👀👀👀 ohoho interesting..... an incident that makes everyone forget him would fuck him up big time I think, because by this point Scourge is comfortable with everyone. He has friends, he has a boyfriend, for once in his life he's... happy. And to have it all taken from him in an instant.... oooo he would not take it well

Maybe at first he thinks it's a prank, because that's exactly the kind of prank Sonic would find funny, but as he interacts with everyone else, he isn't so sure; he doesn't believe Tails alone could put on such a good act for so long, so he starts to get suspicious, maybe panic a little, and that's when the change in behaviour really starts to hit home. Sure the rest of the freedom fighters might be more willing to give him a break, but Sonic has reverted right back to his "No Fucking Lookalikes" policy with no exceptions. Sonic absolutely would not trust this bad boy-wannabe skulking about in their base - meeting him out on the street is one thing, but the base is important, they can't afford to let just anyone wander in - and the distrust would cut Scourge deeper than expected. It was one thing to not be trusted by Sonic when he first arrived, because yeah, he was planning on stirring up trouble then so the suspicion was warranted, but he's over that now, and it's another thing entirely to be accused of being shady when he isn't even doing anything. Like, it's his home, and all of a sudden he's not welcome in his own home. It's going to hurt, and that means it's going to piss him off. It feels like rejection, like betrayal, and Scourge does not take rejection or betrayal well

What also strikes me is if he's in the fleetway zone, Scourge doesn't know about the genesis wave. He has absolutely no clue what has happened, no clue he was supposed to be wiped from existence. So he has no idea what the hell has gone wrong. His first instinct is to blame Robotnik, but Robotnik doesn't know who he is either, and no matter how hard he tries, Scourge can't prove he's lying about not knowing him

Ultimately I feel like his priority shifts to figuring out what happened and how he can reverse it. I imagine the freedom fighters have been moved enough by his insistence that they do know each other, maybe they've even bullied Sonic into giving him a chance, and they've agreed to help him figure out what the hell has happened. But even if they do, he still feels alone. He knows them, but they don't know him. They don't know about his favourite things, Sonic doesn't remember their favourite dates, he's checked Kintobor's records and searched for group photos that include him and everything is gone. Scourge the Hedgehog's entire existence has been wiped clean off the face of the planet, except for Scourge himself. Could you imagine what that would do to even a normal person, let alone someone like Scourge? One million issues he's been ignoring not even noticed yet would flare up, and he's desperately searching for a way to fix it. He wants his home back, and if he couldn't restore everyone's memories... well, it would take him time to heal enough to even begin trying to rebuilding his friendship with the freedom fighters and get Sonic to fall in love with him again. Especially when he still doesn't know how he did it the first time. He wants to run away about it, but how can he run away when he doesn't have anywhere else to go?

Getting Sonic to believe his story that he's been here for years and they've all just forgotten would be the biggest challenge, I think. The rest of the freedom fighters are more inclined to believe the story, but not him. In my head, he only changes his mind when, in the middle of a fight with Scourge - kicked off because Scourge, out of frustration at trying to prove he's telling the truth, brings up Johnny, and Sonic is immediately like "how fucking dare you use my dead friend against me to manipulate me" - Scourge blurts out something no one - not even his friends - knows about. Something Sonic has kept entirely to himself, that he only ever felt comfortable telling Scourge after they grew close

In the heat of the moment, of course, he rejects this train of thought and just argues with Scourge harder, because he's stubborn and hates admitting to being wrong. But after they've both stormed off - and maybe Sonic catches a glimpse of Scourge holding back frustrated tears - and he has a moment to himself, he sits and thinks about what Scourge said and slowly realises maybe, just maybe, Scourge is telling the truth after all

I don't remember exactly where I came across this, but at some point I read that an intended plot was for Johnny to have a crush on Amy, thus making Sonic jealous and forcing him to re-examine his own feelings, and for five glorious seconds I wildly misunderstood and thought it meant Sonic was jealous of Amy for catching Johnny's attention because he had feelings for Johnny. Then reality kicked and I remembered no Sonic comic, especially one published in the 90s, would ever have the balls to do that 😅 but the concept was amusing to me so I immediately adopted it into my headcanon that Sonic had a crush on Johnny but never told him <<<<

