He was content, in the dim light under Bug's alter. The dirt floor was soft, but not yet wet enough to be mud. Arlin dragged his fingers across the floor to the right of him, doodling stick figures and then rubbing them out as the constant hum of the alter he was bound to ran through his head. A small change in the pitch, and Arlin's lips parted, letting out a thin whine as the humming deepened and the carefully made cuts on his arms opened up to provide the alter with his blood.

He knew Bug was out, and this meant that Bug was having to sap his network for something. He groaned, fingers abandoning doodling and digging ragged nails into the earth, back arching and toes curling as he squirmed- and then shrieked as the floor caved in below him and he was sent crashing downwards.

He hit something hard with an "oof" and then felt dirt below him again. Arlin wasn't granted much time to catch his breath, and he let out an embarrassing half-pained, half-euphoric noise as the alter continued to drain him.
