PLOTTING YOUR STORY
First you should know that a plot is basically your story. Confusing right? I've never really been able to define this word. Plot. But your plot is what your story is about, and plotting your story means jotting the sequence of events in which your story happens from the beginning to the end.
That said, plotting your story should be easy right? Just start until it finishes one way or the other. I wish it were that easy. When plotting your story you must keep in mind that every plot must be important to your story. If one plot is removed, the story must become like a crooked table unable to balance. If a plot or scene can be removed and your story still stands like a soldier, then that plot is useless and you need to respect your audience enough not to give them a useless plot.
Of course this does not mean that you have to become Einstein at the first draft stage. No, plot your story with every plot that comes to mind, once all the plot are down, you begin to sieve what is unnecessary, and merge what can be merged, until you get that tight plot.
Your plot should also not be confusing. There must be a progression, from one point to the next. From the hero getting up from bed till they go back to sleep, make sure you do not mix things up in a confusing way, just because you want to add suspense, you may just end up annoying your audience. Withholding information and confusing your audience with plot are two very different things.
So whether you choose to start plotting your story from the beginning of events, from the middle of events, or from the end itself, make sure there is a smooth movement from point A to point wherever the audience needs to go to justify reading your story.
Hope this helps with the story you are working on.
Thank you for reading my journal

ON CHARACTER TYPES
Look at the world you live in. Look around you? The people you see, do they have the same characteristics? Look at the animals around you do they act the same way? No. While they may share some specie-related similarities, they display different personalities, one is more obedient, or more cunning. Now if even your animals are different. What more your characters?
A friend once asked me to proof read his work and the first thing I noticed was how all the characters sounded like Wole Soyinka despite never attaining that level of education nor sophistication. and worse they all sounded like the narrator. This is something' I've noticed in a lot of Nigerian's stories, even the comic books.
Your characters are meant to draw empathy from your readers but can you as a person empathize with a puppet? If I as a reader cannot forget that I am reading about a nonexistent creatures while reading your work then you have to do a character recall, return to the character factory, and manufacture a new and improved character.

And as I stood beside his bed, watching my blood flow into his veins. I thought to myself. ‘My blood now flows through my Malik. We are now one. I will go through that accident, over and over again to hold on to this feeling.’

ON THE ID, EGO AND SUPER EGO
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in human psychology. You might not believe me but in SS3 I picked up one of my mum's psychology books and read it to the end. Even though, right now I don't remember most of what i read, I wanted to be a shrink then. Not to help humans, just to study them, like a psychotic scientist. The human mind is a spectacular thing. And this brings me to the Id, Ego and the Super Ego. According to Sigmund Feud the human personality can be divided into three parts. And these three parts play the greatest roles in how we view and interact with the world.

ON USING AD HOMINEM
Have you heard of the word Logical fallacy? Well the Logical Fallacy is an incorrect argument used in logics and rhetorics (persuasive talks) that is aimed at discrediting the logical validity or importance of an argument. Basically it is usually used when you are less interested in defending your cause than in Winning the argument. This is how a Fallacy is Structured. If A is a B; and C is an A; then C is definitely B There are two types of Logical Fallacy.

THE AMEBO PROJECT
In Nigeria where I am from, listening in on people’s conversation, or monitoring their actions; then reporting it to the world or to anybody that will listen to you is called doing Amebo. A as in Apple, ME as in Men and Bo as in Ball. AMEBO
I AM AN AMEBO Basically, this is an anti-social behavior, and I should not be proud to call myself one but, I’m an aspiring writer and my audience are humans, so my justification is that I need to monitor the people around me, and the ones I come in contact with on the random and rare occasions that I get up from my bed and walk outside. This is understandable right? How can I write about human beings, Or write things that human beings will want to read whether they care about it or not; if I know nothing about them? Huh tell me!!!

KEEPING FIT
Tumblr media
I feel that writers don't hear this enough. 'We need to watch our weight!' Seriously. I mean I know I should, but the writing life ain't got time for that. You work an 8 to 5 job, go through the 1 hour journey home, assuming you left work early, you've got to eat, you got to rest, then you've got to work your second job and you need to sleep at least 6 hours and get ready for the next day's circle.
Some of you might be thinking, but there is enough time for that. First of all, if you think that then you are definitely not Nigerian. Or your work next door to your day job, and you either do not live with your parents or your parents are super chill about you being a writer.
But if you agree with me that writers ain't got no time for that thing called keeping fit, then we may be doomed to a life of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and all the plague that comes with the unfit life; and we need to change that. The day before yesterday I decided to exercise, dance for 1 hour 30 minutes, because I fell for the temptation of eating chocolate. I really do not know the secret to keeping fit despite a busy schedule, and all these fitness sites keep suggesting stupid and unrealistic tips, but I feel you should at least try to do something.
If you are over weight you can change your eating style; drink coffee or tea or water in the morning and afternoon, then eat a small quantity at night. This could be though to keep up with, but this as a lifestyle change may be the best way to lose weight.
If you just want to stay fit, you can try eating small quantities of your regular meal, then do as many activities as you can squeeze into your time; walk to your destination, Dance once in a while, do some house chores when you can, and you might just remain fit and healthy.
We should practice what we preach right? Ha ha. So I'm going to start it.
Thanks for reading my Journal
Fabling Pam
So it turns out that I can’t make a post every day because of how busy my schedule is. But I promise I’ll upload sometimes daily and other times every other days or two days.
Oh, check out my drawing, this is my first real attempt at freestyle drawing on a tablet. I try now.