For christmas Scourge receives: confusion. Christmas wasn't really a big thing on Moebius, not because it didn't exist, but because all the stuff it's about doesn't really gel well with the worldview over there; what's there to be happy about? Generosity and love? In Moebius? Your christmas present is not getting a knife in the back, how about that

So as a result Scourge isn't entirely sure which christmas traditions are normal and which ones are this new dimension being weird, but even with his lack of experience, there's still plenty of stuff he's pretty sure he's never seen at christmas before. Why are we pulling these small decorations until they crack and break open. Why do they have stupid little gifts and shitty jokes inside. What do you mean the day after christmas is also a holiday, what the fuck is boxing day? Does it mean he has official permission to beat the shit out of people? What do you mean boxing day has nothing to do with boxing? Why the fuck are you setting food on fire-

He is however delighted that he receives presents. At the same time as Sonic, too! And he's absolutely forcing Sonic to wear the silly little paper crowns from the christmas cracker the second he realises Sonic hates wearing them. It takes a lot of struggling, and maybe he has to resort to impaling the back of it on Sonic's quills, but hey, a victory is a victory no matter how long it takes. Even better, now Amy insists on taking a group photo as "a memory of their first christmas together" aka "proof that Sonic failed to avoid wearing the paper crown at least once". Doing mushy friend stuff may make his skin crawl sometimes, but he can tolerate it better when it's for the purpose of irritating Sonic, and thankfully, Amy loves doing "nice" things to irritate Sonic. He's also very interested in hearing the story of the time Sonic insulted Father Christmas to his face then swung him around by his beard

That being said, every single year he says if he has to hear one more carol singer, he just might lose it, and it's down to Sonic to distract him with insults and kisses when more inevitably turn up. Christmas is far from his favourite holiday, bit too jolly and full of yucky goodwill for him, but the freedom fighters and Sonic especially have made him learn to tolerate it

Oh he's sulking. He's sulking big time. By the time they even figure out how to get Scourge out of the fleetway dimension, he's already grown attached to them (although you could never get him to admit it out loud) and he hates leaving. Moebius sucks, everyone there sucks, all of them are bastards and not in the way he's grown accustomed to in the fleetway dimension, and he's suddenly very, very aware of just how unsafe he feels in his home dimension, especially considering nobody likes him there. He could be attacked at any point, and although he tells himself that'll be no big deal, because he's Scourge the Hedgehog and he can handle anything that's thrown his way, deep down it unsettles him to know his friends team aren't around to back him up. It's not that he can't take anyone who tries to attack him, it's that he's grown used to having company who'll have his back, and not having that company makes him feel exposed and watched. He doesn't have any good memories of the place, either, so there's nothing to keep him occupied while he waits. So he's sulking about it, doing his best to kill time and eagerly anticipating the second he can go home

If he's trying his luck with Fleetway Sonic, Scourge is laughing his ass off because he thinks it's the funniest shit in the world when people try to shoot their shot with him. He likes to stand back and watch it happen for a bit, smug in the knowledge Sonic will say no because he's already taken, and then saunter over and drape his arm over Sonic's shoulders and call him babe and kiss him either on the cheek or directly on the lips. Just because he wants to see the look on his "competition's" face (not that he considers them competition, because again, he knows Sonic is going to turn down any advances). He'd do the same to Exe, except he'd be even more smug about it because he knows Sonic hates lookalikes, and some random guy looking exactly like him approaching him to flirt with him is going to piss him off big time, and Scourge is looking forward to the fallout of that

As for flirting with her, well, the freedom fighters would float the idea around, and let me tell you Sonic would Not be pleased with the idea lmao. Ultimately they probably never actually get far enough in the plan to tell Scourge to do it because they realise he's too busy being obnoxiously public about dating Sonic for it to be convincing. He'd definitely have no problems doing it if he was asked, he loves flirting, but considering the Epic Sulking that would come from Sonic, even knowing it's just a ploy... probably for the best it never happens lmao

i imagine that after johnny died the ffs probably visited his grave every once in a while when they got the chance. i imagine it being more of an annual thing since they get so busy. either way, i bet scourge would find out about their old friend sooner or later (probably later)

