Reasons to marry me: We'd eat pizza and listen to good music together and we'd probably fuck 14 times a week and buy too many pets and build pillow forts.

I had a thought for a prompt.  Clarke is a demigod, daughter of zeus. And lexa is a daughter of hades. And they get along and do stuffs
(I sort of went Percy Jackson mixed with Disney’s Hercules on this one. Hope that works for the user who asked for it.)
“Clarke, be quiet.” Lexa whispers as she yanks the blonde down by the sleeve. The bank of the river they are standing on is just serene enough that the guardian at the falls just ahead could definitely hear them if one of them spoke loud enough or stood tall enough to be seen.
Clarke huffs as she squats next to the brunette. “I just don’t understand why you drag me along on these foolhardy adventures.”
“Foolhardy advent - Clarke. How else are we supposed to make the leap from demi-god’s to actual gods? We have to prove ourselves worthy.” Lexa explains in a hushed tone. She narrows her eyes and cocks her head to the side. “I thought you wanted that too?”
“I do. Well, I did. Doesn’t being a god sound kind of… boring?” Clarke fidgets in her place, toeing the dirt under her. “You’re my best friend and I get that it’s what you’ve always wanted, but, I don’t know anymore.”
Lexa regards her seriously for a moment, then nods and smiles. “We can talk about this later, after we save that kid from the river guardian. I want you to do what makes you happy too.”
They execute their plan perfectly and and return the missing child to it’s mother before returning back to their shared apartment, and Lexa cracks open two cold beers before settling down into the couch next to Clarke. It’s quiet and peaceful and Clarke lets her head drop back onto the couch and she sighs contentedly.
“So, what is it you want to do?” Lexa turns her body toward her best friend, looking eager for her answer, something the blonde hadn’t expected when she imagined this conversation.
“I’m not sure. College sounds fun. Maybe art school. I didn’t expect you to be so gung ho for me abandoning the cause.”
Lexa frowns. “Of course I support you, Clarke. You’re my best friend. I even supported you when you wanted to date that dirty hippy boy.”
Clarke laughs a full bellied laugh. “Finn was not a hippy.”
“Looked like one.” Lexa mutters. “Okay, so college. Which one? Where? When?”
“I don’t know Lex. But I’ll still help you til I figure it out, okay?” Lexa nods and they smile at each other as they clink their drinks together.
One Month Later
“Last mission a success. Tomorrow, Art school!” Clarke twirls happily under the stars, her skirt billowing out as she turns. Lexa’s leaning against the hood of her ‘65 Mustang, the one thing she has purchased with the wealth from her family. She brings her after mission celebratory beer to her lips and smiles at the carefree nature of her friend. “Do you think my dad is proud of me, even though I am not trying to become a god any more?”
“Immensely. Zeus would be an idiot not to be proud of you.”
Clarke stops her appraisal of the stars long enough to smile at her friend. Her smile turns into a frown when she sees the Azgeda gang making their way over to the hilltop where she and Lexa were minding their own business. Lexa notices and looks back over her shoulder to see the three approaching figures.
“Roan, Echo, Ontari. What is it that you want tonight?” Lexa bites.
“Well, looks like someone wants you dead, little devil.” Ontari skips around them in a circle magically unrolling a scroll which glows and floats in front of her. “Pissed off the wrong titan it seems. Tisk tisk.”
Clarke snatches the scroll out of the air and reads it. It’s a hitman’s contract for Lexa’s head. She gasps and claps a hand over her mouth. She looks up in time to see the giant fireballs both Echo and Roan are forming, then she looks at Lexa who is looking at her with so much sadness.
“I’m sorry, Clarke. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine without me. I’ll love you forever.” Lexa turns toward the inferno awaiting and she hears Clarke scream. Both Roan and Echo mouth their apologies and in unison, they launch their fireballs at her. Just as she accepts her fate and braces herself, she feels her body being flung away from the white hot heat. She hits the grass with a thud and she turns to see Clarke in her place. Her clothes are charred and her hair and skin are burned nearly beyond recognition. “No no no no no…” She scrambles to her feet and rushes back to her friend’s side, gently lifting her limp body into her lap. “Clarke, no. What did you do? Clarke!”
“It’s okay Lex. Let me go.” Clarke coughs. “I’ll love you forever, too.” Clarke’s life slips away and her eyes dim. The sky above them turns thunderous and a crack of lightning touches down a few feet from them.
“Fuck, Lexa, bring her back.” Roan demands. “You can do that, use your power.”
“It’s not the same. It’s not like that.” She mutters, still holding onto her friend. Lightning strikes the ground again and a massive boom is heard overhead at the same time. The three Azgedian’s look back to see a tall, well built blond man striding up the hill. Lexa doesn’t move as the man kneels next to her. “Hi Jake.” She sniffles as she uses Zeus’s earth name, just like Abby does when she tells tales of him.
“Hey kiddo.”
“This is my fault. It’s all my fault.”
He gently lifts Clarke’s off of her lap and lays her on the ground. “It’s not your fault. You’ve been a very good friend to her, and we are all immensely proud of you. Both of you.” Jake leans back over the lifeless body of his daughter and kisses her forehead. The he looks over next hill and sees the his old friend walking with the spirit of his daughter. As they get closer, Lexa tears up again. The man whispers something into the spirit’s ear and she smiles at Lexa before looking at her father. The the spirit frowns at her lifeless body, then lays down on top of it. A brilliant light flashes and Lexa shields her eyes with her forearm. When she looks back, Clarke is standing in front of her, completely healed of all injuries and emitting a soft, almost golden glow.
“Clarke’s act of true selflessness in the face of imminent danger was enough to prove her worthy to join us on Mount Olympus.” Jake explains.
“Clarke has chosen to stay here, on earth, Zeus. Her one request was to wipe away the contract on Lexa’s life. Which I appreciated.” Hades explains to the leader of the gods.
Jake’s eyes shine and he embraces his daughter. “Love you and I’ll be watching over you, always. I am so proud of you.”
“Thanks, Dad.” Clarke hugs him back. When their embrace is over he snaps his fingers and the contract for Lexa’s head shreds itself and falls to the ground.
“Oh, and you three.” Zeus points to Roan, Ontari and Echo. “You three better hope you never see me again.” They all turn tail and run as fast as they can away from the hilltop.
Hades silently makes his way to his daughter, hugs her and whispers in her ear before turning to leave along with Zeus. “Bye Gus.” He waves and this in the span it takes her her to blink her eyes, they’re gone. “Clarke.” Lexa rushes forward and the young women excitedly embrace. Lexa pulls back and cups the blonde’s cheeks. “Never do that to me again. That was so stupid Clarke. I lost you. I can’t lose you.”
“You think that was fun for me?” Clarke smiles, using humor to lighten the situation as much as possible. “Although, your dad is pretty cool.”
