hey, just wanted to say i am obsessed with your ml fics. i got into the fandom like a year and a half ago and i've read loads of fics but the ones i constantly go back to are all yours, to the point where they've inspired me to explore writing ml fics too. i wanted to ask, how do you come up with your chapter titles, and do you think of them before the story and then plot around that or does it come to you after the plot comes together? most writers on ao3 tend to not really name chapters, but my favorite thing about your fics is that all the chapter titles belong to the same general theme and connect together, while also fitting the events taking place in the chapter. it really sets the stage and it's such a cool aspect of stories i don't even see much in current novels anymore.

i so wish i was writing this on my laptop so i could show you my notes app doc of all my chapter titles. how i come up with them sort of depends on the story. spent a lot of time googling “ice puns.” a lot of the time, i just jot down potential titles as they pop into my brain — i have a whole list that got scrapped, actually. (i played with the idea of snow & driveways for waaay too long for cwm and it ended up not working) for me, chapter titles help me to remember better what happened in specific chapters, which makes it easier to continue writing!

for come what may, i used the ch names to actually help with the planning of the plot. so for many of the chapters, i actually had the title before a fully fleshed out chapter. Like, “Ice Queen” I figured out pretty early on, but “Shatter” came about halfway thru writing that chapter. as i figured out the overall story plot, i’d match chapter titles to about where i thought they’d end up plot wise on my big list of names. i hope this somewhat makes sense? it’s much easier if you can just visually see it, but again, not on my laptop :(

i also don’t actually plan anything out when i write, which i know is not the norm — I have a general plot idea & write the scenes that interest me and then go in and fill in the blanks to make them all connect. (like the ending line of cwm was one of the first things i wrote. i just had to figure out how to get there.)

for disrespectfully yours, the process was pretty similar, but since i’d done it with cwm once before already, i had a stronger direction to go in. like, for ex: i knew from the beginning that the content of ch. 19 was always going to be called “breaking the news” what can i say? i love double meanings & puns

beyond our reaches is the only one that didn’t really follow that pattern. it was a lot shorter, so i didn’t really have as much plot to track. i knew all the chapter titles would be song based, but i picked them as i went along, rather than knowing in advance. like “the archer”? came up with it 5 mins before publishing. “wash my hands of us” was going to be the title as soon as i wrote that line. my naming process has definitely gotten a lot less anxious since the cwm/dymdc days :)

like ch. 3 of dymdc prequel already has a name and i’ve barely started writing the chapter, so it’s certainly gotten more intuitive as i do it more frequently.

My redesign/rewritting of Gabriel Agreste:

Decided to do a Gabriel Agreste Redesign as the first of my redesign project, cuz I gotta say his old design, the white one and the og just sucked 😭 (sorry Thomas) so yeah I had some fun with it, I wanted to keep his colours (white, red and black) but give him an outfit that would scream to me that he is a wealthy man, who is strict and who is into fashion, maybe even a designer himself, the rose in all his clothing is supposed to symbolise his love to Emilie, that she is always close to his heart, as well as his miraculous, that is hidden under the rose.

In the right below corner (of the last image) we have a look at Gabriel before Emilie succumbed to her desease, I also changed the shape of his glasses to be a bit more “designer looking”