Oh, agreed. I imagine the freedom fighters don't really talk about Johnny much, at least to people outside of their group. I'm unsure if his death is public knowledge (I believe stco mentioned something about a statue of him, which would suggest it is public knowledge, but I don't really acknowledge stco's events unless I really, really like the idea - see: exit sonic - because I haven't read stco and don't really intend to, so idk if I'd even take the statue thing into consideration) but like, either way, the people who need to know already know. If it's public knowledge, everyone already knows about it. The freedom fighters would have no reason to tell Scourge about Johnny; the thought just never crosses their minds. Why would they tell this random stranger about their dead friend? As Scourge gets closer to the group, they'll be more inclined to tell him, but only if they feel there's a need to. Or maybe he'll overhear some of them talk about Johnny, perhaps even discussing visiting his grave, and be like yo, who the fuck is Johnny? Either way, no matter how it happens, you're right, it would be later rather than sooner. Probably for the best, as Scourge isn't the most... sympathetic guy, and his reaction would be "damn. Bummer" at absolute best. He never knew Johnny, after all, so it probably doesn't really hit him just how much Johnny's death impacted the freedom fighters

I loveeeee the headcanon that they visit his grave annually. I suspect it would be an ordeal to get Sonic to agree to go, at least the first time; even though they've already seen how much of a wreck he was when Johnny died, I like to think he still doesn't want them to see him mourn. He'll go to Johnny's grave on his own, but he probably hates it if people show up during such a private moment. Getting him to agree to go with the rest of the freedom fighters would be... a discussion, to say the least, at least the first time. He will eventually give in and go, though

There is one thing in the multiverse that Scourge dislikes more than Sonic;

Alternate versions of himself (For the most part. He's got, like, five alternate selves that he vibes with at most.)

Usually, when Scourge locks eyes with an interdimensional counterpart of himself specifically, it's like cup Noodles. Instant Beef On Sight. It is on Sight for these two, no questions asked. No words, no banter, no teasing, just a moment's recognition, then they immediately start throwing hands and insults at each other, without even knowing the other's past all that much. This will only stop when one dies, they knock each other out, or the fight gets broken up by someone. Generally speaking, it's best to keep two or more alternate versions of Scourge away from each other so you don't get the slugfest of the century.

Scourge would be pissed to find another him sfhjdfgj considering he seems to be a cosmic anomaly and wildcard, he'd naturally assume there's only one of him. If he found any others? He'd be furious that he isn't the only one, and now all of a sudden he understands Sonic's dislike for lookalikes (or, well, he thinks he does. He's just pissed he isn't the most special boy anymore like he thought, whereas Sonic is more concerned with the fact his lookalikes keep trying to kill him or ruin his reputation. Or both). If another Scourge were to show up in the fleetway dimension, the freedom fighters might try to stop it. Sonic, however, is sitting back and watching Scourge kick ass, and he's only going to step in either to stop Scourge from actually killing anyone (but like. He's doing that at the absolute last minute) or to defend Scourge if he's getting his ass kicked

All the while Sonic tries hard to keep it together for both of their sakes agghhh like it’s not hopeless but it will be a very difficult process to undo. Sonic is trying so hard to keep it together and treat this like any other setback... I bet it hurts even more though bc he knows Robotnik only targeted Scourge to get to him. He's not blaming himself or anything, but it still stings to know this was a personal attack done against him. I didn't get to go into that in the fic tho bc it's Scourge's pov... probably for the best bc he would not be understanding in his current mindset and realising that the attack on him wasn't even about him would... not go down well to say the least

Okay so sending this as a request, what if Scourge gets temporarily cybernik’d (like Shortfuse..?) or roboticized.