“Did you mean it when you said you’d love me forever?” Lexa leans in just a bit, waiting for the other woman’s response.
Clarke smiles and nods slightly. “Did you?” Lexa doesn’t answer, just leans in and claims her lips. The smirk doesn't fade from Clarke’s lips as the kiss ends. “Guess that’s a yes then?”
“That’s a yes.”

Prompt- Abby accidentally finds out about Clarke and Lexa ... she’s not too happy about it
“Clarke, honey, the game got rained out and -” Abby’s sentence trails off as she opens the door to Clarke’s bedroom to find a very naked Clarke and a nearly equally as naked, “Lexa Woods! Are you fucking kidding me Clarke. Put your damn clothes on and come down stairs. Both of you!” She demands, slamming the door behind her. She stomps her way down stairs and past a confused looking Marcus.
“Abby, what’s wrong?” He asks with his brows pinched together.
Abby wrenches open the wine fridge and pulls out a bottle of red, working quickly on the cork. “I just walked in on my daughter and Lexa Woods. I need a drink.” Marcus’ eyebrows shot up toward his hairline, almost comically. Had it been any other situation, she would have laughed at his reaction. “Lexa. Fucking. Woods.” She repeats as she pours the wine into a stemless tumbler.
“Okay, I get that can be a jarring experience, but Clarke is an adult. So is Lexa. What do you have against the poor girl? She’s always been so polite.” He sits across from his wife and looks at her with those soft brown eyes, genuinely curious of her reasoning for such visceral hate for the young woman.
“She’s a Woods, Marcus. The Woods are trouble. My daughter doesn’t need to be involved in any of that.” She bites. There’s venom in her words, and he can see the fire in her eyes.
“Mom.” Clarke interjects and she rounds the corner, Lexa’s hand firmly in hers. “Can we talk about this like rational adults now? Or are you just going to be mean to her. Because if that’s the case, we can both leave.”
She clenches her jaw and takes a large gulp of wine, but to her credit, she nods to the barstools next to Marcus. “Sit.”
“Thank you.” Clarke nods and tugs a shy looking Lexa over. They sit, fingers intertwined, and Abby surveys them. Clarke on the end, then Lexa, then Marcus. They sit in silence for a moment before Clarke gets the courage to speak. “So… I know you’re pissed, because you harbor some sort of unreasonable hatred for Lexa’s family-”
Abby cuts her off. “I don’t hate her family Clarke, I just think they are a bunch of troublemakers that you don’t need to be involved in. Do you know how many stitches and broken bones I have taken care of for the lot of them. All because they deal with their anger by getting into fights.”
“You don’t think Lexa is good enough for me because her family members sometimes need medical attention.” The blonde deadpans.
“No, Clarke, I don’t think a Woods is good enough for you because they are violent and careless, with no regard for other people’s safety.” Abby snaps.
“With all due respect, Dr. Griffin.” Lexa clears her throat. “I don’t think you truly understand my family.”
“Well we can agree to disagree on that.” The doctor takes another swing of wine.
Marcus looks over the two young women next to him then looks back at his wife. “Maybe you should hear her out, Abby.” She looks at him then back to Lexa with a nod for her to continue.
“Well, I know you treated Anya a couple of times a few years back for punching things she shouldn’t. Anya came to live with us from a very abusive household, and when she was doing that, it was more out of self hatred and frustration than it was anger at other people. She had a hard time adjusting, but after some therapy and some martial arts classes she has become a well adjusted adult. Lincoln, I remember he crashed the car drinking and driving. That was about three months into living with us and he was so neglected before, he had a hard time accepting that we loved him. He’s much better now. And Aden, Aden we’re still working on. The poor kid has been through alot in his short life and we’re really trying. I guess what you haven’t seen is the fact that my parents, they take on the tough cases. The kids the system has written of for being a “lost cause.” I was lucky enough to be the first, when I was only four, and I am incredibly proud of my family.”
Abby looks at her in stunned silence. She stares for so long, in fact, that Lexa starts to shift uncomfortably in her seat. “How long have you two been dating?” She finally breaks the silence.
Clarke looks down guiltily at the counter and mutters. “Seven months.”
“Seven months?” She gasps. “Seven. Months. Do you love my daughter, Lexa?”“Very much.” The brunette nods.
“Well then, I think we should all have dinner and get to know each other. I would like to get to know your family the way you do.” Abby offers and it sounds genuine.
“I… I think that’s a great idea.” Lexa looks to Clarke who is smiling and nodding.
Abby smiles softly. “Wonderful. We can hammer out the details later. Can you two give me a moment with my daughter?” Marcus and Lexa both rise from their seats and move out of the room. Not before Lexa plants a kiss on Clarke’s temple though. Once the room is clear Abby moves around the counter and wraps her daughter in a tight embrace. “I’m so sorry Clarke. I am so sorry you felt the need to hide something so important from me.”
“Which part, the relationship or the fact that I’m bi?” Clarke hugs back and both women start to tear up.
“Both. Whatever I have done or said in the past to make you think I wouldn’t accept you just the way you are. I am so so sorry. I love you so much.”
“I love you too, mom.” They stay there, embracing each other for as long as they both can stand it, then they hang on just a moment more.

Clexa prompt: Clarke fussing and worrying over Lexa after a serious injury
“Come on, Eli. Come join Mama.” Lexa patted empty spot on the bed next to her and watched as her son looked around hesitantly. His bright blue eyes looked between the bed and the door as he shifted on his feet.
“But Mommy said I can’t bother you.” He whispered. Lexa frowned and clenched her jaw. It had been a month. A month of prodding and poking and fussing and being woken up to take meds every four hours. But mostly it had been a month of pain and not being able to hold her family like normal, like she wanted. Since the accident it was the only thing she wanted. The only difference being that the last week she had been at home instead of the hospital, but still the same pattern wore on. The four year old spitting image of Clarke didn’t quite comprehend what was going on, just that his Mama was hurt, but she’s getting better. “You know what else Mommy said? She said you have to help me feel better. You know what would make me feel better?” The tiny blonde shook his head, indicating that he didn’t know. “Cuddles make me feel better.”
With that, Eli sprung into action, climbing up the foot of the bed and coming to a stop on his knees next to Lexa. If she wasn’t afraid he’d pout at her, she would laugh at how comically slow he laid himself down and turned his body towards hers, molding himself there for the first time in a month.
She dropped a kiss on the top of his head and sighed contentedly. “Tell me about school. Is that Aden boy still hoarding all of the legos?” This launched Eli into an epic tale of the trials and tribulations of preschool.
Meanwhile, downstairs
“I’m just so exhausted, Anya. I thought it was going to be easier having her home, but it’s not.” Clarke sighed into the camera on the laptop. Skyping Anya, Lexa’s best friend and the one that introduced them all of those years ago, was her only solace in the day so far.
