For the haunted au I had an devilish little thought. Has Optimus ever had a really bad time and when the primes try to give him advice he just shouts "you guy's FAILED!" Like for all their wisdom they couldn't beat the quintisons or see Sentinels betrayal coming?

He feels bad but in his spark he wishes HE didn't have to do what THEY couldn't.

absolutely evil thought that was inflicted upon me months ago and that i finally get to inflict upon the rest of y'all OTL

i can see it happening with the caveat that he immediately regrets saying it. but it's too late. it's the kind of thing you say in the heat of the moment and then feel the ground drop under your feet because you never meant to say it out loud. but now it's out there and you can never unsay it.

Thinking about how Orion Pax, my beloved, was spending basically all his free time trying to find a way to improve the lot of not just himself but all his fellows, with absolutely no real support from anyone, not even from his best friend D, who may have had Orion's back but also resented and disapproved of his actions. How Orion was right all along, getting rewarded by Primus himself with the Matrix of Leadership and ascension to Primehood, entrusted with the future of Cybertron. And all of that just renders him even more alone: D is gone and even if Optimus still has Elita and Bee and the Autobots who respect and follow him, as the only living Prime and leader of all Cybertron, there will always be a degree of separation between him and everyone else. And with both civil war and war with the Quintessons looming on the horizon even as he bears the responsibility of fixing the broken society that Sentinel left behind, the weight on his shoulders must be nothing short of immense. The culmination of Orion's character arc in this film, his resurrection and ascension as Optimus Prime, is both triumph and tragedy at the same time.
