Sam: “What’s eight down?” Daniel: “Uhm…label. With those empty spaces I think the answer is supposed to be identification. Thirteen across is sphere.”

I love fanfic writers because fanfiction is just so kind and selfless. You give us really enjoyable stories completely free of charge and I am really, really grateful for it.

Worst part about reading fanfics? I think it's when you get hooked on a WIP that hasn't been updated in years.

THIS
Why do you support Slytherin... when all of them are evil or prejudiced?!
Well, that is the most simplistic and laziest characterisation of Slytherin I’ve ever heard.
Traditional Slytherin values are: cunning, ambition, resourcefulness, leadership qualities, traditionalism, self-preservation and determination.
The reason why I like Slytherin House above all others is because I really appreciate all the “Slytherin” values I’ve listed above. There’s nothing wrong with them. People can be traditionalist without being prejudiced. People can be cunning without being cruel. People can value self-preservation without being cowardly. People can have leadership qualities and use them without turning into oppressors.
Explain to me why “Slytherin cunning” is more “evil” than ”Hufflepuff loyalty,” when the latter can turn out just as harmful if the person you’re blindly loyal to is an evil one. Or how about rash “Gryffindor courage”? Did we not see how that one can be harmful in the Order of the Phoenix, when Harry blindly rushed to the Ministry to “rescue” Sirius? And what happens when “Ravenclaw intelligence” is used for less than savoury means, like Gilderoy Lockhart did?
Because of certain characters in the books, Slytherin traditionalism is interpreted as “elitism/blood-racism,” cunning is interpreted as “evil,” self-preservation is interpreted as “cowardice” and so on… And let’s be real, as much as I adore JKR, her representation and characterisation of Slytherin House is one of the laziest parts of her writing. (Do you actually expect me to believe NONE of the Slytherin students wanted to fight against Voldemort? Not even one? Nope.)
What’s wrong with all the Harry Potter Houses’ values is how people twist them to their own ends and use them to spread intolerance and hurt other people. Every single one of them can be used for good, and every single one of them can be used for evil.
Furthermore, I don’t think Andromeda Tonks (a pureblood Slytherin who got disowned and left her family to marry a Muggle-born, and also lost her only daughter and her husband in the Second Wizarding War against Voldemort), all the former Slytherins who followed Slughorn into the Battle of Hogwarts and Regulus Black (who sacrificed his life at the age of eighteen to stop Voldemort) would appreciate you calling ALL Slytherins evil or prejudiced.
Is Slughorn (who is a prejudiced man, despite being firmly against Voldemort) really a less moral character than Gilderoy Lockhart, a former Ravenclaw, who erased people’s memories and took credit for their work? Is Peter Pettigrew, a former Gryffindor, any “better” of a person than Severus Snape?
If you actually think ALL Slytherins throughout the history have been evil, or if you actually believe it is the House values themselves rather than the people and their means are what create evil… then you’ve been reading the books wrong all along.
