PUPPET UPDATE!!!

Onto the next project! Starting a bit early, juuuust to be sure I get it done in time--but say hello to my Halloween project! As is typical I am making a puppet in spite of having absolutely no experience/knowledge in the area AT ALL.

So far, it's going well. I'm aiming to try and have it double as a doll for display when not in use. The eyes gave me some trouble though, ah my mortal nemesis, resin. Took three tries to get a result I was happy with, but these bad bois are finally ready to set up inside the head! Gonna try and make em swivel since making em blink is too hard for me at the moment!

FINISHED!!! I think for my first time making wigs, I didn't do too badly! Definitely isn't as easy as some people make it look, I would've loved to add a gradient with the colour too, but I'm kinda scared to mess with it any more than it already is. It's not the neatest, but it's the best I can do with my limited skill. I'm pretty happy with it though!

Now I just need to get all the damn hair clippings out of the carpet...

Y'know, I started this project knowing I had no idea what i was doing, but this might actually end up being not be a total and utter disaster! I have some padding to add to add some shape to it. Once it's on and the glue has dried... It's hair time. So unbelievably nervous!

Now my only problem is wondering if this would even be applicable to smaller scale wigs, like I wanted to learn this stuff for in the first place...

Onto the next mini-project, and this time I'm prepping for Halloween! I've always wanted to learn how to make wigs, and since it's a skill I'll probably need in the future, well. No better time to start learning than now! I've successfully crimped this wig without starting any fires, so enjoy watching me figure this out while I get ready to start recording my next big project!

I think if I find any more typos after all the work I did this week to make sure I got them all then I'm just going to accept it. The keyboards are conspiring with my own eyeballs against me and I will never win.

I think maybe I'll just never read this chapter ever again so I can remain happily oblivious to whether there are typos or not.

She's finished! She has actually kinda been finished for a while, I just have been hung up on trying to get the damn YouTube video done. It felt like it took forever, but I've been trying to learn more skills to make them better. So hopefully I'll start getting the hang of making these things soon.

Anyway--Didn't she just turn out lovely? I actually kinda, sorta broke her mid-way through the project, and I fixed her with apoxie before thinking about how I was going to sculpt her clothes. So I ended up having to use air dry clay (Which I'm not super great at using) to sculpture them (Which I'm also not good at sculpting yet). So for a little while, it was a worry that I might have to just start over again so I could go back to polymer. There are a couple of things I would have done differently looking back on it, but in the end, I think she turned out great!

Now all she needs is a name...Any suggestions?

The costume pieces have been mounted, and now I can't get over how frickin cool it looks! Also, it's finally out of the way, and the mannequin is free to be used for something else other than storage!

On a lighter note, recently my nan asked my grandad to pick up some eggs on his way home, we had run out, we needed eggs. So my grandad did as he was asked and brought some eggs home. Yay! We had eggs again, we would no longer be constrained to a miserable, egg-less existence. Great right? Right???

Yeah, my grandad brought home eggs alright.

We have SO MANY EGGS!!! WHY!! Why did he think this was a good idea? Why did he bring so many eggs home? We don't destroy cartons off eggs fast enough for the capacity of eggs currently sitting on our kitchen counter right now. This is an unprecedented number of eggs. I spent like a half-hour soft boiling eggs to be used in various dishes and barely even made a dent, only two people in this three-person household actually would eat the eggs. And that's not including the cat. Who I refuse to give him the eggs no matter how hard he tries to steal them from me when begging didn't work, because frankly I'm the one who has to clean I'd litter.

The boiler has a leak, and we only even noticed it at all because the boiler just happens to be in a tiny cupboard connected to my room. And I have been tidying up all day, so I just happened to walk on a corner of the room that I never really walk on normally and found it wet. So now the only indication that the leak has been going on for an undetermined amount of time is that the saturated patch of carpet reached like a meter away from the dripping area. So now we're gonna have to get me a new carpet for my room. Which means moving a whole bunch of shit in my room out to do so. Also I have not slept in over 24 hours, and I will now be up waiting for an emergency visit to fix the leak.

So yeah, at least I finished sculpting the clothes for the rabbit figurine. I still have a few more details to add once what I have so far is not as smooshable. I can sand her when the clay is dry.

I am filled with rage :)

I finished sanding the rabbit figurine and I'm gonna be sculpting the clothes tonight! I haven't done some digital art in a while, so I think once in done I'll treat myself to finishing off a piece of art I've been working on of Willow to practice my mortal nemesis--backgrounds! Also I need to learn to add more texture when I colour. I'll figure it out eventually, I mean I eventually defeated the whole "Drawing hands" thing, so I mean surely it's only a matter of time before something clicks in my stupid lil brain...

Also guess what dumb idiot forgot to wear a mask while sanding the other day! I remembered it for most of it, but just as I was finishing up I took it off to give Mittens some attention cuz he was meowing his little head off and trying to walk his fluffy butt over the messy worktop. And I just forgot to pit it back on. And man was I sneezing afterwards.
