I am sure someone has thought about this, but hear me out: Lan Wangji as a lawyer and Wei Wuxian as a "criminal" who is also his client AU.

Basically, it would go down like the original books, but in court. So every time new evidence popped up, everyone would know. Jin Guangyao would tamper with the evidence and would be the judge. Nie Huaisang would get the evidence back and leaving it wherever for Lan Wangji to find.

Lan Xichen is married to Jin Guangyao and originally married to Nie Mingjue who passed away from unknown circumstances.

"Your honor, my client never did anything he was accused of today. It was you."

Tempted to add this to my fanfics I must write but will probably never finish.
