While lining the inside of the mouth and from up close I was lamenting how bad it looked, but from a distance I admit it does look good. And I need to remember that other people at the con aren't going to be getting so up close and personal with it than I am, the one putting it on his fucking head, and it's like how when the regular stuffed Sly I hate the process but they grow on me when I've had the heads for a while.

I think I'm going to give this monster different horns tbh. Little ones. Because I'm not sure how trying to attach the central stubby horn is going to work with the foam base.

Also need to line the inside of the mouth.

Despite not being what I wanted, I still am growing attached to this guy.

Think I'll add some patches and stuff to differentiate him from Sly. Even though the rest of the impromptu cosplay is meant to resemble Sly.

Idk.

His upper jaw is crooked and he's got holes in the fabric but he's presentable and that's all that matters right now.

It's 5AM so I'm forcing myself to go to bed but

I think I'm gonna be going to the convention.

Fingers crossed.

It's a temporary Sly head and cannot be put in the washing machine, but I'm finally getting somewhere.

I am "furring" it like you traditionally build a fursuit head (foam and glue) rather than trying to achieve the final result using just soft sculpture sewing work (how the official Sly II's head works)

I am immensely disappointed that this ultimately comes down to "Finsterhund can't fucking replicate the Sly heads) but at least it looks like I'm going to have an end result that I can at least be seen in. That looks decent. Looks like a Sly.

So there's that.

Eventually, I do want a fully machine washable Sly head, but I guess gluing the fabric down to a solid base works for now. I'm in a rush. Whatever.

My dream of "Sly head where you can open and close the mouth using the snaps like with Sly II" is unreachable for now. This head will be permanently open so it's more of a Sly hat or a Sly headdress. *Shrugs*

So there's these things that are mass produced

Now imagine there's a full neck and throat pouch so it actually looks like you are the creature than just wearing its head. And imagine you can close the mouth using snaps. And imagine it's Sly. And imagine that is Andy Finsterhund wearing it.

That's what I was attempting.

The idea may be to just get one of these costume hats and see how it's made and then reverse engineering it. But I don't have the time for that right now.

It's also going to be (a) Sly I think. Not an OC. Because fabric is bullshit and I hate this shitty ass not silk stuff I thought I could line the head with but turns out it's a fucking nightmare to work with.

I need gluesticks though. I thought I knew where my reserve supply of them was but my room has since become the site of some sort of tornado or crime scene so it's impossible to find anything that isn't my fabric collection right now.

So the base is half with the fabric skin glued down. Currently just the upper half of the skull.

The specific buttons is gonna be different but I loosely attached that one because it's around the same size I want and it's where I want to place it.

I wasn't going to give this monster Sly's signature stubby little horn but since this does look like it is going to be Sly I guess I must right?

Try not to beat yourself up over this, buddy. Sometimes things go wrong. I understand you really wanted to go to the con with your Sly costume. Even if you can't cosplay at the con, you could (and should!) still go and have fun. You deserve to have a little fun. Maybe if you can't go as Sly yourself, you can still take Sly with you and have fun together.

Project Sly costume is in very deep trouble.

In classic Finsterhund fashion, everything has immediately gone to shit at the most crucial moment. I am not sure I can salvage the Sly head.

It should come at no surprise that if the project fails I will not be going to the convention at all and will be staying in my bedroom crying.

But I'm not going to give up just yet. There's a chance the fabric I used is just fucking shit so I'll be trying again with different fabrics.

Very distraught about this and it is 4AM.

desperately wish I could remember the original context of developing the echolalia "hims is making the sosiges" because I can't explain it to anyone without sounding entirely insane. Like I believe it was when I was loopy from some sort of medication and randomly for some reason a very topical screenshot from the music video of pink floyds the wall showed up in a google search? But I don't even know if that was the context. It was so long ago I can't even find when I first fucking posted it initially. if I ever did or if it was just something only my poor pathetic little brain was subjected to.

I know "sosig" as a really bad stupid misspelling of sausage originally comes from a Gordon Ramsey meme but at what point did making the sosages enter the finsterhund lexicon
