Raising little hunters : Day 4

Four days ago, my oothecas hatched.

I haven't had the chance to raise mantids in a long time, and dearly missed it. I'm hoping this little experiment will be a success, and that I can start a breeding project.

These are Chinese mantids (Tenodera sinensis). They are commonly sold as natural pest control for gardens.

I am hoping that they will grow big and strong, like their Wildmother 💖

They are currently enjoying their first meal, some small fruit flies (some of them also started eating each other of course, such is the way of life). Stay tuned for more!

Went outside after midnight and was gifted with a really cool experience.

Spotted one of these beauties pollinating my Jasmine bush, a White lined Sphinx moth...

I had no idea they pollinated at night, though moths like these are more diurnal or crepuscular. So my mind is kinda fucking blown right now lol.

I was on the porch and saw like a big moth flutter around the jasmine bush, so I went over to check it out and hello big beautiful moth totally acting like a humming bird after midnight. Pretty fucking magical.

I didn't get a picture, because my phone was dead, but that fine, because I often just hold still and enjoy magical moments like this without bothering with my phone. So I used an internet pic.

And, it was especially nice, because I had just read a bit about "glimmers" on a random mental heath FB post. I think glimmers is an awesome concept, they happen to me frequently, so it was nice to be greeted by a midnight glimmer.

I'm also a deep believer in faeries and fae folk, so this random encounter with a the moth felt magical and very fae.

Additionally, I a HUGE bug nerd, so it was double lucky and a double glimmer.

So, on one hand my mind was exploding because super cool moth and on the other my mind was wispering...*it's a faerie..*

This all happend because I was supposed to be going to bed, but was giving my old lady cat cuddles (her name is Goblin) until my phone died. Then went outside and was giving Miss Kitty (a stray that adopted us and is currently enjoying the summer nights) some cuddles when I spotted the moth.

So, be nice to kitties, they are magical as fuck.

Okay but the thing about veilguard reviews is I don’t care what the gaming review sites think. I especially don’t care what some random ytuber who’s probably just grifting right wing nutjobs for easy money and has never actually played the games before thinks. I don’t even care what an unrelated but accomplished rpg dev thinks

The only opinions I want to hear are from 7 trustworthy sickos (affectionate) who had their brain chemistry permanently altered over a decade ago by critically hated yet loved by me specifically video game Dragon Age 2, and only after I hear those opinions will I decide if I’m buying it or not

bug boi. I feel like he would have inner mandibles in the sense that the can be flattened behind his cheeks and stem from the gums above the canine teeth. Not very noticeable since the coloring matches the inside of his gums and cheek. I also think his antenna would start off small and the coloring is very similar to his hair color and would blend in. I believe that once he gets access to hair gel he does put his hair up in a way that his antenna remain hidden even as they get longer. Also near his atenna he could have the organ of Tömösváry, which is a bunch of sensitive cells that can detect vibrations. (Kai would most likely hate people touching his hair or scalp bc of this)

Also since centipedes have multiple limbs, Kai may have extra small ones that are hidden by his gi and multiple layers of clothing. And since centipedes can have a number of ocelli which sometimes clustered together to form true compound eyes then Kai would have something similar beneath both eyes. These eyes, like true centipedes, can only recognize changes in light, making Kai have them closed. Not sure wether to add this but centipedes also have forcipule's which are pincer-like, front legs of centipedes that are used to inject venom into prey. These would most likely be located either behind his jaw or where his neck meets his shoulders (the latter is more likely) and would probably cover these up with his bandana and high neckline clothing. Also ground beetles, ants, and spiders can eat centipedes. :] Plus this explains why he thinks naps are awesome. Centipedes are nocturnal. :)
