I didn't know how to say it before but yesterday I had a dream where Robot and Monster were announced playable for the Alloyed Collective as one character like Jacob and Esau from TBoI with a swap mechanic and different skills for both of them. For a second there I really thought I made a difference in the world…..also my insane mom savagely tore off my arms in the same dream.

Okay so my "Robot and Monster is set on Petrichor V" headcanon after finding out about the illuminati/cyclops imagery on exclusively the organic characters.
Tumblr media
Now you could say this was intended to be a meta/inside joke or something but that's no fun, at least in my eyes. You could also say that this imagery is connected to the Bea Holder/Saint Crispy (both of which are present in the photo) but if it was the former then I don't know why a police officer would be connected to some fashionista and if it's the latter then it wouldn't make sense for not a single robot character to have the eye imagery present on them at all as Saint Crispy literally ended racism between organics and mechanicals.
I honestly think if it was related to a character that they wouldn't have been a cyclops and connected to the lore of the organics in some form or way especially because we barely get to see anything about said organics in the show, with the main focus being mostly on mechanicals, that might have changed with the second season.
And this brings me to "Providence" which despite that not being their real name and just a title that the human survivor who killed them in the first game gave them, that's the best we got currently so I have to go with it. Nonetheless, Petrichor V is a very interesting setting because it's mostly fantasy-based despite both games being centered around a Sci-Fi world with advanced space travel and living machines. But a key detail to keep in mind is how nothing native to the planet was originally on it before Providence's intervention, making sure that said creatures don't go extinct or in the tar's case - he was probably just manipulated into bringing it along onto the planet with the Lemurians.
But also how centuries have passed since said creatures were brought onto the planet with both Providence and the man on the moon who happens to be his brother living through all the centuries as they're immortal. I can see all the organics originally being several species saved by Providence bought onto Petrichor V. With them eventually creating the mechanicals because of Providence's golems roaming around and his cold brother being banished to the planet's moon so there was no one stopping them from going against his wishes of making lifelike machines. False Son and the Lunar Chimera (Golem/Exploder) both prove the golems are mechanical in some form or way despite being made out of stone and other similar materials.
Along with how The Brass Contraptions and the Alpha/Xi Constructs never are stated to have been created by Providence or his brother from my knowledge so that would mean possibly other intelligent life on the planet created them and with False Son's backstory in mind, even seemingly tribal creatures like the Lemurians still appreciate the protection of non-organic creations. And on that note, the Alloy Vultures were able to tamper with Solus Control Units/Probes right under Providence's non-existent nose and they're also tribalistic which is evident in their retrofitting of said units seen through the Alloy Worship Unit and Empathy Cores. Side note: I like to think Saint Crispy got into a gnarly accident when he was a full organic and Providence saved him, making him into an immortal cyborg, which in return inspired the large octopus-like bull-horned man to bring joy and peace to his people on a larger scale than what he may have been doing day to day. False Son having a close relationship with him and enjoys hearing about the time before he was created, especially when it comes to history and tales regarding his "father" whom he could never meet in person.

