lowlife piece of shit who couldn't care for his own child and wife. All you did was care for Kinich, you offered him love and support in his darkest times offering to hold and take away his pain. You held on despite him pushing away when he was upset, despite his frequent mood swings.

He became the very thing he swore to hate, his dad.

Later that night he stumbled into the bedroom clutching the empty glass bottle like a lifeline. "Get out of my side of the bed." "Its not your side." "Get. Out"

Then everything changed. Everythig changed as the blood spilled down your cheek. Everything changed as the glass cut into your arm. Everything changed with the scream of terror you let out. He told you his worst thing was hurting you, he conquered that fear now. What was next?

OK I TRIED MY BEST FOR THIS ONE. gotta appreciate a guy with a lot of layers to him… actually every pjeg character is like that it’s pretty crazy. anyway i had my friend in mind while making this I HOPE HE ISN’T OOC

𓆙 i’m just gonna lay it out there… yep. he will stand in front of the podium in his room, stare at the mirror that’s on top of it and rehearse a confession. he’s damon-freaking-maitsu, he can’t dare to mess up a confession. that doesn’t mean the it’ll end up going 100% smoothly though.

you see him deep in thought, eyebrows scrunched and hand in a fist. before you could say or ask anything he speaks up first, a quick “hey,” as he approaches closer with this nervous look on his face. you greet him back, tone kind of awkward. he lets out a sigh, cheeks dusted in bright pink. “listen, i know this is sudden but i just wanted to let you know that i like you”

𓆙 but let’s say he takes too long to man up and eventually you beat him to it… he would curse himself for not going up to you sooner.

“oh” he says. you start thinking that it’s over now, he’s gonna reject you, and your friendship is now forever ruined and — “i like you too” he suddenly adds. you look up at him surprised, but happy.

𓆙 his feelings and the relationship might start off slow, it really depends on how comfortable you make him feel. for him, to be with someone is to find a home in them :)

𓆙 other than that he would wanna be with someone he can see to be at his level. no, it doesn’t matter what you can or can’t do. just don’t underestimate him and show off what you can do best.

𓆙 he’s a bit of an awkward guy, but it’s endearing. he’ll be embarrassed while complimenting you, and while being affectionate. it’s very easy to make him flustered.

he freezes as you pull him in for a kiss, but eventually melts into it. when you pull away you notice his cheeks are absolutely flushed pink. you compliment him with a giggle, letting him know how cute you think he looks. “uh — yeah. you too. i mean, you also look really nice” he blurts out, before hiding his face in the crook of your neck.

𓆙 the closer you two get / the longer you guys date, the more comfortable he grows. he’ll start showing his softer side more, he’ll start smiling and laughing around you more, he’ll show you his real side. this also means he’ll laugh at stupid corny jokes.

𓆙 speaking of real side he can be clingy, he can be needy. he’ll have random spurs of moments where he just needs someone there. he’ll eventually drop his walls and be vulnerable around you. may take a bit and may depend on your guys’ relationship depth.

𓆙 and besides being able to be clingy and needy, he loves being spoiled.

𓆙 probably won’t tell you, but he’d love it if you make him homemade things. food, trinkets, clothes, etc. make him accessories or clothes? he’ll wear it of course! make him a nice homemade meal? devoured (in seconds).

𓆙 would love to read with you! though if you’re not big into reading or maybe have trouble with it then he’ll read something for you. doesn’t matter if it’s something he’s currently reading or something you asked for, he’s down for it.

“here’s a book i wanna reread; have you heard of metamorphosis by franz kafka?” he asks, pulling up a book. “it’s a classic that i really like” he goes on as he uses his free hand to rub soothing circles on your head. he looks away from you to admire the book, eyes skimming along the cover. “it’s about a guy who gets turned into an insect. i’ll read a bit of it for you, but don’t fall asleep”

The camera in Cheng Xiaoshi’s hands clicked softly, capturing the moment before you even had a chance to react.

"Hey—!" You turned to glare at him, only to find him grinning behind the camera, tilting his head like an artist admiring his masterpiece.

"What?" he asked innocently, lowering the camera just enough to reveal the mischief twinkling in his eyes. "You looked cute. Had to make sure I saved it forever."

You huffed, crossing your arms. "I wasn’t even ready."

"Exactly! Candid shots are the best. They capture the real you." He wagged a finger, as if schooling you on the art of photography itself. "And the real you is very, very adorable."

You felt heat rise to your face but masked it with an exaggerated sigh. "If you’re gonna keep taking pictures of me, at least let me see them."

Cheng Xiaoshi hummed in thought before flipping the camera around, showing you the tiny screen. To your surprise, the photo wasn’t unflattering at all. It wasn’t one of those awkward, mid-sentence captures that made you want to delete it instantly. Instead, it was… soft. The lighting caught just right, making your features glow naturally. Your expression, though unaware, looked peaceful.

"See?" Cheng Xiaoshi nudged you playfully. "I have an eye for these things."

You glanced at him, skeptical. "You sure you’re not just biased?"

"Maybe," he admitted with a shrug. "But can you blame me?"

The sincerity in his voice caught you off guard. It was always hard to tell when he was joking and when he was being genuine, but this—this felt real.

Before you could find a response, he suddenly turned the camera on himself and leaned in close, pressing his cheek against yours.

"One more for the album!"

The camera clicked.

"You—!"

Too late. The damage was done. He pulled back with a laugh, waving the camera triumphantly

"This one's my favorite," he declared.

You groaned but couldn’t stop the smile tugging at your lips. "You’re ridiculous."

"And you’re stuck with me," he shot back, mirroring the words he always seemed to say. But this time, his voice was softer, the meaning behind it lingering in the air between you.

You sighed in mock defeat. "I suppose I am."

Cheng Xiaoshi beamed, swinging the camera around his neck like a prized possession.

"Good. Because I plan to take a thousand more pictures of you."

And, somehow, you didn’t mind at all.

The sun was setting over Fontaine, casting golden light across the rooftops. You practically bounced on your heels as you tugged on Kinich’s sleeve, eyes sparkling.

“Come on, come on! The view from up there is so pretty! You have to see it!”

Kinich let out a quiet sigh but didn’t pull away. He never did, no matter how much you dragged him along on your little adventures. His steps were measured while yours were light and full of energy, like a sunbeam that refused to stay still.

When you reached the top of the hill, you spun around with a dramatic flourish. “Ta-da! Isn’t it amazing?"

Kinich looked out at the city, the golden hues reflecting in his eyes. “It’s nice.”

You pouted. “Nice? That’s all you have to say?”

He glanced at you, expression unreadable but amused. “What else should I say?”

“You could say it’s breathtaking, stunning, the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen!” You beamed, rocking on your heels. “You know, be a little romantic about it!”

Kinich was silent for a moment. Then, instead of looking back at the sunset, he looked at you.

“It’s not the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” His voice was quiet, thoughtful. “That would be you.”

Your breath hitched, eyes widening. “Oh.”

A smirk ghosted across his lips. “You look surprised. Didn’t you ask for romance?”

“I-I did! But I wasn’t expecting you to listen!” Your face burned as you hid it behind your hands.

Kinich chuckled—soft and fleeting, like a secret carried by the wind. Without a word, he reached for your wrist, gently pulling your hands away from your face.

“I listen more than you think.” His fingers curled around yours, warm and steady. “And if you want romance… I can give you that.”

You stared at him, heart fluttering, and for once, you were the one left speechless. The golden light wrapped around you both, but at that moment, the warmth of his hand in yours was all that mattered.

Maybe, just maybe, Kinich was more romantic than you gave him credit for.