It’ll be interesting to see because prior to landing on the Fleetway dimension, he never had to deal with shit like this. For all of his talk about how terrible Moebius was, they never had the kind of enemies Prime Sonic or Fleetway Sonic have. Couldn’t beat his own version of Metal Sonic without help, and would be taken aback with dealing some of Prime Robotnik’s gimmicks. 

He retains his original consciousness (thanks to the power of master emerald bs or whatever) but is either extremely angry/freaking the fuck out because he loses partial physical autonomy, his speed, (if he’s in a cybernik body, its likely claustrophobic for him since he’s a Sonic and he should be moving, not encased in metal even if it shoots cool missiles) and oh Chaos, is this what it’s like for Prime Jules—

and worst of all…he can’t feel Sonic.

Endless wires were hooked into the armor - into him - and yet Scourge couldn't feel any of it.

The world around him felt... disconnected. He hadn't realized just how real his surroundings felt on a daily basis until he was forced to view them through the lens of a screen. None of the colors were vibrant, and every little sound was muffled. He couldn't hear the hum of electricity, or Tekno tapping on the keys of the keyboard at her computer, or the quiet rustle of Tails anxiously wringing his tails with his hands. All sounds he knew were there - sounds he'd heard a million times - but were lost to him trapped inside the armor. Sounds he'd never even thought about or noticed until they were gone.

Sonic was seething and doing a terrible job of hiding it. He was standing next to Tekno, alternating between glancing at Scourge and glaring at the screen littered with numbers and graphs and scans Scourge knew for a fact he didn't understand, arms folded tight against his chest and hands clenching his biceps tight. Even his quills were still bristled; they hadn't relaxed all day, not even when they got back to the base. If Scourge had seen him like this when he first crash landed into this dimension, he would've said Sonic looked irritated, but he knew Sonic better than that by now. The tense set of his jaw that always appeared when he was grinding his teeth said he was seething, and the way his ears kept flicking like they wanted to droop or pin back said he was terrified.

Ordinarily Scourge would make some kind of smart comment. Playfully punch him on the arm and jeer at him about putting his face straight. But he wasn't allowed to get down from the table lest he disrupt the wires and interfere with Tekno's scans. Like he was some kind of machine.

A very, very small part of him whispered that he was, and it wouldn't be silenced no matter how much Scourge tried to shove it down and smother it out of existence.

"It shouldn't be much longer," Tekno said. She was quiet, nothing like her usual self, and she refused to look at him. Scourge preferred it that way. Whenever she looked at him, it was always with a stricken, oddly guilty look, and he hated it. He didn't want to know the reason behind that look, or he'd hate it even more. "It's nearly complete."

"Can you do anything?" Tails said, wringing his tails even harder. Unlike Tekno, he couldn't stop shooting glances at Scourge, and unlike Sonic, he couldn't hide how scared he was.

"I won't know until-"

"'Course we will," Sonic said, cutting Tekno off. He'd spat similar reassurances in the past, and Scourge knew exactly what those words were supposed to sound like by now. Confident and cocky, scoffing at the idea the Freedom Fighters wouldn't get their own way. This time, though, there was too much tension in his voice for the false confidence to be believable.

Tekno's face scrunched in dismay, but she didn't argue; they all knew better than to argue with Sonic when he sounded like that. Amy put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, squeezing it and murmuring something Scourge couldn't hear to her.

He hated how much his senses were dulled. Hated the way everything felt flat through the screen and the way he couldn't twitch and twist his ears to better hear his surroundings. He was wrapped in nigh-indestructible armor but he'd never felt more exposed.

Stupid. He was so stupid. What kind of idiot got captured by Robotnik? That was something that happened to other people. People who weren't as strong or smart or fast as him. He was Scourge the Hedgehog, the guy who conquered a whole planet by himself, a Sonic the Hedgehog at his full potential - no, someone who'd grown beyond Sonic the Hedgehog's potential. He wasn't supposed to be captured like some quivering helpless civilian. He was supposed to be better than this.

But he'd gotten careless. Sloppy. Between him and Sonic, missions rarely went wrong, and this kind of thing didn't happen on Moebius, so he'd forgotten it was a threat to begin with, and he'd gotten complacent. He'd forgotten there was a reason Robotnik had managed to take control of Mobius and hold it for so long.