“Clarke, she’s healing. She’ll be better in no time. It’s just a little while longer and everything will be back to normal.” Anya tried, but she could tell her words weren’t making any impact. “I love you three, you know that. If I could be there, I would be. I am sorry you’re doing this alone.”
As if on cue, an alarm for Lexa’s medicine sounded and the blonde dropped her hands into her face and rubbed with a sigh. “Every time one of those goes off I remember how we almost lost her, it’s a nightmare. Gotta go Ahn, duty calls. Love you.”
“Love you too, kiddo.” The screen winked out and Clarke sighed for another long second before she stood from the island bar stool and grabbed the meds from the container on the counter. She filled a glass of water and slowly made her way up the stairs. As she got closer to the master bedroom, the one her and Lexa have shared for the past seven years, she hears excited jabbering coming her son. She stopped, hand on the door knob ear pressed toward the opening and smiled as she heard the story of the two princess who should have never fallen in love, but did. A tale Lexa made up when he was only about a year old, about their love. Now, Eli knew it by heart and told it when he was sleepy. She slowly pushed the door open and was met with the site of wide blue eyes and for the first time in a month, shining green ones.
“Elijah Jacob Griffin-Woods, what are you doing in that bed?” Clarke cocked her head to the side and watched as her son gulped and looked between her and his Mama.
“Mama said she needed cuddles to feel better.” He squeaked and patted the bed next to him. “Come on Mommy!”
“Mama needs to rest and be calm.” Clarke countered, pointing her gaze at her wife.
“Clarke. For god’s sake I need a break.” Lexa finally snapped. “I need a break of the hovering and eggshells and meds and the fuc- the fussing. I just want to hang with Eli. I just want to hold you, but you won’t stop for two seconds and relax enough to let me. I’m not dying! I’m right here.”
“But you almost did!” Clarke all but screamed. “Eli, baby. Please go to your room or down to the living room. Mama and I need to have a talk.” The boy nodded with wide eyes, not use to his mom’s arguing, and slid off the bed. He rushed passed her and out the door, then it click closed behind him. “You almost died and I was terrified. So I am sorry if I hover, if I care. I can’t fucking help it Lex! You should have seen you in that bed on the first night. I have never been more scared of anything in my life.” Tears ran down pale cheeks as she yelled, anger about the situation, fear about it taking over. She didn’t register it as Lexa struggled to stand and move toward her, but eventually she was wrapped in a tight embrace. “You should be in bed.”
“Shut up and let me hold you.” Lexa whispered quietly. They stood there for a long minute, until Clarke felt Lexa sway a bit. “I’m sorry. Okay? I am sorry I scared you. I get that it was traumatic for you as well and I apologize for not taking that into consideration. But I need my wife back, alright? I need you Clarke, not a nurse. You. I need you to cuddle with me at night and I need our son to tell me his preschool woes. I need normal. I’ll call the number they gave us and get a nurse okay? I know I still have more recovery to go, but I need the love of my life and you need a break.”
Clarke nodded breathed out a sigh of relief, then helped Lexa back into the bed, careful of the wound on her stomach and side. “I’ll go get Eli and we can all take a nap, how does that sound?”
“Perfect.” When Lexa woke up an hour and a half later with her two favorite people in the world at her side, she felt better than she had all month.

prompt (clexa) - Lexa convinces Clarke to go canoeing (or some sort of outdoorsy water activity) for a date. Maybe it's early days in dating so Clarke has played down her dislike of water / up-sold her swimming capabilities.
At first I thought this was going to be a silly/fun short, but it turned serious. My bad.
“So basically, you just hold on tight.” Lexa explains as she tugs Clarke’s life jacket into place and tightens the straps slightly. They have known each other through mutuals for about two years, but this is their seventh date. Last time they did a wine and paint night to experience Clarke’s passion. This time they are trying Lexa’s favorite summer activity, lake water sports. First up, inner tubing. “You can try to lean into the waves if you feel confident, but really, we’re just going along for the ride. No big deal.”
“Yeah, right. No big deal.” Clarke swallows harshly as she looks off the back of the boat and out over the water. “What’s the point of this again?”“No point really. We usually just try to see who can hold on the longest. I already told Lincoln to take it easy on us since I am still trying to impress you.” The brunette smirks and it slowly morphs into a passive frown as she watches Clarke wring her hands, obviously nervous. She gently reaches out and tilts the blonde’s face toward her by the chin. “Hey, we don’t have to do this, we can just lay on the beach and play with O and Rae’s new puppy.”
“No! No. I can do this. I can. It’s just new.”
“Okay, well. I’ll be right by your side the whole time. Come on.” It takes a bit of doing but both girls successfully get on the tube and get comfortable. Lincoln gives them a thumbs up and eases the boat up to speed. Soon he kicks up the speed and starts purposely tossing them side to side. They cross over another boat’s wake and the tube takes a nasty spin and throws both women from it. As Lexa resurfaces she first locks her eyes on the boat which is making a wide circle to come back for them, red flag raised in the air to indicate people in the water. Then she whips around, looking for blonde hair and blue eyes, but only finds the life jacket she had slipped on her girlfriend minutes before. She watches it bob with the water for just a split second before she realizes what it means. She swims toward it frantically.
Clarke didn’t know what it felt like to die, but this might just be it. Okay, so maybe she should have told Lexa of her fear of the ocean growing up, which was caused by witnessing a shark attack during a family trip the beach when she was seven. Growing up in San Diego, it was beach or nothing so she kind of didn’t know how to swim. But, hey! That’s what the life jacket was for right? You don’t need to know how to swim, you just let it do it’s job. Okay, so maybe she should have told Lexa that little piece of information too. Too late now. She’s going to spend the rest of eternity with the fishes. When someone does find her body, there will probably be an eel living in her eye socket, like some scary shark movie. She tries to move her limbs, but it feels like they are made of brick. She tries to scream, but that just makes matters worse. Then, she feels it, something around her stomach and suddenly the light of the surface is coming back into view. Her face breaks the surface and she coughs out the water she just inhaled.
“Clarke, oh my gosh! Clarke are you okay?!” Lexa does her best to turn her around so they are face to face. “Did you hit your head? Are you hurt? What happened?”
“Can’t swim.” Clarke coughs out as she wraps her fingers around Lexa’s vest.
“You. You can’t… Clarke why didn’t you tell me.” Lexa whispers into her hair as she holds her close. “I used to teach a swim class during the summer in high school. I could have taught you before we came out here.”
Clarke shrugs in response, teeth chattering and lips trembling. “All I needed was a life vest. Some good that did me.”
They climb back into the boat and Lexa shares a look with Lincoln. He heads back to the beach without a word. Lexa helps her out and they go back to their previously set up towels and blanket. They sit there quietly for a while and Lexa thinks about whether or not this conversation had come up in the two years they had know each other.
“This isn’t your fault Lex. I should have told you.” Clarke finally breaks the silence.
