One may think this is a trick question, what with them being black and white toons, but surprise- they ARE familiar with colors!

As for what their favorites would be...

Ollie's is teal, the kind you see when you look up at sunlight shining down from beneath the surface of a large body of water while swimming up for a breath...

Okay I'm like a day late to this but *slams hands down on table* HERE WE GO, here's some tidbits I haven't had an excuse to write anywhere else yet!

(Basic info for those just tuning in: Frank and Sailboat Ollie are toon ocs based on Felix the Cat and Steamboat Willie (Mickey Mouse) respectively, because yay public domain! They star in a mystery cartoon together as private detectives and their setting's kind of a toon noir, 1950s Who Framed Roger Rabbit sorta deal, so there's also some meta narrative going on behind the scenes of the cartoon)

Ollie:

Full name is Ollie Oxinfrey, "Sailboat Ollie" is a nickname he gave himself derived from the first short he ever starred in, though the studio never refers to him by that outside of directly referencing the title of the short itself.

His creator, Mort Sidney, is still currently alive… but despite his warm fatherly demeanor on camera or in public, he's rather distant with his creations and is often too busy helming the Next Big Project to spend any actual time with them. Ollie may have seen him as a father figure way back when he was newly made, but has grown disillusioned since.

Started off with a bright n' sunny, curious, and adventurous disposition. Now he's… well, he's still curious and adventurous!

Takes things apart and puts them back together just to keep himself busy sometimes.

Aside from being good at building things, he's also pretty decent at disguises.

Tends to be more quiet and observant whenever he doesn't have to put on a performance. When it comes to mystery solving, he's often the one piecing things together in the background while Frank distracts.

If he got to have one wish without repercussions it'd be to leave the studio behind and travel the world.

Despite his relationship with Frank having a rough start, he appreciates that Frank does not, nor has ever given a single shit about status or Who He Is. He knows Frank won't bullshit him, and because of that he feels comfortable just relaxing and being himself around him.

Grinds his teeth a lil when relaxed and sleepy- which may seem odd until you remember he's a rodent.

The sea… it calls to him…

Frank:

Doesn't have a magic bag or similar artifact of any kind for any villains to covet, but… trouble still has a way of finding him regardless.

Is older than Ollie, having been made in the silent film era. He straight up spoke in text balloons for roughly the first decade or so of his life, and had no idea what his voice sounded like until later on when he finally got transferred over to talkies. It… took some adjusting, especially since he didn't like how it originally sounded. He loves the voice he has now, though!

Still has a few holdovers from originally being a silent era toon- Tends to gesture more with his hands when talking, and pulls more exaggerated poses/expressions. (And while he doesn't do it nearly as often now as he used to, one thing that's common in silent era toons that were later given voices is echolalia- sometimes when talking or listening to someone else talk, they'll get stuck on a word that has an interesting sound and might repeat it again quietly.)

His original creator, Jack Mulligan, was… not a good man. He's deceased as of 1933 (Just one year after the closure of his studio in 1932), and Frank did not mourn him.

He has a very loose continuity, and has had to learn to just kind of roll with it. It wasn't super solid to begin with, but it really broke down a lot following an incident in 1928. If he wasn't at least somewhat anchored to Ollie's continuity thanks to starring in cartoons together, it's anyone's guess where he'd be right now.

Is unapologetically a cat, and as such WILL do stupid cat things. Is affected by catnip. Tail poofs up when startled. Deep, rumbly purrs when he's well and truly relaxed and happy. His favorite food is fish, for cryin' out loud.

Hates the feeling of wearing anything around his neck. Tends to leave the top buttons of his shirt undone because of it.

He owes Ollie's older brother Walter 5 bucks. He's owed it for years. Walter's had it up to here with him.

Is far more comfortable than Ollie is when it comes to approaching strangers and/or engaging in small talk. When mystery-solving, sometimes he'll play up the 'big stupid guy' angle to gather info. It's not a 100% comparison by any means, but if Ollie's more like a Sherlock when it comes to mysteries, Frank's deffo more of a Columbo.

Has seen too much.

Back on antibiotics this time because while the cold went away, the sinus issues have gotten worse and are now fuckin' up my left eye as well as my left ear, messing up my vision a lil in that eye and making it feel like it's gonna pop out... .w.

If things don't improve this time or get worse, I was told to go somewhere with an MRI machine next to get my head scanned, so fingers fuckin' crossed;;