He didn't know how long he'd been there; it had felt like no time at all and forever. Everything had happened so fast while crawling at a snail's pace. Scourge's struggle for freedom felt like it was over before it had even begun, but being strapped into the armor, listening to Robotnik gloat, and feeling like he was waiting for death no matter how hard he fought...

He would never admit how weak his knees went in relief when he'd heard Sonic's furious shouting.

He didn't know how long he'd been in Robotnik's grip, but it didn't really matter. All that mattered was how long Sonic's arrival had taken. Scourge was sure the Freedom Fighters had told him at some point how long it had taken them to find him, but he hadn't been listening; the only way he needed to measure it was just in time or too late.

He wouldn't know that information until Tekno was done.

Tekno's computer made a ping noise when it was done analysing something. Scourge didn't hear the ping, but everyone's head abruptly snapped up and stared at the screen at the same time, so it must have sounded. He just. Couldn't hear it.

Something bubbled in his throat. He couldn't tell if it was bile or a scream.

"Well?" Sonic demanded.

"It's..." Tekno hesitated. She started to look over her shoulder in Scourge's direction, but stopped herself before he could meet her eyes. "It's not the same as Shortfuse- I mean, Shorty. Robotnik didn't get very far in the process, so the armor isn't fully connected yet."

"So we can reverse it?" Amy asked.

Tekno ran her finger over the keyboard. "... Maybe. I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know? We got Shorty out of his cybernik armor. If it's not fully connected to Scourge, it should be easy to bust him out."

"It's not that simple," Tekno said, hunching in on herself under the weight of Sonic's furious words. "Freeing Shorty was... we wouldn't have been able to do that ourselves. If the armor hadn't overloaded like it did, he'd still be trapped in it, and we can't repeat the same circumstances with Scourge. Robotnik didn't finish, but that just means we have a chance. It might not be possible. I won't know if we can do it until I try."

"Let me try. I've broken enough of Robotnik's stuff before. If that armor isn't on him right, it should be simple enough to crack it open and get him out."

"You can't. The armor has all kinds of wires attached to him, even if they're not completely connected right, and if you rip them out, you could seriously hurt him. Shortfuse got lucky, but if we're doing it, we have to be careful. It's a delicate process; one wrong move and-"

"I get the picture," Sonic snapped. His foot started tapping impatiently. "So when do you start."

Tekno closed her eyes. Maybe she was taking a deep breath; it was hard to tell when Scourge couldn't hear properly. "I need to run a few more scans. See exactly where the armor is hooked up to him, and where I can open it without triggering some sort of trap. Robotnik has probably changed the schematics since he made Shortfuse's armor, and there's no way he'll make it easy for us to open the armor without putting one of us at risk. It... it might take a few days-"

"A few days? You can't leave him like this for days!"

"I don't have a choice, Sonic! We can't risk hurting him! A few days is my best estimate when I don't even know for sure we can get the armor off him at all!"

"I'm right here," Scourge snarled, and immediately regretted it. Inside the armor, his voice was the same as always, but through the armor, it came out wrong, like a shitty filter had been put over it, so what came out of his mouth and what came out of the speakers were totally different, and it was jarring to hear them at the same time. He hated it. Hated the way the stupid armor didn't even give him the dignity of his voice. It didn't physically hurt, but the sharp combination was agony enough the first time he heard it it deterred him from speaking as much as possible. He didn't need further reminders of his situation.

Tekno shrank in on herself, casting Scourge that guilty look he hated. "Sorry. We're not trying to talk over you."

"Would it go faster if you had Robotnik's schematics?" Amy cut in.

"Probably, yes. I'll still need to run some scans, but it'll be easier if I can see what I'm dealing with so I'm less likely to find a nasty surprise."

"Okay. Sonic-"

"Don't need to tell me twice. D'ya think they're in the place we just trashed, or somewhere else?"

"Either that or one of his factories. Megatal is rare and difficult to work with, so there should only be one, maybe two factories that have it. I don't know if he'd store the schematics in his factory servers, though," Tekno said.

