I finally finished the remake of my old game, and gave it a title tweak to help it be found easier since the original got lost under battle summoning tutorials.
If you played the first version it's effectively the same game storywise. Main changes are swapped out tiles, new face sprites, made lights the old-fashioned way, changed the maps entirely, and rewrote it in MZ so that the mouse is usable to play too.
Got the same play time as the original, and there's a browser version to play if you don't feel like downloading it. Though if you want/need the walkthrough you will need to download the manual from the page.

there IS actually a reason why seconds and minutes (and degrees for geometry) are in base 60 instead of base 10, and if you want to blame someone for that, blame the very specific way Babylonians counted with their fingers.

It's been a hot second since I've made an update. The game remake is functionally complete, and far as I know there are no major bugs (most of my playtesters have been busy so no idea if there's anymore). All the game needs for right now is the art for the cgs, and those are about halfway done. Shading is already in progress for all of them, and if I keep at it, they should all be done by this Friday.
No idea if that's when I'll release it since I would still rather nudge my testers to give it a go-to make sure everything runs as it should. Nothing worse than releasing a game only to find a big bug that was missed.

any advice for picking fun and vibrant colour palettes that still feel true/recognizable to an object/setting/character's base colours? something about intense lighting?
I've been asked about how I choose my colors by a lot of people and I finally sat down and made a whole ass youtube video about it!

Concept: cursed blade rehabilitation center. Destroying a sentient weapon is expensive and highly unethical, so adventurers bring them to the center where highly trained staff can care for them and eventually find them forever homes. It turns out most cursed weapons are products of trauma and are not strictly evil themselves. Some blades turn out to be fiercely protective companions. Others don't even want to be weapons at all, finding joy in simple work like blacksmithing or farming. Most blades just need to be loved.
#reblog#swords#magical item rehab#this would make for either a great story#or a little side quest in a main story#i love this so much

So I had already announced it a bit ago on itch, but I'm going to do it here too. I've attempted another remake of my game "Summoning", and have added onto the title, changed the graphics, and done a general overhaul of everything in an attempt to improve upon the first game I ever released.
It's nearly finished, as all I have left to do on it is some polish, along with finishing all the CGs. Redoing the old ones of course, but there will be some new ones as well. I'm honestly really proud of how it's turned out thus far, and I ended up learning a lot from the process that I can carry on into future projects.
It's the middle of the semester though, so it could be another month or three before release.

Hello! Thank you for all of your hard work and the VX Ace interior tiles! I wanted to use some of them in my game and I was curious whether you are okay with them being edited (color change, positioning etc)? If not it's absolutely okay and thank you again for all of your wonderful resources!
Sorry for the long delay!
Go right ahead and recolor them to your heart's content. All I ask is credit for the initial work is all.

It’s here !! The guide for two-legged people who don’t know how to draw wheelchairs !!! 7 pages of infodump ! Disclaimer : I don’t know everything, I have one (1) experience of wheelchair user who used both bad and good chairs, and I share what I learned.
Image description :
1) Calvin in his wheelchair saying “yo” under a huge title “how to draw manual wheelchairs properly by Calvin Arium, a wheelchair user comic artist”.
2) A character says “my character self propels in a chair that was outdated in 1970 lol” Calvin says “so it looks like you two legged people don’t know the difference between an hospital chair and a chair made to be independant” an arrow point the crapppy chair, saying “we never want to see this again”
a bubble says “the hospital chair is extremely unpractical, tough considering it’s cheaper than a good custom chair a lot of us have only this”
3) a character hurt himself trying to reach the wheels of the hospital chair. Several arrows point why the chair is unpractical : “high backrest restrain shoulders movement” “huge armrest restrains wheel access” “separated footrest : amovible, cheap, bulky” “x structure, foldable but heavy” “huge front casters for stability” “heavy wheels”
4) Several arrows point an active wheelchair (the KSL by Küshall) : “usually no armrest” “a low backrest allow more movement” “light, design, ferning expersive” “special cushion to avoind injuries” “knee angle is usually 90°” “one single piece of frame, sometimes entirely welded” “weight : from 4 to 10kg” “often rigid” “center of the wheel is the center of gravity” “higher quality wheels : less spikes”
5) A hand grab different parts of the wheel, pushing harder in the second half. Bubbles says “some have gloves, some don’t. The hand must grab the biggest area possible. Less movement = more energy. This is a common but not only way to push.Calvin is on his back wheels, rolling on grass and dirt bubble says “popping a wheelie is when a wheelchair user rolls on their back wheels to roll on every complicated surface.
6) several drawings illustrate the folding frame, the ergonomic but rigid and expensive backrest, the separated footrest (only for folding frame), the handles, the folding handles, athe amovibles handles, or no handles, the cool fancy loopwheels, the pretty custom colors
7) More Features ! The fancy rigid-foldable frame, the anti tippers (sometimes used by beginners), the motorization (wheels, smart drive) when propelling yourself is difficult Calvin says “and now vroom vroom motherfuckers”

Babysitting Is Murder Update
Finally finished updating the game for the Post Jam version. Among the changes are:
Added a game mode settings (Novice and Adept mode) to have a setting for players unfamiliar with rpg maker games.
Added sparkles to objects for novice mode to make them stand out. One section due to there being no one specific item or way to go, and two items excluded as I felt they were obvious enough to not need them.
Added a couple small animations just to add a little extra detail.
Added a door and rug to address the hall closet not standing out enough.
Updated the backyard with better grass and added lights to the windows and doorway.
Fixed a small bug in the kitchen
Updated the walkthrough in the manual for better clarity

Well my file skipper is buggy
No surprise since it is my first. x.x
Well, I ended up finding a couple bugs in my file skipper plugin when I finally got to using it in my project. If the image file is missing it cannot open the menu to save, and if a system audio file is missing you end up stuck in alert box hell to the point you can't even close out. Gonna have to figure out how to make the errors replace the missing files with empty versions (since rpg maker already has code to create empties so no extra files needed), and maybe make it so the alert won't run repeatedly.

And typical, even though it played fine when I tested it, it's now deciding to just break when someone else tests it.

So I made a small rpg maker mz project with some different events inside for the expressed purpose of letting folks look inside to learn how to do a few things. Sure, there are tutorials, but sometimes having a hands-on aid helps a lot more. Inside it are how to:
-Have items be used manually or automatically from the inventory.
-Have footstep sounds
-Slowing player movement based on terrain
-Push objects and have them stay in their place
-Hiding Mechanics
-Chase Mechanics
-And evented lighting
Note:
Something important to remember is for some of the events, is that they're set up for how I'd use them. You may need to edit them to suit your needs if they aren't a complete 1 to 1.
Please let me know if any mistakes are found.
