Oh how poetic it is, how beautiful. Jeremy wants it so much! Jean may need a partner because the echo of the Ravens system haunts him, but Jeremy desperately craves one for other reasons. He wants someone who will stand by his side no matter what. Someone who cannot lie and betray him at any second.

And then the universe gives him Jean. That tall grumpy frenchman with horrible backstory. Who throws his jerk of a brother into the windshield, who threatens to kill for him, who will chose him every time even if it means he must sacrifice everyone and everything. Because at first it was Jeremy who was wiling to give his everything to help Jean.

So maybe their story is about that deep loyalty, about choosing each other in the face of darkest fears.

We see how Jeremy is facing the Willshires’ violence and injustice. He is in so much trouble. He’s not fighting a plain evil, which would be so much easier. He’s standing against his family. His own mother who doesn’t love him (but Jeremy still wishes to be loved by her), his own younger sister who treats him like shit (and still is his lil sis, his Annie), his own elder brother who let him down (and maybe he just didn’t get his fam’s help he needed so bad back then), and his own lil bro who grew hatred for him (but Jeremy still misses him and is looking for something, anything that could reconnect them even if it’s something so ugly as hatred). Wilshires may be terrible people, but some of them will always be Jeremy’s people even if they keep hurting him. They happen to be his messed up family, evil or not.

And in the face of the disaster Jeremy is so small and lonely. Something horrible is coming and maybe he will lose his ground, but Jean will be there to catch him. The knight in shining armor, ready to shield Jeremy and draw his sword and fight them all. Because maybe this time the king cannot do this on his own. His king is too connected to the monsters to bring them down.

That’s when “king and lionheart” by OMAM starts playing in the background and I start crying

Yes, Jean survived five years of the Ravens because he had Zane, and Kevin, and because he got out before it imploded, and because there was a team of success stories waiting for him to join and build a future with when he left, but ultimately? Ultimately Jean survived because no amount of knives and hatred in the world could possibly beat all the love out of that boy.

I would love to see kerejean become canon as long as people won’t start excluding one of them from the throuple, I don’t think I could handle people talking about how “Jeremy/Kevin should not be there”, LIKE PLEASE MAKE THEM LOVE EACH OTHER THE SAME AMOUNT WITHOUT PREFERENCES

It makes me so unbelievably angry when people simplify Jean’s feelings towards Kevin so much. They have such a complicated history so their relationship is not and will never be simple. Yes, Jean was in love with Kevin and he still probably is, but that’s not all there is to it!! Logically he knows Kevin couldn’t protect him at the Nest, but subconsciously he still resents him for not doing it. Kevin was the only person who was kind to him at Edgar Allan so obviously 16 years old Jean got attached to him and put him on a pedestal. He was also brainwashed at the Nest and made believe that leaving EA and the Ravens is not something they’re allowed to do, so obviously he hates Kevin for doing the complete opposite and he sees it as betrayal. Plus Kevin made him promise not to kill himself which is literally the only reason he’s still alive, so that shows how much he cares for Kevin, for not killing himself when it’s the only thing he wanted to do, but also hates him because K was the only obstacle in his plan.

Also we know establishing any type of bond at the Nest is extremely difficult, but I believe Kevin and Jean were once friends (Jean taught Kevin french, Kevin gifted Jean postcards and magnets from the places he visited), but I don’t think they are anymore, because their history and past are incredibly complex and hard.

Also Jean believes his feelings are not required so I think he holds a little resentment for that too.

(I haven’t finished reasing tgr yet (yes I know I’m extremely late to the party) so idk if some of these aspects of their relationship have changed in later chapters)

Anyway hope I made myself clear with my “explanation” :)