The brunette sighs and scoots to sit behind her date, wrapping her up in a warm embrace. “And I should have checked your vest better. I’m sorry Clarke, I just wanted to have fun with you.”
“Hey! That was fun. I never knew it would be so fun. Just the last part sort of sucked a bit.” Lexa nods into her shoulder and places a small kiss there. “Will you teach me how?”“To swim?” She gets a nod in response. “Sure. Today? Because I could understand if you say no, but there is a little pool over on that other bank and it has a perfect grade that drops into deeper water.”
“Maybe next time.” Clarke stands and offers Lexa her hand to help her up. “Now, where is that puppy?”

Pure
Part 2 of Simplicity at it’s Finest
Six Months Later
Lena stirs in the wee hours of the morning, faintly aware that Kara has finally slipped into bed. She instinctually turns over and burrows into her girlfriend, tucking her head under Supergirl’s chin. Kara sighs contentedly and holds Lena close, pressing her lips against the crown of Lena’s head then nuzzling down until her nose is buried in black hair. She wants to sleep, she is exhausted, but she can’t. She watches the sun rise while the CEO clings to her in her peaceful slumber. She chances a glance at the bedside clock behind a stirring Lena. 7:45am, she sighs until a soft kiss is pressed to her neck and she smiles lightly. Then comes another and another, until Lena is nipping at her jaw, then pressing their lips together.
“Morning love.”
Kara looks down at her with a smile and runs her fingers through the dark tresses before bringing their lips together again. “Morning.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing really. Just a rough night. I don’t want to bum you out first thing in the morning, so we can talk about it later.”
Lena’s small frown slowly morphs into a smirk then she sits up on her knees and toys with the bottom hem of her shirt, biting her lip. “Want me to take your mind off it, Supergirl ?”
Kara gulps hard and nods twice. This is what her very sexy girlfriend reduces her to. A puddle of gay who cannot form words other than ‘yes,’ ‘please,’ and the ever popular ‘Lena.’ The CEO wastes no time straddling the reporter and slowly taking her own shirt over her head, making sure to watch her girlfriend's reaction to the scene in front of her.
Two hours later, a slightly rejuvenated Kara is placing soft lips to the spine in between the shoulder blades of the woman in front of her. She hears Lena’s breathing change and smiles into her skin. Lena doesn’t move to roll over or change position at all really. “Ready to talk about it now?”
Kara moves forward, pressing her front to the CEO’s back. She drops her arm over Lena’s waist and moves her lips to bare shoulder. “The arsonist that has been terrorizing the east side struck again last night, twice. I couldn’t be in two places at once and... a woman died.”
“Love, you can’t save everyone.” Lena threads their fingers together over her bare stomach.
Kara sighs and kisses her shoulder again. “I know. It still bothers me.”
“I know it does and I love how much you care for the people of this city.” Lena rolls over then and presses her lips to Kara’s. “Come on, let’s shower then we’re ordering chinese and watching movies all day. Turn every other electronic off.”
Halfway through the first film, The Goonies (Lena’s guilty pleasure movie), Kara is asleep with her head in the brunette’s lap. The CEO runs her fingers continually through blonde hair, only stopping to pull the throw blanket from the back of the couch over her girlfriend. She hears the elevator ding and frowns down at Kara’s sleeping face, gently lifting the Super’s head and placing it back down on a pillow as the inevitable knock on the door reverberates through the apartment. Lena moves swiftly and quietly opens the door to find an upset looking Alex. She steps out and closes the door, hoping to salvage the nap for Kara. “Hey.”
“Hey Lena. Is my sister here, I already tried her place and her phone?”
She looks at the door then back at Alex before responding. “She’s asleep on the couch. Do you need her or Supergirl?”
Alex looks to the door then to Lena and nods. “I just wanted to make sure she was okay. I know how hard it is for her when she can’t save everyone. Clearly she is in the most capable hands already.” Alex half smirks, concern for her sister still evident along with the gratitude she holds toward Lena.
“She’ll be alright. I’ll have her call you after nap?” Lena offers.
“That’d be great. We could all go to dinner tomorrow. You two, Maggie and I?”
“I’ll check with her and her schedule, but I don’t see why we wouldn’t be able to.”
Kara is sitting up, cross-legged, on the couch when Lena re-enters the apartment.
“I’m glad you and Alex get along now.”
Lena hums and takes up her previous position on the couch. “Me too. If I hadn’t won her over in the six months we’ve been dating plus the two years we've been friends then I don’t know if I ever could.”
Kara chuckles lightly then looks at her girlfriends positioning. She gets up and lifts Lena’s legs so they are on the couch, then kneels at end by her ankles and gently pushes them apart to make room for herself. The CEO cocks her head to the side, but doesn’t question what Kara is doing out loud. Then Kara settles in, chin on Lena’s sternum and arms wrapped around her waist and Lena finally gets it. Kara is often the one who holds her, who uses the closeness to show Lena she is still there because Lena Luthor has abandonment issues. Something obviously stemming from her childhood and upbringing. So once in awhile, when Kara needs to be held, but she is too proud to ask for it, she gently forces the issue.
“I love you.” Lena whispers as her Super nuzzles into the inside of her left breast.
“Love you too.” Kara reaches for the remote and clicks play, resuming the movie from where they left off.
The next week
Kara’s breath hitches in her throat when she catches a glimpse of Lena in her gown for the first time tonight. She’s in an emerald green scoop neck A-line dress and it takes several seconds before Kara can hear anything over the sound of her own heartbeat pounding through her ears.
“The suit looks amazing, Love.” Lena compliments as she puts on her earring. “What?”
“You… you look... you are…” Kara sputters.
Lena approaches quickly and cups her floundering girlfriend's jaw with one hand while she slowly runs her finger up the suspenders under Kara’s suit jacket. “Sorry, what was that?”
“You look stunning. You're so beautiful, babe.” Kara breathes deep then leans forward to capture the perfect lips of her lover. “I don't tell you that enough, do I?”
“You literally tell me all the time.” Lena laughs heartily. “You're a wonderful girlfriend and you never give yourself enough credit. I do love this suit on you.”
“It is easier to hide the super suit with this than the dress, you were right.”
“I was right about how hot you would look too.” Kara blushes at the compliment and Lena kisses her cheek. “Come on, let's get downstairs. We need to make the children some money.”
The elevator to the lobby of the expensive hotel that this fundraiser is being held in reaches it’s destination and the couple walks out with their arms linked.
“Miss Luthor. Thank you for joining us.” An over eager assistant to someone with actual influence and control of the evening’s events greets them. “I’ve been told you would like to say a few words, if you follow me, we can get that over with right now.”