"I can go too," Tails said, hesitantly raising his hand. "Tekno's been teaching me a few things, I could maybe help find them."

"Sure, whatever. Anything we find on that armor, we'll bring along, not just the schematics. You two stay here and work on... whatever it is you need to to get him out of there." Sonic turned to Scourge, trying so hard to appear casual and failing miserably. "You coming, Scourge?"

He wanted to. Fuck, he wanted to. He was fucking furious. He'd missed out on all the action when Sonic came to his rescue, still dazed and shocked from being stuffed into armor, and he hadn't gotten the chance to kick the shit out of Robotnik's machines to blow off some steam.

But inside the armor, his movements were clunky. The metal containing him was heavy, every step he took was uncoordinated, and he felt like he had no depth perception with his only window to the outside world being this stupid fucking screen. He'd overheard some of Robotnik's monologuing, enough to know the cybernik armor packed a punch and boasted all kinds of cool and heavy weapons, but none of those were his style. He didn't want weapons he hadn't chosen. Didn't want to adapt to a new style of fighting, even temporarily, if it meant losing his speed.

Technically, he wasn't helpless. The armor would make him a heavy hitter in battle. If there was a single scrap of silver lining to this disaster, it was that, for everything else the armor had taken from him, it hadn't left him defenseless.

But without his speed, without his quills... fuck, it was so stupid, and he didn't even want to think it in case it got him worked up, but... it reminded him of the Zone Jail.

As much as he wanted to snap Robotnik's fucking neck, Scourge wasn't a complete idiot. If he went out like this now, fighting wouldn't calm him down. It would only piss him off. Or worse.

"Nah," he said. His filtered voice grated on his ears. "I'm not standing around while you and Fluffball dick around fumbling your way through gettin' some computer files, and there'll be nothing there to trash considerin' you wrecked the joint on your way out."

Sonic's ear twitched again. It wasn't like Scourge to turn down a mission, especially not after he'd been wronged, and they both knew it. "Suit yourself."

"You can get down now," Tekno said. She averted her eyes the second Scourge looked in her direction. "I think I should wait to get those schematics before I run any further tests. Sonic, I'll grab you a pen drive or something to transfer a copy of the files to. Maybe you can take a copy of Kintobor with you."

"Whatever," Sonic muttered, yanking the wires out of Scourge's armor and helping him down. "Pixel Brain, get your things ready quick. Move it."

Scourge was yanked down the hallway after Sonic before he could hear an answer; he hadn't even noticed Sonic was holding his arm. Sonic marched down the hallway with him, face like thunder.

Scourge should say something. He normally would.

But what the fuck was he supposed to say? He didn't want to admit just how much this whole thing scared the shit out of him, but if Sonic couldn't do a convincing job at pretending everything was normal, neither could Scourge. How could he pretend everything was normal when he was stumbling over his own feet and barely able to keep up with Sonic?

Fuck. Scourge bared his teeth, flicked his ears, felt them hit the inside of the armor encasing him. Sonic could normally read him like a book, but trapped in the armor like this, all of his body language was hidden away. And it was hot, and claustrophobic, and Scourge had never cared about the environment the way Sonic and Prime seemed to, but right then, he'd give anything to go outside and feel the wind in his face, or the sun on his skin, or even the rain pelting down on his fur.

"Don't listen to Tekno," Sonic said suddenly. "She doesn't know what she's talking about. Might not be possible my arse. If we gave up every time things looked a little bit hopeless, we'd never get anything done. You'd think she'd know better than that by now."

Tekno knew what she was talking about better than any of them. Mechanics were her thing.

But Sonic was stubborn. That was his thing. And so far, it had never steered Scourge wrong.

"We'll get you out of there," Sonic said, turning towards Scourge. He must have gotten his emotions under control, because he was the picture of confidence. "No matter how long it takes, we won't give up until we figure something out. Don't worry."

The picture of confidence, except for that damn ear twitching, trying to fold back. Trying and failing, because Sonic wouldn't let it. Because he never let anyone see that he was scared. Not even his own boyfriend.

