I've always been annoyed at how vague most pain scales tend to be. they're too focused on the sensation of pain, which makes it hard to be confident in your rating, and they don't tell doctors or caretakers anything more useful than "it hurts a lot", which you've probably told them already

i think a more useful scale (for chronic pain) would be something like this- there's a clear difference between a 5 and a 6 that makes it easy to be confident in your rating, and the rating you give actually tells them something about how urgent it is, how it's likely to affect you, and what you might need

(admittedly it's a bit sparse at 1-3, but i can't remember the last time i was below a 3, so i don't have a lot of insight there. most days I'm around a 5, today so far I've been at 7)

Suffice to say i dont think that relying on the magic 8ball for emotional support is a good idea with good outcomes. but its really funny to hear people be like "people are going to chatgpt instead of a Real Therapist" like a real therapist is basically just a guy lol theyre not that special. do you know how many times ive seen people talk about their therapist like. telling them to go to church, or straight up victim blaming them, or giving them other insnae nonsense advice--i feel like every single person i know who has done a non-neglible amount of therapy has at least one Batshit Insane Therapist story. like at least the magic 8ball cant have you sent to the big torture building if you freak it out too much

There is no self, there is only you is a semi-epistolary game for two. One player, the Captor, will progressively edit the memories of the other player, their Subject, as the Subject struggles to retain scraps of who they were. Play consists of a series of rounds, alternating between scenes observing the Subject’s day to day life and the their being confronted by their Captor’s visions of who they could be as they fight against the changes they're making. They'll lose, of course, unless they can escape. But maybe they can convince their Captor to consider their wants and needs? We all have delusions we're comforted by.

Play continues until the Captor’s work is done and they wish to play with their doll, or until the Subject grasps freedom for even a moment- but there's no going back. You are always never more or less than yourself.