I still can't get over how they never explain AT ALL why Cornelius made a time machine, there is no way someone like him would use it to travel into the past especially if that can affect the timeline but what the hell was he doing in the future? And it had to be the far future too after his death not only because he would logically run into himself if he was alive but also why go into the future to help the world if you're there already to do so. But even that has holes in its logic because that would imply he has no faith in his family, employees, fans, or anyone else to pick up the mantle in his absence. He made the only two functional time machines in existence and I like how they make a big deal of the trial and error that took place in their creation which makes sense for the movie's theming but they never got around to explaining why he would make the thing in the first place despite how the movie's plot literally hinges on its existence. This part from one of the games based on the movie fucks me up because again, why does he even have the thing if it can cause so many issues and problems? He worked his ass off for this machine and we have no idea why he would even want to in the first place.
Tumblr media
Also, yes, I learned about the games because of LS Mark's video on the them but he never brings up this line from the game on the [X360, Wii, PS2, GCN] which timeline which reminds me of how every single movie involved with time travel can't just go the timeline approach even if that would solve so many plot holes with their plots. This is just a throwaway line but it could be used to explain away stuff like Mini Doris being the central antagonist in the gameboy game despite Doris being erased from the timeline but there's still tons of other plot holes in the movie and games, like the following examples: "why doesn't the main timeline change with lewis' absence from the science fair?" along with "how is Wilbur still alive at the end of the game on [X360, Wii, PS2, GCN] if it's implied Franny never got with Lewis in the Doris bad end universe?" and "how the fuck did Goob bring a whole ass t-rex into the future?" but I have a somewhat of explanation for two of those examples, but not the t-rex one as that makes deadass no sense whatsoever....Also, why did they keep them in the future? Wouldn't that have screwed up the timeline or something?
Tumblr media
But that segways perfectly into my explanation for this mess which is that the timeline is fracturing and breaking every instance it is tampered with....like Cornelius doesn't really have any character flaws which is so strange to me, you would think at least hubris would be one of them but they never dwell on that idea for some reason. I think building a time machine at all was a dumbass move on his part, Wilbur isn't to blame for things getting out of hand because that machine shouldn't even exist in the first place.
And this leads me to a headcanon of mine......
Tumblr media
Now I know this sounds batshit crazy but just hear me out, Rain World is a game about a universe where all of it's inhabitants are pretty much trapped in the movie "Groundhog's Day" with them dying and waking up soon after the next day or rather "cycle" along with how most of the life on the game's central planet are all bioengineered purposed organisms and the benefactors (aka ancients) seem to have been bioengineered by themselves as well appearing either like avians, squid-like, humanoid, or any other type of creatures although that doesn't mean I think they were ever humans. I merely like to think they picked up the scraps left by humanity and any civilization long after man's grip on the planet had faded, with the benefactors simply moving forward with the legacy left behind before their wake. Also this is somewhat related but I really don't like the name "benefactors" for them and I just randomly heard it in one of Daszombes' videos although I don't know if it's an offical name or what. I think Looks to the Moon called them that before but I can barely remember if that's right or not as I'm no lore master unlike Daszombes himself....he made the image below btw.
Tumblr media
Nontheless, time being so screwed up at a certain point that many temporal anomalies start popping up here and there, along with contradictions in the time stream that simply happen as things are so out of whack because of the irresistible damage that occurred because of the time machine's creation and use. Ironically Cornelius wanting to go into the far future to help any new civilization after humanity was long gone doomed said civilization and despite how many times he tries to go back to the far future to try and help the new civilizations with their predicament of immortality, he simply makes things worse and worse each time he does. Also I like to think Lefty came from the far future as well either near the time that Rain World is set or around that ballpark or even before that. Cornelius bringing him back to the past (or rather his present) because he simply thought that doing such wouldn't effect the timeline as he's from the future after all but he was dead wrong about that. The future no matter what will always be the past for a time of which wll proceed it after all.
Tumblr media
Also this headcanon can also be used to explain why no one can agree if Downpour or the Watcher DLCs are canon to the main game of Rain World or even each other, so odd that happened at all while I'm at it but whatever.

My grandparents owned tons of DVDs back in their old house and they had some ones called "Angel Wars: Guardian Force" and despite being an atheist now, I still really like the series all the same. And this segways into how I thought about the show when playing the Slay the Princess - Pristine Cut because of the chapter 3 "The Princess and the Dragon" as the Satan stand in for Angel Wars goes by the name The Dragon and we never get to see what he looks like. We don't know too much about the world of Slay the Princess outside of one mortal and a god split in half so I like to think that it's set in the Angel Wars universe, The Princess being bulit up to the angels as The Maker's daughter so like a stand-in for Jesus but not a 1to1 situation and said Angels never learning about the truth that the Daystar along with even the maker having never existed, they were always The Wild both before and after being torn in-half. It's interesting how the princess embodies death, meanwhile the dragon is the opposite, that being life despite how their appearances give off the opposite impression.
