Inspired by my Art Fight attacks this year I made character cards for some of my own characters. There will be more on the way eventually.
If you want your own character trading card I do commissions! Find me over on Ko-Fi!

Which Magic card artwork has always stuck with you? Terror Based on the original Alpha artwork by Ron Spencer This is a very important card to me, and I'm so happy to have been able to adapt it as well as I did. This was one of the first cards I ever got as a kid - maybe 4th Ed, definitely white border - and I was fascinated by the raw emotion that was captured by the artist. A feeling that I didn't have the language to express, one that wasn't really talked about in my family, but one that I would become all too familiar with. Even when I stopped playing Magic, this artwork would always pop up in my head when I was feeling particularly hopeless. Things are generally better nowadays - I'm getting professional mental healthcare, I have supportive people around me, and I'm learning more about myself and allowing myself the space to challenge preconceptions - but I can't say that I don't still become that creepy little dude cowering in the dark.

Healing Salve Based on the original Alpha artwork by Dan Frazier THIS ONE SIMPLE CARD completely INVALIDATES Lightning Bolt. Modern players hate her. TOO STRONG FOR THE RESERVE LIST!

Dark Ritual Based on the original Alpha artwork by Sandra Everingham
Idk how to feel about this card. I feel like I'd enjoy a storm-like deck, but I hate taking super long turns where my opponents just sit there. I also feel like, when I put this in my deck, it only shows up on T4 or something when it's no longer relevant. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Giant Growth Based on the original Alpha artwork by Sandra Everingham
We don't see a ton of straight up pump spells seeing play anymore, but I love this funky little (big) mouse.

Ooooh, they're so flavorful! I love the choice of illustrations, the frame transparency, the watermarks. It's all making the little 7-year-old me incredibly giddy

Lightning Bolt Based on the original Alpha artwork by Christopher Rush
I love playing red, I love aggro, and I love bolting face. Definitely the only card in the Boon Cycle that I actually play regularly.

Arcane Signet This was the first proxy that I made that wasn't based on pre-existing artwork! Super happy with how it turned out, and it started a love for making pixel art flames.

Sapphire Medallion Based on the original Tempest artwork by Sue Ellen Brown Surely mono-blue can't pull off any shenanigans with cost-reduction effects, right? And making this an artifact surely won't cause any unintentionally strong synergies with other blue cards.

Ruby Medallion Based on the original Tempest artwork by Sue Ellen Brown I play a ton of pauper, and I'm so excited that mono-R is the card advantage color now! I don't have any mono-R EDH decks, but I love burning face and would love suggestions.

Pearl Medallion Based on the original Tempest artwork by Sue Ellen Brown Mono-White needs all the ramp they can get, and this was ~$40 when I made these originally.

Jet Medallion Based on the original Tempest artwork by Sue Ellen Brown This one is super special to me - it was my first non-land proxy I made, possibly even before the Lotus Petal. It also will forever live in my Syr Konrad EDH deck.
