Queen Helaena Targaryen (updated)
Sister-wife and queen of Aegon II “the Usurper”, Helaena was described as a small woman who was not as otherworldly and beautiful as her relatives but still extremely kind and beloved of the smallfolk. The rider of Dreamfyre, the second oldest dragon in the world, was married at 13, having birthed twins within the year. At 20, she was crowned queen by her mother, Alicent Hightower, after the death of her father, Viserys I. After the traumatic deaths of both her sons, the storming of the dragonpit, and regaining of the city by Rhaenyra I, she leapt from Maegor’s Holdfast, being only 21.
I redrew my pookie because I’ve gotten more comfortable digitally drawing and wanted to update her! I decided that she would most likely wear the blue of her dragon Dreamfyre, and I added the crown of Alicent (and Aemma) as it is said in the books her mother placed her own crown upon her head.

Queen Alicent Hightower
The second wife and queen of Viserys I, Alicent was the daughter of Hand of the King Otto Hightower and leader of the Green faction. Married at 17, she quickly gave rhe king four children, including three sons: Aegon “the Usurper”, Aemond “the Kinslayer”, Daeron “the Daring”, and Helaena. Upon the death of her husband, she crowned her son Aegon and his siter-wife Helaena as King and Queen, despite Viserys maintaining and defending Rhaenyra’s position of his heir. This action led to the civil war known as the Dance of Dragons and the almost complete decimation of House Targaryen. After the war, all her children and grandchildren save Jaehaera were dead, and the Blacks continued to fight for Rhaenyra, leading to her son Aegon III to gain the throne.
Here she is, the OG Green herself. Though she is never described in the books, I think that she would have silver-blonde hair like all the Hightowers mentioned in the books.

Queen Aemma Arryn
The daughter of Princess Daella and Lord Rodrik Arryn, mother of Rhaenyra I, and wife of Viserys I, Aemma had a very hard life. With her mother perishing just days after her birth, Aemma was betrothed to her cousin Viserys at a very young age. Married at 11 with the marriage consummated at 13 while her husband was almost 18, Aemma’s life was plagued with numerous miscarriages, stillbirths, and children dead in the cradle, with many maesters agreeing that this was due to the early bedding of her too-young body. At 17, she gave birth to her first healthy child, whom she called Rhaenyra. When she was 23, she was pregnant yet again, giving birth to a son, who Viserys called Baelon after his father. Aemma died during labor as her mother before her, her son following suit the next day.
The second of the non-Targaryen queens is the doomed Aemma :( I am obviously team “Aemma had brown hair”, and I love the way she turned out. My shayla deserved so much better.

Queen Myriah Martell
The wife and queen of Daeron II “the Good” and mother to two kings, Aerys I and Maekar I, Myriah was a Dornish princess and sister to Prince of Dorne, Maron. Her marriage to Daeron and Maron’s marriage to Princess Daenerys brought Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms peacefully, finally uniting the realm. There is little known about her, but her marriage and reign were both said to be happy. After Daeron’s death in 209 of the Spring Sickness, their son Aerys succeeded them with his wife, Aelinor Penrose.

Shiera Seastar
The youngest Great Bastard of Aegon V “the Unworthy”, Shiera is described as being the most beautiful woman in the Seven Kingdoms. The daughter of a Lyseni woman called Serenai, she was whispered to be a master of the dark arts and blood magic in order to attain her beauty. While she never married, she was the long-time lover of her half-brother Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers and was the object of affection for her other half brother Aegor. Distinctive for her heterochromia, she had one blue eye and one green, and she wore a necklace of emerald and sapphire that enhanced their beauty. She lived during the reign of four kings, dying sometime after 211AC.

Queen Rhaella Targaryen
The doomed sister-wife and queen of Aerys II “The Mad”, Rhaella was the only daughter of Jaehaerys II and his sister-wife Shaera. Before she was wed to her brother, she was in love with Ser Bonifer Hasty, eventually becoming his queen of love and beauty. He loved her as well, but after her marriage and the end of their relationship, he turned to religion to ease his sadness. Pregnant eleven times in her life, most of her children died in infancy, leading to Aerys accusing his sister of infidelity and confining her to Maegor’s holdfast. Her husband was evil and took pleasure in her suffering, with him assaulting her regularly towards the end of his reign. Shortly after the birth of her last child, Daenerys, on Dragonstone, she succumbed to childbed fever and died at the age of 39.
I decided to depict her in the colors of House Hasty (purple and white), as I like to think that she took solace in the memories of her first love during her horrid marriage. My Shayla deserved so much better 💔

Queen Shaera Targaryen
Daughter of Aegon V and Betha Blackwood and sister-wife and queen of Jaehaerys II, not much is known about her. When she was fourteen, she and her brother disobeyed their parents and wed secretly, breaking their respective betrothals and causing great anger across the country, as Aegon V was extremely against the Targaryen tradition of intermarriage. Upon the tragedy of Summerhall, Jaehaerys ascended the throne, with Shasta his queen and their son Aerys (later called “the Mad”) their heir.
I think that, after so many generations of new Houses being introduced, the Targaryen features would be lessened, hence the brown hair with a streak of silver. Im almost done with the Targaryen Queen series! Next will be non-Targaryen queens, which will be so much fun to do.