“Yes, thank you.” Lena answers and they follow the young man over to the side of the stage and up to the podium. In the last six months, Kara has become intimately aware of how much power and influence Lena wields with her words. She is also acutely aware that the press absolutely loves how much reverence she looks at her girlfriend with while she’s giving a speech. One online tabloid called her “Kara ‘heart-eyed puppy’ Danvers.” To which Kara responded was an awful nickname and far too many syllables. The content doesn’t really bother her because it is true. She loves Lena Luthor and she gives zero shits about the fact that she gives her heart-eyes.
Lena leans into the microphone and clears her throat lightly to check the volume. “Hello everyone. Thank you all for joining those of us from LCorp tonight in honor of the National City Children’s Home. As some of you know, this charity holds a special place near and dear to my heart. It provides a safe and loving environment for children who have had the misfortune of losing their families. Having a family is something an orphan dreams of, trust me. The people who work at the NCCH are a family all of their own and it shines through to the very special children in their care. So let’s all raise a glass and then open our checkbooks to advance along the future of this great city.” The crowd applauds respectfully and everyone tips their glasses. She and Kara make their way down to the sponsor table and take their seats. Cameras, as they usually are at these events, are endlessly snapping. They catch the couple in a variety of poses, Kara with her head tossed back in laughter. Snap. Lena smiling from ear to ear as she brings champagne to her lips. Snap. Kara with her nose tucked into the hair just above Lena’s ear while she whispers something obviously hilarious. Snap. It took a few events for Kara to get used to this, but now it’s normal. As awful as that sounds.
The night goes off without a hitch, something that Lena is grateful for. As they ride home in the town car, fingers tangled together, Kara’s face morphs into a look of confusion and uncertainty.
“What is it, Love?”
The blonde shakes her head, trying to rid herself of the feeling. “I, uh. I don’t know. Something just doesn’t seem… right? I guess.”
Lena raises an eyebrow then leans forward to peck Kara’s cheek. “I’m sure everything is fine.” They arrive back at Kara’s a few moments later and unhurriedly make their way up to the apartment. When they round the corner in the hallway, they spot a figure sitting in front of her door. Supergirl mode is activated and Kara steps in front of Lena, shielding her from any possible harm. As they get closer, she recognizes the figure. She doesn’t believe her eyes, but she definitely recognizes the person.
“Mon-El?”
The man looks up at her and quickly scrambles to his feet. “Kara!”
“What… How… Why…?”
“Oh, Kara. I missed you so much.” He moves to hug her and she puts her hand out to stop him.
“I’ll give you two a moment.” Lena offers as she steps toward the door with her copy of the apartment key in hand. “Popcorn?”
“Yeah. I’ll be right in. Thank you.” Kara watches her slip inside in all of her graceful elegance. Her gaze lingers for a moment and she turns back to Mon-El.
“You love her.” He says simply. No hate or bitterness. No disdain or betrayal. It’s just a revelation, one he probably thought he would have to make after being gone for more than two years with the assumption he could never come back. “You’re in love with her.”
“I do and I am. Mon-El, look, I really want to hear about the last two years for you, but I am going to need to do that tomorrow at the DEO. I have plans with my girlfriend tonight.”
He nods. “Of course.”
“I am glad you are back.”
“Me too. See you tomorrow, Kara Zor-El.” Mike walks away and Kara slips inside her apartment, pulling at the tie on her suit as she closes the door. Lena is standing in the kitchen with her hand on the microwave like the trained microwave bomb technician that she is.
Kara frowns at the shirt and sweats Lena is wearing. “You already changed.”
“I did. Was I not supposed to?”
“I wanted to help you out of your dress.” The Super waggles her eyebrows and the CEO laughs.
“I’m sure the opportunity will arise again in the near future. Or, better yet, you could be content with helping me out of these clothes.”
The next day at the DEO is decidedly awkward for everyone. James avoids the whole thing by calling a Catco departmental meeting and conference call with Cat Grant. Winn refuses to leave his computer siting a project from Alex. Alex takes a call from Maggie who “needs her help on a case.” She asks J’onn to come along too. So that leaves Kara and Mon-El with no buffers. They are sitting in the training room for almost an hour before he speaks.
“So how long have you two…?” He trails off.
“Six months.”
He hums. Possibly he thinks that isn’t a long time. Maybe he thinks that just long enough to be completely serious. “How did you, ya know, come to the conclusion you two should date?”
“She almost died.” Kara shakes her head. “I watched her almost die. I realized while she was in recovery, that I had loved you. I had, part of me always will. But I was ‘in love’ with her. There is a difference. A real, almost tangible difference.”
“Really?” Mike frowns as he looks at his feet. “What’s it like?”
“It’s… it’s amazing.” Kara stands and shrugs, letting her arms fall to her sides. “She’s my best friend and I tell her everything. I mean everything. There is no fear that she is going to judge me or I’m going to say something embarrassing. I genuinely want to spend every moment I can with her. I have even taken a step back with the whole Supergirl role. I help with the major stuff, the alien stuff, but I leave the small crime to the police. Maggie helped me see that was okay, that it’s their jobs.” She turns to face the door, sighing once again.
“That’s good. You deserve the break.”
“But it’s not even about me.” She whips around to face him again. “I made that choice so Lena and I could spend more time together and there hasn’t been a single moment that I regret it.”
“Sounds a little one sided, what has she sacrificed for you?”
The hero narrows her eyes and crosses her arms over her chest. “She has pulled out of several charity boards and rarely spends time in R&D which is the one aspect of her jobs that she actually truly enjoys.”
“You two sound like a match made in heaven.” He grits, obviously not as okay with the events that took place in his absence as Kara had hoped he would be.
“Bitterness doesn’t suit you.” She scoffs. “What did you expect? That you would come back and I would be crying in a tub of haagen daaz, staring at a photo of you, rambling about how I could never move on from my boyfriend of a couple of months? How my world was just over and I was doomed to be loveless for eternity?”
“Well… No…” He sputters. “But I thought maybe we could get back together or something. I didn’t expect you to be committed.”
“Well I am, and nothing is going to change that.” She turns on her heels and marches out of the training room. Alex and J’onn happen to be approaching the command center at the same time she is. “I’m headed to work, he’s one hundred percent your problem, and no. I won’t need his help should an emergency arise. Maybe ask James if Guardian needs a sidekick or something.”
“Did you find out how he came back?” Alex asks as her sister brushes past the group.
“I didn’t and you know what? I don’t actually care. Feel free to go… nerd.” She waves her hand back toward where she left Mike, but she never stops her feet from moving toward the door.
“Can you believe that? He actually had the nerve to ask me if I was the only one sacrificing things for our relationship.” She complains through bites of pot sticker as she sits on the desk in the R&D department at LCorp.
Lena hums commensurately and fiddles with her microscope. She leans over and Kara feeds her a bite from her chopsticks. She chews the mouthful and goes back to the microscope for a moment more before looking back to her girlfriend. “Some people don’t know how a good relationship with healthy communication works.”
“True. So what are you working on over there my little genius?”