Scourge normally admired that, but this time, he couldn't help but hate it. He just wanted one fucking glimpse that Sonic was as scared as he was.

"We'll be back soon. Shouldn't take long. If you change your mind about joining us, better let me know quick, or meet us there."

Scourge swallowed. He wasn't going to change his mind. "Sure."

"Don't be like that." Sonic pulled them to a stop. He took Scourge's hands in his; his knuckles flexed like he was squeezing them tight. "I'll fix this. I promise."

That was the most genuine thing he'd said all day. I promise. There was the conviction all his other confident statements had lacked. It should have been a reassurance.

But Scourge couldn't feel Sonic's hands. He couldn't feel the thumb rubbing the back of his robotic hand reassuringly. Didn't even dare squeeze back, in case he misjudged his strength and squeezed hard enough to break.

He thought back to the Prime Zone, and roboticization, and for the first time, wondered if Jules ever felt this way when Prime tried to give him a hug, or if he kept them at arms length to avoid feeling this way at all.

"You'd better," Scourge said, and wished it sounded as teasing as he wanted it to. "You owe me dinner, remember? I can't eat like this."

"Yeah, yeah." Sonic's smile was too wide, too sharp. Too vicious at the reminder of Scourge's condition. "Don't get your knickers in a twist. You'll be out of there before you know it."

Scourge hoped so. He really, really hoped so.

Sonic's ear twitched and flicked backwards; not in anger, or fear, but like he was listening to something. Or someone. And Scourge was envious all over again.

"Be back in a bit," Sonic said, flexing his knuckles - squeezing Scourge's hands - one last time before he disappeared in a blue blur.

Scourge swallowed down another angry scream as he watched him go, sick with jealousy that he couldn't keep up with Sonic even if he wanted to.

Yoo thought of a headcanon scenario, where Scourge somehow dreams about his super form[s] one night. 

His interaction with if it was the good Super form the opportunity to at least make a compromise would be fumbled so hard due to their clashing mindsets. And they’re both stubborn as hell in changing their tune. Shit definitely goes out the window when Super looks at Scourge the same way Prime looked at him when he got tricked into powering down saying something along the lines of, “What fucking goals do you even have, Scourge? At least I want to help people be something bigger and better than just being mean.” You can imagine how well Scourge takes it hearing the all too familiar words. So tragically, nothing really gets solved between them, just strengthened feelings of resentment and the need to fight for control when they can. 

Evil Super would however, strike a deal. 

He finds Scourge and his friends very entertaining. Why ruin that? He’s also seen Super Sonic being contained/in his eyes, become a withered shell of his former self, so it might be partially for his own self-preservation as well. He is chaos but so are they. One frightful dream ass-beating later (wasn’t even pissed at Scourge, who despite tried throwing hands like the green bozo he is, he just did it because he can), he offers his hand the way Scourge did with Prime, promising not to kill them only if… honestly idfk something like this???

“The road goes both ways, y’know. You’re full of untapped potential. To keep things running around on this stupid little planet, how about you acknowledge me as my own person? Don’t you even think getting rid of me. Then everyone can continue to rock on this universe, doing as we please. What do you say?”

Just simple acknowledgement as their own person and leave him as he is i guess.

He takes the deal [?] but….Scourge, how are you going to explain to everyone else that you can’t get rid of this super form like Sonic has done? On top of that, better count your lucky stars that your super form never gets bored one day.

who knows maybe Scourge finds another way to stabilize things before that happens maybe- hey wait a second how about a deal for the fucking ankles—

Scourge and a good super form would throw hands. I mean Scourge is throwing hands either way but he would throw hands even faster, and then proceed to tell everyone about the dream bc that is Not Normal even for chaos energy. I think the idea of a super form gaining sentience without being split from Scourge first would freak Sonic out and he'd make it a priority to try and suppress that chaos energy or get it out of Scourge entirely. Here's to hoping they could get it out of Scourge without it coming to life like Super did, though, or it would probably view Scourge as a villain to be dealt with. And, by extension, would have to fight the rest of the freedom fighters, too

