Here are a few little highlights from our interview with A.J. Trauth, the beloved Alan Twitty. We talk all things Even Stevens and then some!
A.J. shares a ton of fond memories, casting stories and behind-the-scenes tidbits, gives us the scoop on some fascinating Disney Channel history, spitballs insanely cool reboot ideas with us, ranks his Top 5 favorite episodes... and SO much more!!!
At a certain point this "interview" becomes 3 millennials getting nostalgic and talking about our favorite movies, the importance of quality kids programming and the downside of binge-watching TV shows. We had such a blast! He brought a very unique perspective to the conversation as someone our age who currently works in developing kids & family TV. And yes, we talk about what that job entails!
HUGE thank you to A.J. for coming on the podcast! We hope we covered all of your most pressing questions!! Enjoy!

✨🗣BIG NEWS!!! Thursday, August 13th, we’ll be interviewing THE A.J. Trauth (Alan Twitty) on the podcast! 🎙 We’re so pumped for this. In addition to playing Louis’ lovable best friend/frequent partner in crime, he starred in one of our favorite DCOMs “You Wish!” If you’re a 20-30-something year old, he’s basically been in some awesome stuff from your childhood. 💖🙌🏼 Please, reply or email us at [email protected] with any questions you have!

In this AMAZING cast & crew interview, we sit down for a fascinating and fun chat with executive producers/head writers Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler! It quickly became less about jumping from question to question and transformed into a super organic conversation in which we hope a lot of questions were answered!
We talk about pretty much everything: how Marc and Dennis got their start, the early days of Even Stevens, casting, the writing process, a typical week on set, tons of behind the scenes info + fun facts, Shia, Honey Boy... and MORE!
If that's not enough, Marc and Dennis ranked their Top 5 Best/Worst episodes of the series!!! You do NOT want to miss it! :)

I've yet to see Honey Boy (maybe not until it's on Amazon Prime!) but, I have to ask: Did it change your perspective on the Even Stevens show, or have you been able to separate the two?
@dominik528 I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they “can never watch Even Stevens again after watching Honey Boy” or that “Even Stevens will never be the same” and it’s a little upsetting/frustrating. So, I’m answering this publicly because I think it’s important for people to know...
We’ve definitely been able to separate the two, for a few reasons. Shia seems to be at peace with the past today and had an absolute nostalgic blast reacting to The Even Stevens Movie during #AllMyMovies, so if he can get that much joy out of it - I think it’s okay for us to enjoy it as well. He has said that he has “nothing but love” for Even Stevens and that “some of the best memories of his life” are from being on that show. So, it seems like Shia himself has managed to separate the two.
While it’s terrible that Shia’s life behind the scenes was not great, his time on set was the opposite. We just interviewed show-runners Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler (the episode will be up in a few days...) and talked about this a little bit. They stated that Even Stevens was probably Shia’s “savior,” if anything, during that time in his life. On the Honey Boy podcast Part 3, Shia also says that he’s never been more “free” and “in his element” on a set than he was on Even Stevens. In this case, I think it’s wonderful that we get to see a “free” and extremely talented young Shia shine on screen like that. He also stays in contact with some of the cast/crew. The fact that an old crew member gifted Shia one of Louis’ old Hawaiian shirts... and he’s since added it to his wardrobe, is also very sweet.
So, all in all, I personally think it’s pretty easy to separate the two. I can understand how it might be jarring and difficult for some people to do that after watching Honey Boy for the first time though. But at the end of the day, it’s important to remember that Shia holds the show in high regard and that pretty much tells us all we need to know.
Long story short: It’s definitely okay to watch and enjoy Even Stevens post-Honey Boy. :)

This is an extremely special episode: Our very first interview with a member of the Stevens family! We're so excited to share our nearly 2 hour conversation with Tom Virtue, who of course played Steve Stevens on the show! We made sure to work in as many of your questions as we could. So settle in and listen to us talk about everything from his beginnings as an actor, plenty of Even Stevens behind the scenes/filming stories, touching memories, lots and lots of Shia LaBeouf + a whole lot more!
*Please note: At 1:14:31, we started experiencing some technical difficulties on Tom's end, unbeknownst to all of us! Thankfully we were able to salvage the raw audio from our Skype session to fill in the gaps. So, just know that there will be a shift in audio quality for 18 minutes or so at that point and then again for a small section at the end. The quality of the content is still 10/10 so we hope you can forgive that little hiccup and enjoy the interview!
Huge thanks to Tom for chatting with us and thank you all for sending in questions!

I sat down to discuss The Even Stevens Movie with Lucas and Emma from DCOMedy Podcast! A lot of you have been asking if/when Ethan and I will be reviewing the movie. A review on the podcast probably won’t happen until we’re done with the entire series, but I still really want to do a short video review of it myself sometime. Until then, you can check out this conversation! :)
It’s available to listen via the link above or wherever you listen to podcasts!