The CEO smiles and pecks her girlfriend on the lips. “Wireless renewable energy.”
“Um… Please do not explain that because the weird things I am coming up with in my head are so incredibly cool.”
Two Weeks Later
“A wedding for who?”
“One of the department heads, Stephen Root. He’s a really nice guy and he actually came to my office and explained to me why he was inviting me.” Lena shrugged. “It’s not because he felt obligated or something, but because I said something one time that inspired him to volunteer more, which his where he met her. So basically he sees me as the reason they are together.”
“Well isn’t that just the sweetest.” Kara leans back against the couch and kicks her feet up on the coffee table. There is a long, comfortable silence as Lena flips through the channels looking for something to watch as they cuddle. A typical Thursday night for the two of them. “So… Alex and Maggie are thinking about adopting.”
Lena looks over at her with a grin. “I know. Maggie and I had lunch today. I was told to wait until Alex told you to say anything.”
“Really?” Lena nods and smiles. “I am excited for them.”
“Me too.”
“Would you… Maybe… Not now obviously, but in the future, possibly…”
“Want to do that too?” Lena finishes the question for her stuttering and unsure girlfriend.
Kara breathes out a sigh of relief. “Yeah. That.”
“Three or four years ago, my answer would be a hard no. You know how it was for me growing up like I did. I would never wish that on another child.” She leans over and settles into the Super’s strong embrace. “Now though, I’m not so against it.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, really. Especially if I imagine raising a kid with you. Growing up a Danvers was pretty good right? So a kid would have at least a 50/50 shot between the two of us.”
Kara kisses the top of Lena’s head and takes a moment to form her thoughts. “You are amazing, Lena Luthor. The things you have gone through in your life are what have helped mold you into such a strong and capable leader. How the Luthor’s raised you, how they treated you, that only shows how incredible you are to have turned out the way you did. Any child in your future, with me or even someone else, is going to be lucky to have you as their mom.” There is a long moment when neither of them speak and it becomes evident as to why when Lena sniffles slightly.
“I really do love you, you know.”
Kara smiles and kisses the top of her head again. “Yeah, I love you too.”
Three Weeks Later
“Jess, can you come in here please?” Lena speaks into the receiver on her desk then looks at her door. She knows Jess does not answer her call verbally, she just gets up and comes in. It takes eight seconds, Kara timed it once or twice. The door swings open and Jess appears, quickly making her way to the CEO’s desk.
“Yes, Miss Luthor.”
“Were you able to clear my schedule for this evening, like I asked?” Lena raises an eyebrow and sits back a bit in her chair.
“I was. Although, the Toyko call is now Friday at five am Monday morning.” The assistant wrinkles her own nose in disgust. “Sorry.”
Lena rolls her eyes but nods along anyway. “Mr. Nakamoto is going to be the death of me.”
“Yes, probably, but the company will prosper evermore.” Jess chuckles. “Okay. Now go. Get your girl. See you tomorrow at Stephen’s wedding?”
“You will. Leave soon, please Jess.” Lena gathers her belongings and makes for the door of the phone in hand, typing away a message.
“Kara, look. It’s your birthday, and we are going to have fun, damn it!” Alex orders around of drinks from the alien bar for the table then turns back quickly. “It’s time you loosen up.”
“I am plenty loose. Thank you very much.” Winn mutters a classic ‘that’s what she said’ under his breath and receives slap to the back of the head from Maggie. James chuckles at that as Kara blushes. “You know what I mean. I have fun.”
“Yes, you have fun. I am not saying you don’t have fun, I’m just saying the past few weeks have been extremely tense at the DEO and we all deserve to have a little fun together.”
“It’s also 2pm and I was unaware day drinking was something all of us adults decided was acceptable.”
“Say what you really mean, little Danvers.” Maggie chides. “You don’t want to have fun without Lena.”
“Well, it’s a good thing I’m here then, isn’t it.” Lena abruptly makes her presence known, dropping her purse in the seat next to Kara and leaning over to kiss her cheek. “Happy birthday, Love.”
“Lena! What are you doing here? It’s the middle of the afternoon.”
Lena smirks then kisses her lips this time. “Eh. You might be worth cancelling some meetings over.”
The group carries on drinking alien liquor through the night (tame, human things for the Earthlings.) By the time Lena is steering Kara to the penthouse loft she owns, its nearly three in the morning and they are both pretty intoxicated. The CEO fairing better of the two.
“Babe.” Kara lackadaisically calls from the side of the elevator that she’s leaning on. “I want to see you naked. Can I see you naked?”
“Kara, Love, of course you can. We just need to get inside the apartment first.”
“Ugh. Fine.” She pouts.
“What was that?”
Kara waves her hands around gesturing to everything and nothing at the same time. “I just think it’s absurd that I have to wait until I am indoors to see my girlfriend naked. Everyone WANTS to see you naked Lena. You’re fucking hot. No one out there would be like ‘oh no! Supergirl! Save us. Lena Luthor is streaking!’ It wouldn’t happen. In fact, you’d probably get a medal for creating world peace or something.” Lena is laughing, out right laughing at Kara’s speech, and during it has managed to steer her inside the penthouse.
“I’m glad you think so highly of my body.”
“AND you’re big beautiful sexy brain too. Complete package, you are.”
“Okay, no more Roltikkon rum for you.”
The Next Day
Stephen and Jemma’s wedding is a mid budget affair. They spared no expense on things like food and alcohol, but it is a small affair. There are approximately one hundred guests and everyone is very laid back. The men are in button downs and slacks and the women are in light summer dresses. Both Lena and Kara were very glad the CEO texted the groom and asked for a clarification on attire.
“Champagne or cider ma’am?” A waiter with a bright, easy smile offers a bottle leaned against his forearm.
“Two champagnes please.” Kara points to both hers and Lena’s glasses on the table. Her girlfriend was stopped a moment before by another LCorp employee, presumably to talk about work.
“Of course.” The waiter nods, fills the glasses, then moves on. The DJ announces food to be served and everyone takes their places at the assigned tables. Lena joins Kara and they eat and chat with their tablemates, Stephen’s grandparents it turns out. They are fun and endearing and offer great relationship advice. Lena is in love and Kara loves watching her fall. A short time later, toasts are being made. They are mediocre at best and Kara is disappointed, they are her favorite part. Next is the first dance and the couple dances to an instrumental of “When a Man Loves a Woman.” The couple shares a grimace. But the Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dances are cute and sweet and it almost completely compensates. The couples are all invited to the floor next and 'Love Me Tender' plays softly for them to sway to.
Lena lazily  drapes her arms over Kara’s shoulders and grasps her own wrist. “Ah, a saving grace. I like swaying with you.”
The blonde hums and pulls her a bit closer. “What would you choose for a first dance song? I mean, theirs was atrocious, but there are good non-cliched ones.”
“Hmm… I’m not sure. What would you choose?”
