Favorite PBS Kids Show Tournament: Final Words
So it’s finally over. After about eleven and a half days, the PBS Kids Show Tournament is finished and a winner has been decided.
I started this tournament after I received a significant amount of backlash (that I still get) over my initial favorite PBS Kids Show poll. Many people were upset that their favorite show wasn’t on the bracket, and I felt their pain. I knew that the angry comments asking where this or that show was were out of love and passion for a formative piece of artwork.
So when I started putting together this tournament, I wanted to put as many shows on the bracket as possible to give as many shows as I could a fair chance to win. I wanted as many people as possible to see their favorite show somewhere on the bracket. I wanted as many people as possible to be able to show their love for their favorite show in the form of a vote. I wanted to bring back warm memories in the minds of those who participated.
I will admit that I had a show or two that I secretly wanted to win, but I was committed to making the tournament as fair and unbiased as possible with as little interference from my end as I could. I wanted the tournament to reach its natural conclusion, and it seems like it did.
In my eyes, this tournament isn’t about winners and losers, it’s about love and dedication. I mainly wanted this tournament to bring out the love that people have for their favorite PBS kids shows. Maybe they were shows that shaped your youth and taught you a thing or two about the strange world around us. Maybe they were shows you watched with a child, a sibling, a cousin, a friend, and got sucked in. Or maybe they’re shows you watched in adulthood with no one else around because you love the shows regardless.
Over the course of this tournament I saw people talk about how deeply some shows impacted them and how much they adore the shows to this day. And despite some of these beloved shows not always coming out on top, the drive to vote to try to get them to win touched my heart.
In my eyes none of these shows are better or more sacred than any others. Even if your favorite show didn’t win, always let your love for it shine and be heard. Share your love with others and connect over it. Please never let anyone kill your joy.
Maybe in a few days or so I’ll make a highlight post about some significant events that happened during this tournament, there were some interesting ones.
If you’re still curious about me, the host, my main blog is @ifwebefriends and I have a reblog blog @iwbf-reblogs and a blog dedicated to the Milo Murphy’s Law character Vinnie Dakota @vinniedakotastanblog. I post to my main blog pretty frequently and occasionally to the other two.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for voting, for participating, for reblogging, for commenting, for leaving unique tags, for leaving feedback, for asking questions, and for being so dedicated and patient throughout this entire tournament. It wouldn’t have happened without you all. You have my gratitude for making this tournament fun and exciting. Take care and well wishes to all of you.

I know Bob's currently getting creamed in the match up against Bill Nye but genuinely thank you for adding it to the line up. my buddies and I don't get a ton of Bob content outside of people being slightly nostalgic for it every once in a while, so it was really fun to throw ourselves into this poll, we really looked forward to when the next round would drop so we could vote like madmen. lots of love to the host, all the voters, and all the other tiny fandom enjoyers 🫶
— the Bob the Builder autistics
Thank you for such a sweet message Anon! It warms my heart so much to know that these polls meant that much to you and your friends!
For me personally, I’m pretty sure I watched Bob the Builder when I was little, but I don’t really remember any particular episode or storyline. I also remember I had a small toy version of the orange cement mixer character (I’m sorry I don’t remember the name). I wasn’t a huge fan but it still helped to make my childhood what it was.
From what I have seen, every show, book, movie, or any piece of artistic work has at least one person who adores it and wants their love for it to be heard. When I started this tournament, I wanted to right the wrongs of my original favorite PBS Kids Show poll and give as many shows as I could a fair, fighting chance to win. But even if someone’s favorite show didn’t end up winning or even getting through the first round, I hoped that they would enjoy their favorite show being seen and recognized and would be glad they had a chance to show their love, even in the way of a single button click.
Even though Bob the Builder might not win, you came together to make your love for the show heard. It seems like either way, you got some enjoyment out of this tournament and one of your favorite shows got some long-overdue recognition.
Admittedly, it’s been repetitive work running this tournament, but I’m so happy to know that it’s fulfilling the purpose that I intended for it.
Thank you again for your sweet message, and thank you for voting. Always let your love be heard. ❤️
