2/13/19 - Bring Me The Horizon

On Wednesday February 13th I had the privilege of seeing one of my all time favorite bands for the second time - Bring Me The Horizon. The tour, call the First Love Tour, came after their newest studio album, amo. A 13 track album running 51 minutes, it marks a new adventure for the British rock band. Utilizing less aggressive vocals and more electronic sounds, it proved to do anything but calm fans at the show. With the raging Fever 333 and classic Thrice as the opening acts, the bands did not disappoint in insanity. As soon as the lead singer Oliver Sykes of BMTH hit the stage, there was no stopping the crowd from rushing and screaming their lungs off. Opening with one of their most popular singles off amo, the crowd jumped along with “Mantra,” myself included. The setlist was a killer blend off of my 3 personal favorite albums, Sempiternal, That’s The Spirit, and amo. Only one calm moment was felt at the Forum that night, and it was during Syke’s acoustic rendition of “Drown.” Getting close and personal with all the fans at the show, the song brought tears to many eyes. My personal favorite of the night was a resentful tune by the name of “Medicine,” a stab at Syke’s ex-wife for her less than faithful ways, the track invites one to take a taste of their own backstabbing medicine. When it came to songs from their old album, it was the rules of the jungle for the fans in the pit (where I was faithfully located almost the entire night). Everybody would thrash about to the old hits, with numerous mosh pits unfolding, people falling, and many fans young and old fighting to get to the front. Bring Me The Horizon was on top of the world that night, with never failing notes, and a more than energetic crowd, it was an unforgettable night. Despite being torn from my family and friends, spending all my money that night, and almost passing out (stay hydrated!) - I would do it all again! ((Sykes is currently suffering from a ruptured vocal cord, so the band had to cancel the remainder of the tour just days later.))
