PSA FOR DISCORD USERS!

There is yet another scam going around!! Here's what it looks like, and what to do if you fell for it!

it looks like this v

1) They will contact you via the accounts of your friends, and it looks like this. If you see this message, BLOCK THAT FRIElND! THAT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND ANYMORE. It means they already fell for the scam and got their account jacked! You arent talking to your friend, you are talking to the scammer that jacked their account

2)DO NOT ADD OR CHAT WITH THE FAKE SUPPORT PEOPLE! FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT DISCORD SUPPORT RESOLVES ISSUES VIA EMAIL AND BOTS, NOT USERS!!

3) if you did chat with them, they will typically ask you to send personal info! Like screenshots of bank statements and other personal information! Obviously, dont give it to them! You're on the internet, you know not to hand out personal info, especially bank info!!

4) they will also ask you to change your email or password! If you changed your email and lost your account, CONTACT REAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT! tell them that your email was changed to an email that you have no access too, and they can change your email back so you can rescue/salvage the account!

5) REPORT THAT SCAMMER. BLOCK, AND REPORT THE FAKE CUSTOMER SERVICE ACCOUNTS!

Disclaimer: i am a total moron, and this scam DOES trick people. I managed to rescue mine and my friends' accounts, but your friends may not be so lucky!

I've seen the orange poem, where the writer finds it endearing that their dearest cant peel an orange. I remember distinctly being unable to peel oranges as a child. But because no one had the time to peel my oranges, i always got by by using a fork to start it, or another stabby thing.

Now, many years later, i peel oranges for others. My kid sibling, my darling partner, my dad who also never learned.

I feel a dumb and inexplicable adoration for the people in my life who trust me to peel the orange for them, because i could not ask for help because i didnt trust that i would receive it.

This new understanding of my place in other people's lives is weighing on my brain.
