Base Rule of Canonising AO3 Tags

To avoid overloading the servers and to make sure that the tags are likely to be used by multiple users, wranglers only canonise freeforms (or additional tags) that have been used by 3 different users on at least 3 different works (regardless of whether they are author- or bookmarker- assigned tags). For larger fandoms, some wranglers may also choose to wait for RO5 or more.

So if you want a concept to be canonised, please do tag that concept in the Additional Tag section when you post a related work or use it when you bookmark a work. The more it gets used, the faster it gets canonised!

Once the tag reaches RO3, it’ll be canonised by wranglers from that fandom and it may take a few hours for it to appear in the auto-complete and the Archive filters.
