my contribution to tenna undertale is napstablook's tv to me is both visually and story-wise more fitting than mettaton's tv or the trash heap (though i do enjoy both of those versions as well)

visually resembles lightworld tenna more than the other tvs in undertale AND story-wise matches the whole family abandonment theme (yeah mettaton abandoned his own tv when he left home to become a star BUT to me it's important to note the parallels of napstablook feeling abandoned and the whole dreemurr family situation)

Do your UT!Spamton and Tenna still have some kind of connection with the UT versions of Noelle and Susie/Suzy respectively?

YES well specifically tenna and suzy hang out :) they are friends.. she makes him feel like he has an audience as for noelle and spamton.. i dont think they would really meet before monsterkind went to the surface , but i dont know! maybe dess and noelle would explore and get lost occasionally and end up coming across him

honestly so glad gerson is super plot relevant in deltarune now because i have been a long time fan of gerson since he was a funny shopkeeper in undertale.

Anyone else feel like there’s a deliberate lack of information on Berdly’s family or home life?

We’ve got info on Kris’s family (a strong bond with a brother and two divorced but otherwise good parents),

Susie’s family (physically abusive, as indicated by her aversion to hugs, telling Kris that they “have a good mom”, her frequently talking about not having enough to eat, and only pretending when Toriel asked her to call her parents),

and Noelle’s family (an overprotective but otherwise good father, an emotionally abusive mother–indicated by Noelle preferring to stay at Catty’s house instead of asking her mother to open the gate and Rudy saying that she’s hard on Noelle–and a missing(?) older sister).

But despite that, we get nothing about Berdly’s family, despite him also being a prominent Lightner.

There’s no mention of any particular adults he looks up to or gets support from (all we get is a mention of “Ms. Boom”, who he apparently works for). I don’t think it’s an accident, either.

For one, not only does he take one memory of being praised by adults for being smart so seriously that he bases his entire identity around it, but he latches onto Queen EXTREMELY quickly for someone who supposedly only started obeying her to keep Noelle safe. And it really doesn’t seem like he’s just trying to kiss up to her, either; in his first battle he asks Queen what snacks she has at home and tries to show her his card collection. He’s trying to get closer to her personally, not just for Noelle’s sake.

Then, of course, there’s his apparent total lack of support from other adults; not only does he completely rely on Noelle for help studying and is ashamed enough of this to want to hide it from others, but he’s so terrified of not having Noelle to lean on for support that he wanted to make his own world for the two of them in Cyber Field, as though his plan was for them to just live there together forever.

Everyone’s so focused on the “gifted child” aspect of his backstory that no one else is even thinking about what it says about his life outside of Noelle that he’s so terrified of being without her that he’d literally rather leave his hometown, work, school, and entire life behind and even work for Queen if it meant getting to stay with her, especially with as much enthusiasm as he has for the whole plan. Not even SUSIE was this enthused about staying in the Dark World, even after meeting Lancer.

Literally?? Where is this kid’s family?? Does he even have a family??

Thinking about how so far, Deltarune's main enemies seem to be subverting Undertale's rules.

Undertale said that you can be friends with everyone, and that every person is kind deep down.

King is a straight-up asshole who cannot be befriended, and lashes out at even his loved ones.

Undertale said that you can always defeat someone with kindness, and that everyone can be convinced to join your side.

Queen needs to be defeated with violence even on a "pacifist" run, and she convinces the heroes she's right, not the other way around. Interestingly, Ralsei is the one to brings things back to the status quo by revealing the Roaring, which forces Queen to be wrong and step down.

Undertale is known as the Friendly RPG Where Nobody Has to Die.

I wonder if we'll be forced to kill Tenna in Chapter 3.