Kara smirks and leans close. She presses a kiss into Lena’s neck and whispers as the music stops briefly for the DJ to ask everyone else to join them on the floor. “Come fly with me.”
“Perfect.” Lena chuckles.

Simple
A little SuperCorp one-shot, because I love these characters and they are meant to be together.
When she is nervous, Kara Danvers paces. In high school, Eliza had threatened to take the money out of her college fund to fix the wear pattern in the living room floor. The hallway outside the medbay at the DEO is her current path of destruction, and J’onn may threaten to take it out of her pay, but she could care less about that right now. Her eyes are cast down at her feet as she makes her way up the hall, then she turns and eyes the door to the room filled with medical personnel. Her gaze lingers there for a few moments as her breathing slows and her shoulders slump, then her feet move again. She repeats the pattern at the other end of the hall. Up and back, over and over. Maggie, Winn and James watch wordlessly from one end and J’onn is nowhere in sight. It takes two and a half hours for Alex to emerge from the room, stopping just outside and locking eyes with her sister. She gives a quick nod and Kara lets out a deep breath, like she had been holding it for the whole duration. Alex says something to one of the nurses leaving the room then approaches her sister quickly and puts a hand on her shoulder.
“I’m not going to sugar coat it, she was touch and go there for a bit, the bullet hit her spleen and they had a hard time getting the bleeding to stop. She’s sedated and she’ll be out for a while so you can go -”
“No. I’m not leaving.” Kara shakes her head and crosses her arms over her chest. “Not happening.”
Alex sighs and drops the hand from Kara’s shoulder. “I thought you might say that. I asked Agent Sinclair to bring you a better chair. You maybe want to change?”
“She already knows. She called me Kara as I was flying her in here.” Kara shakes her head dismissively.
“She was in shock then, she might not even remember -”
Kara holds up her hand to stop her sister. “I want her to know. I trust her. You may still not, but it’s not your life. It’s mine. Besides, this is probably somehow about me anyways, so she deserves to know who is responsible for her being hurt.”
“You’re not responsible for this. The Luthor’s have a lot of enemies. We don’t know what happened or who did this yet.” Alex tries to reason, Maggie strides up then, seeing her girlfriend's eyes widen when Kara blames herself.
“I’m going to head over to L-Corp and see if I can find out what they have so far. You want to join me at my crime scene, Danvers?”
“If Kara is right, and this is alien connected, that’s my crime scene.” Alex responds flatly. “You going to be okay?”
“Yeah, when she wakes up, I’ll be great.”
Alex sighs and shakes her head again. “Okay, we’re going to see what we can find.”
Four hours later, Kara is seated next to Lena’s bed. There has been a steady stream of people coming in to check on the CEO and a nearly equal number of people to check on Kara. J’onn just left after relaying the information Alex and Maggie found. How they caught the hired thug, how Lillian was responsible. How, Kara was partially correct because the whole thing was over kryptonite.
The Super reaches out and slips her hand into the limp one on the bed in front of her. She brushes her thumb over the back of Lena’s hand and relishes in the softness. Over the past two and a half years, Lena Luthor has become her best friend. They’ve discussed anything and everything imaginable. When Mon-El left Earth, Lena was there for Kara. She helped her see that just because she lost someone she was in love with it didn’t mean her world was ending. Slowly, with the help and unconditional support from the green eyed CEO, she healed from the heartbreak. As she stares at Lena in the hospital bed, she realizes how much more pain she is in now than she ever was then.
“You, Lena Luthor, are the best thing in my life.” Kara whispers. “When I was walking toward your office earlier and I heard that gunshot, I was so scared. Then I ran in and you were bleeding, at it felt like I had kryptonite shot through my veins then I was hit by a bus. Never in my life have I been so afraid to lose someone. Not even when Krypton was crumbling around me. I may have watched my planet die, but tonight… tonight, I thought I was losing my whole world. I don’t know what I would have done if you had died.” The blonde let out a shaky breath before standing and leaning over the bed to place her lips on Lena’s forehead.
Kara falls asleep in the chair next to Lena’s bed with their hands still entwined and her forehead pressed to them. The next thing she registers is finger carding though her hair softly. She slowly looks up and is met by pain addled emerald eyes.
“Hi.” Kara hesitantly offers as she sits up. “Do you need anything? Water? A doctor?”
Lena shakes her head and licks her dry lips. “How bad?”
“They had to remove your spleen. They got the guy though.”
Lena’s chest heaves from a heavy breath. “My mother?” She watches as Kara slowly nods. “He wanted kryptonite.”
“What made him think you have it?”
Lena swallows roughly and looks away sheepishly. “Because I do. Well I did. I’ve been buying all the real and synthetic kryptonite I can find.” Kara straightens her posture, back going rigid with sudden hurt. Lena knew who she was, if her shocked state of slipping up and calling Supergirl Kara was anything to go by, so why in the world would she be buying kryptonite? “Don’t do that.”
Kara’s jaw flexes as she clenches her teeth. “Do what?” She bites.
“Look at me like I’m my brother or my mother. Like I am the enemy.” Lena tries briefly to sit, but fails due to the pain. She lays back down flat before looking at Kara again, who seems to have relaxed a little with those words. “I bought it, then destroyed it. You and Superman, you do good. We need good in this world, and I don’t want that to end.”
Kara eyes her for a moment then blinks unreasonably slowly. “I’m sorry.”
“I know.” Lena nods. “Can you please hand me my water, then go get the doctor. I’d like to speak with them, then be alone for a while.”
Kara mouth hangs open for a moment before she nods then does as Lena has asked. As she pulls the door open, she turns to the CEO again and swallows hard before she speaks. “I am really sorry. For so many things.”
“I know. I just need some time.”
It’s not until J’onn goes in the room later that day that the current Super/Luthor problem is addressed.
“Miss Luthor, I’m glad to see you recovering well.” He steps into the room and stops at the foot of her bed.
“Director Henshaw. Thank you for your hospitality and medical care.” Lena responds. “But I would like to go home.”
J’onn crosses his arms across his chest and raises an eyebrow. “You just had an invasive medical procedure, ma’am. I would highly highly advise against that.”
“No offense sir, but I think if my best friend slash Supergirl can’t even trust me, I have no business being taken care of by the DEO.”
“Ah.” He looks back at the door. “So that’s why I have a Kryptonian door stop in the hallway. You two are fighting?” “What do you mean?”
“She’s been sitting out there across from your door for oh… Six hours now.” He looks at his watch. “She’s been, brooding I think is the correct term.”
“Yeah, well she can keep brooding for a while longer.”
Lena won’t see her until tomorrow afternoon, according to J’onn. So Kara reluctantly heads home. She showers, but she can’t bring herself to eat or sleep. She stares that the ceiling as she lays on the couch, and before she knows it’s happening, tears are flowing down her cheeks.