Queen Daena Targaryen
Sister-wife and queen to her older brother Baelor “the Belssed”, Daena was the eldest daughter of Aegon III and his wife Daenaera. Willful, beautiful, and defiant, Daena and her sisters were locked in the Maidenvault by Baelor upon his ascension. Though he claimed it was to keep them away from the evils of the world, many suspected it was to resist his own temptation for his wife. Early into his reign, he dissolved his marriage to Daena, making her queen only for a short time. The mother of her cousin Aegon IV “the Unworthy” bastard son Daemon Blackfyre, she was a determined and cunning woman who was “a Targaryen to the bone”. It is unknown how or when she passed, but it was sometime after her uncle Viserys II ascended the throne.

Queen Rhaenyra I Targaryen
Beloved daughter and chosen, rightful heir of Viserys I Targaryen, Rhaenyra was a sharp and beautiful woman. Married first to her cousin Laenor, birthing three children by him, then to her uncle with an additional three children by him, she was the pinnacle of fertility and dragon riding. Usurped by her younger half-brother, she would eventually lose her first three sons and her daughter for the throne, eventually being overthrown and killed by Aegon II “the Usurper”. Her supporters did not rest, however, and the loyal Black factions successfully placed her son Aegon III on the Iron Throne. She was often referred to as “the Cruel”, but more widely as “the Dragon Queen” and “the Realm’s Delight”. She was bonded to the formidable dragoness Syrax, the youngest person to ever claim a dragon.
I love her so much! Next I think I will do Halaena :)

Queen Jaehaera Targaryen
Daughter of Aegon “the Usurper” and wife to her cousin, Aegon III “the Dragonsbane”, Jaehaera was the last surviving Green after the Dance aside from her grandmother, Alicent. A sickly and simple-minded child who rarely showed emotion, she was the twin to Jaehaerys and the rider of Morghul. Her marriage to Aegon ended the Dance, and after her death at age 11, the Usurper’s line was ended. Though the manner was officially suicide, it was whispered that the Hand was responsible in order to marry his daughter to the young king.
Jaehaera’s is such a sorrowful tale. If Aegon had never taken the throne, she would likely have led a long and happy life, but alas. I wanted to draw her similarly to Naerys, since their stories are so similar and equally tragic.

Queen Rhaena Targaryen
Eldest grandchild of the Conquerors, Rhaena was the sister-wife and queen of Aegon the Uncrowned, later the wife of her uncle, Maegor I, known commonly as “the Cruel”, and her last husband was Andrew Farman Having twin girls early into her first marriage, she loved her children but was distant due to their turbulent upbringing away from her. Rhaena was a lesbian, and she had many lovers throughout her life, including the sister of her last husband. After Androw poisoned her closest friends, she fed him to her dragon, Dreamfyre, and refused to marry again. She would eventually become the Lady of Harrenhal, and would pass aged 50, her ashes being interred with her brother Aegon, whom was the only man she truly loved.
I love love LOVE Rhaena! She should have been queen, in my opinion. I absolutely love the way she turned out! I’m unsure who to do next, but I should decide and finish by tomorrow :)

Argella von Sawyer
This is my very first commission! This is my friend’s original DnD character, Argella. She is a princess that has fallen from grace after failing a coup d’état to dethrone her father, and elf king. She craves power and wealth, and she has turned to a vigilante lifestyle. With her dagger belt and magic dice, she is a mischievous young woman with a pension for trickery.
I love how she turned out! She looks exactly how I was picturing her. I know I’m not amazing at digital art yet, but I hope I will get more commissions and practice to gain skill!

Queen Alysanne Targaryen
Granddaughter of The Conquerors, Alysanne was the sister-wife and queen of Jaehaerys I, also called ‘the Conciliator’. Having birthed thirteen times and seeing all but two perish before her, she was a pious and gentle woman who was much beloved by the people. A dragon rider to a she-dragon called Silverwing, she passed at age 64 from sickness just months after her last and favorite child, Gael, ended her own life.
This is my second work of all of the Targaryen queens! I really love how she turned out.

Queen Naerys Targaryen
One of the most tragic characters in ASOIAF, Naerys was the granddaughter of Rhaenyra I, daughter to Viserys II, and sister-wife of Aegon IV, also called ‘the Unworthy’. It was her dream to joint the Faith as a septa, but her father forbade it and she was married to her brother at fifteen. Pale and frail, she was very small and was not built for pregnancy, but her brother forced her. Having birthed six children with only two surviving to adulthood, she died aged 41 during childbirth, the son perishing with her.
I am going to make a series of all the Targaryen queens, so I wanted to start with my favorite.
