Ok so I know the state of the world is a shit show right now and I know asking for money is a huge deal. I hate doing this but I’m broke, I would one six hour shift a week because that’s all that’s available for work. My parents are in no position financially to help. We’re deep in debt and the only payment plan my vet offers is a credit line that has interest rates and fees, we can’t afford the treatment as it is, let alone more debt.Â
Anyways, my cat who is 100% my emotional support, the most important and stable thing I have in my life has been dealing with dental disease for a while now. Every yearly check up my vet points it out and every year it gets worse but I’ve never been able to afford the expenses for it on top of the expenses I’m already paying to cover his food allergies ($80 bag of kibble that he can’t eat anymore without putting water in to make it mushy, $30 flat of wet food that now goes much faster, $25 every time he needs his steroid, $30 for his steroid cream.)Â
He can’t eat properly anymore, I have to add water into kibble to soften it enough that he can comfortably eat it, if not I’m going through can after can of his wet food because it’s the only thing he’s able to properly eat. He has food allergies so he’s on a special hypoallergenic diet and changing his food isn’t an option. Any other thing I could do to help him (antibiotics / additives in water) are nothing more than temporary bandaids but they won’t fix or undo any of the damage he has already.Â
He requires a liquid steroid given by mouth whenever he has an allergic reaction, so he’s VERY comfortable with me going near his mouth and touching it, opening it, etc. But the pain in his teeth/gums have gotten to the point that he growls, meows and pulls away from me when I try.Â
At the end of the day, he’s in pain and discomfort, he can’t eat properly, I struggle to give him his steroid, there’s risks of abscesses and infections which could lead to even bigger problems. If things got bad enough an infection good possibly become fatal (getting into is blood and spreading.)Â
It may be a petty thing to some people but he’s got so much left in him and I can’t possibly sit by and let him continue to be in pain and discomfort the way he is, I can’t sit by and let him struggle to eat anything. It’s not ok.Â
SO if anyone can help, please do. Please share this to other people that can help. Just please, please help. Any amount goes a long way in the end.

My Catholic great-grandmother is in her nineties, and is more horrified by the amount of sugar I put in my coffee than anything else I have ever done or could possibly do.
She told off the entire rest of the family when they didn't approve of my marriage. I wore a hair cover when I went to mass with her on Easter a few years ago, because I had very bright blue hair, and she told me to take it off, and that the old biddies could deal with it because I looked beautiful. I haven't really explained gender to her, but she knows and always remembers that I changed my name and am happier now. She's voted Democrat in every election she could vote in and always taught me, more than anything, to be kind and to love openly.
But that woman lived through sugar rationing and she'll be damned if I use that much sugar in HER house.