She barges into Lena’s room early in the morning. “It’s not your name, I know you think it is, but it’s not. Until yesterday, there were 5 people I trusted to have my back no matter what when it came to me being Supergirl. Alex, J’onn, Kal, Winn and James.” Kara hurriedly explains as she’s met with fiery green eyes and a set jaw. “I trust you with my life Lena. As Kara Danvers and now as Supergirl. I’m sorry that for that single moment I second guessed that.”
Lena looks at her for a long few seconds before sighing heavily then relenting. “I know you do. I trust you too.”
Three days later, J’onn and Alex agree to let Lena leave the DEO care if she has a protective detail and she stays at a safe house. She had been treated with an advanced procedure to speed up healing time, but she still had about a full week of recovery ahead of her. Lena furiously disagrees with their stipulations until they come to a compromise. Lena will stay with Kara in her apartment until they follow up on leads about possible other thugs hired to get the kryptonite that no longer exists.
“Are you comfortable? Need more pillows? Water? Anything?”
Lena laughs lightly. “Kara! I’m fine. I mean, I am a little upset that you failed to mention your new apartment is a one bedroom and you were going to make me take your bed.”
“If I told you that, you wouldn’t have said yes.” Kara mumbled and Lena hummed in agreement. “Just get some sleep okay?”
“Thank you. I really do appreciate this.”
“Of course. I love you.” Kara blushes lightly, not meaning for those words to come out quite like that. “You’re my best friend.”
Lena looks at her for a moment and smiles. “I love you too, Kara.”
At one thirty in the morning, Kara wakes with a start on the couch. Her super hearing picked up a slight whimper from her bedroom and she rushes to investigate the problem. As she pushes the door open, she sees that Lena is still sleeping, although it seems to be a fitful sleep. Then, as she approaches the bed, the raven haired CEO sits abruptly and screams.
“Hey. Hey, Lena. You’re okay.” Kara sits on the side of her bed and pulls her friend into her arms. The terrified woman grips the back of the shirt the hero is wearing with both hands then buries her face in the crook of her neck. The blonde begins rubbing circles in her back while whispering reassuringly. “You’re okay. Shhhh…”
It takes more than a few moments before Lena can compose herself. When she does begin speaking, she doesn’t pull from Kara’s embrace. “Sorry. I had a nightmare.”
“You don’t have to apologize. I understand. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“I am now. Thank you.” Neither one of them pull back, and Kara’s hand hasn’t stopped it’s circular pattern. “Do you… Never mind.”
“What?”
“It’s silly.” Lena pulls back and runs her fingers through her hair.
Kara cocks her head to the side and regards her friend for a moment. “Let me be the judge of that?”
Lena looks between Kara and the pillow next to where she was just sleeping. “Will you… maybe... just stay in here with me.”
“Oh.” Kara is glad for the moment it’s dark in the room because she is very obviously blushing. “Yes. I mean… Yeah, of course.”
“It is your bed after all.”
“True.” Kara slides in and shimmies in place until she is comfortable. Then she holds her arms out for Lena to cuddle back into her. The CEO tucks her head under the Super’s chin and is immediately wrapped in a tight embrace. “Comfy?”
“Yeah. Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank me Lena. I know if the roles were reversed, you’d do the same. Well, probably even more for me.” She feels Lena nod slowly into her chest as her eyes start to drift shut. The next words from her friend wake her up and leave her questioning things.
“I’d do anything for you, love.”
When Lena’s eyes open for the first time the next morning, she is met by the sight of a sleepy Kara Danvers watching over her from her spot next to the Luthor on the bed. The blonde smiles brightly when she sees those emerald eyes of her best friend.
“Hi.”
Lena smiles and adjusts herself so she is laying on her side, face inches away from the other woman. “Hey.”
“Feeling okay?”
“Mmhmm. Sore, but not unbearable. Your bed is very nice.”
Kara chuckles. “Yeah. I like it too.” She lifts her hand to tuck a wild lock of hair behind Lena’s ear and brushes her thumb across the alabaster skin over her cheekbone.
Lena’s breath catches and she looks to her friend with surprise. After a moment, when Kara starts to pull back, she frowns. It takes a moment more for her to find her words. “Ask me again… Ask me about the kryptonite.”
“Lena….” Kara shakes her head dismissively.
“Ask me.”
Kara sighs loudly. “Okay. Why were you buying all the kryptonite?”
“Because I can’t stand the thought of some out there being able to hurt you. Because everyone I love dies or goes insane, and I can’t let one of them take you from me. Because I am selfish and I need you.” She leans forward into Kara’s space, lips inches from the other woman’s own. “Because I’m in love with you.”
To the older woman’s surprise, it’s the hero that closes the distance between them. It’s instantaneous, not a single hesitation. She had imagined once or twice or a hundred times, what it would be like when she finally got to kiss Kara, and her assumptions were not incorrect. Her lips are soft and the kiss is slow but it’s not nearly as timid or shy as she had previously assumed it would be. In fact, it’s almost like they were on the same page this whole time and Kara was just as eager as she was. The blonde gently slips her hand over Lena’s hip bone under the blanket and pulls her a tiny bit close, never once pulling back. The raven haired beauty smiles into the kiss the pulls back slightly as her phone begins to ring on the bedside table.
“It’s Jess. She can wai-” Lena’s indifferent shrug is cut off by a knock at the front door of the apartment.
“It’s Alex. You answer that, and I’ll be back in a few so we can talk.”
“Okay.” Lena nods and turns over to pick up the phone.
It takes about ten minutes for Kara to come back into the room. When she does, she is boasting a wide smile as she leans on the door frame. “Alex brought us breakfast from that diner on Third. You want to eat it in here or try to move out to the table?”
“Can you just come back over here for a second?” Lena pats the bed next to her and Kara happily bounds over. “I want to kiss you again.”
“Oh I am all for that.” Kara crawls up the bed and over Lena’s body slowly. She stops and hovers just over the CEO, hands on the bed just under Lena’s arms. She leans down slowly and claims the lips below her in a short, sweet kiss. “You’re so beautiful.”
Lena reaches up with both hands and locks her fingers together behind Kara’s neck then pulls her in closer and continues their liplock.
“Here,” Kara holds up her fork to Lena’s lips. “Try this, it’s pork belly.”
Lena smiles and takes the fork between her lips, chewing slowly. “That is good.”
“It’s like a better version of bacon.” The blonde smiles broadly as Lena hums in agreement.
After a moment of comfortable silence, the CEO sighs and places her fork down on the table. “So we need to talk about the kissing.”
Kara nods and follows the other woman’s lead, placing her fork down as well. “I think it’s pretty simple really. I love you, you love me. So we go on dates and kiss and just love each other.”
“That simple, huh?” Lena leans forward with her chin propped on her palm.
Kara stands and leans over the table and pauses just before smirking lips. She only utters two more words before closing the distance. “That simple.”
