Thinking about Yeon Dongha and his very cool dubious metal science company and how it all stems from his rejection of his own trauma 👍🏻👍🏻

He says many things about why he has started this research, but as I mentioned before, Dongha doesn't show his true intentions unless his hand is forced. He says it's a business opportunity, it's to redeem the conglomerates reputation after the scandal.

But then Chungsung sees through that and points out that by offering himself as a labrat to the metal research, he'd have to continue being Amprule. He is not a cog in the conglomerates machine, he is just a selfish child. Then Dongha does show parts of his intent (why keep hiding when his butler can see through what he presents) like, if it succeeds more people will get interested in music? He then proceeds to show his biblical level of greed, but he also says this:

Dongha: I am serious about my intent to establish a foundation. Continuing to use phantometal without regard for trap reactions is a recipe only for ruin. This is not a problem only for other people; this is a problem that affects me as well...

Do they glance over this to have their borderline cartoon villian conversation? Sure. But I'm mentally unwell and I've listened to this drama track many times and I do think this is a bigger reason for this whole thing.

Now, Dongha craves the approval of his father, this is not news, however, his trauma is also likely related to his father, this is also not news. But, Dongha has not been acknowledging (nor is he still acknowledging) that something is deeply wrong with the way his father treats him. And don't get me wrong, he sees that something is off here and that's why he also craves Amprule. There's also a tangent here about how he projects all that to Hajun to keep pretending that things are 'alright', but this whole thing is long enough as is.

But let's think about it, you're a child who is trying to cling to some type of freedom from your neglectful father, but you're still a child and it's only natural for a child to want the love of his parent. So, what do you do when the metal that makes you re-experience your trauma shows you your father? What do you do when your brain shows you proof about the thing you've been trying to avoid and endure for so long?

Well, of course you launch an elaborate plan to establish dubious metal research and try to stomp out the concept of a trap reaction from existence!! Then you can keep ignoring your fathers neglect and continue to play the free bird when you can, because after a while it will all be yours and you won't have to comply with his restrictions!! Its simply the perfect crime!!!