I could see an evil super form trying to make a deal, but I also don't know if Scourge would trust it?? His instinct is to distrust and assume people are lying to him or trying to manipulate him, so even if he did take a deal, I don't think he'd trust his super form to hold up his end of the deal. He probably wouldn't tell the freedom fighters or Sonic about it, and he'd brush off any attempts to get rid of his chaos energy so his super form doesn't have an excuse to try and backstab him, but I think he'd be prepared for betrayal anyway and put back-up plans of his own in place. Scourge doesn't always think things through, but he isn't stupid; he'd be well aware he'd be entirely reliant on his super form's mercy, and he'd hate that. So he'd come up with a plan, even if he didn't tell Sonic about it

Y’know I think evil Super Scourge being slightly nicer to Scourge makes a funny contrast to Sonic’s.

Good Super would be the type to rid of Scourge’s superior fashion taste.

The irony of an evil Super Scourge being nicer to Scourge than the "good" Super Scourge... the evil one at least has his priorities about himself in order. C'mon man we can't destroy the world with an achilles heel. Get better shoes so I can wreck shit easier. The good one however is like "mmm no it's okay if this body gets fucked up for the Greater Good. Also this fashion taste is shit x" and Scourge would be Suffering. At least evil is familiar to him, but goodness? It's making him do nice things (blech) and it's trying to get rid of everything good in his life (his jacket) literally where is the fucking upside. Injustice. Sonic doesn't know how good he's got it (Sonic is 0.4 seconds away from strangling him for saying that)

Archie’s chaos energy isn’t screwed up like the Fleetway universe. True. But still very much insane in terms of power and ability. It’s given to the rise of entities like Perfect Chaos, fused Tikal + Chaos, Enerjak, Chaos Knuckles, and Turbo Tails. And ofc Super forms. Could grant wishes and immortality. Capability to warp time and space to the point of rewriting reality entirely. Which I assume the Super Genesis Wave never happens in your canon thank goodness otherwise RIP to everyone.

…And Scourge took power from the damn Master Emerald. 

So much possibilities for him based on the bonkers lore that is Archie and the potential was squandered. Understandable since he’s not a hero and HAS to lose. That being said, it can be argued in-universe reasons that Scourge is just very ignorant to what he can do. For all his power and speed, he’s simply not pushed to his limits the same way his Prime counterpart was. His skills are not honed as they should be. It’s canon that he doesn’t consider the capabilities/consequences of using power sources or what he ‘can do’ until Sonic spells these things out for him. Your Sonic had to come up with the idea of vibrating through handcuffs in which Scourge latched on the knowledge immediately from there.  Not always the critical thinker but fast learner indeed.

And ah yes, Scourge becoming good this way is terrifying. Characters that forcibly go under personality changes like this has been a long running concept in fictional media and it always hits hard on how horrible it is to have your mind manipulated to the point where you’re no longer you. I guess it’s a questionable last resort for the truly despicable, but for someone like Scourge..…why condemn him to such a fate ? 

Which leads me to another way on what a good Super Scourge would be like. 

As much Super Scourge is nice, starting off, he has a rather simplistic view on the concept of doing good. He’s no killer but lacks the understanding that people are pretty complicated. His first course of action would be to boot Sonic off the team. If Sonic is still stuck with his own Super form then he would forcefully separate Sonic’s Super form from him claiming he’s saving Sonic. Only to be surprised by Sonic still being an ass by default. 

He could be hostile to even pacifistic Super Sonic, simply because chaos energy conflict bullshit, attempt to absorb him.  Overall, it takes time to get a grasp on how not everything is painted black and white. With the added risk of being manipulated too, develop a more warped sense of good, the FF have to be really really vigilant with him on this.

Super Sonic gets more destructive the more chaos energy he absorbs. Super Scourge absorbing more energy, gives him the opportunity to do more good. Absolutely radiating. Then there’s the thought of going off to save other universes. He would leave the fleetway universe continuously absorbing the plentiful chaos energy the multiverse has to offer, not realizing his mission will be an endless one. Cue the bitter tears from Sonic, because that��s gonna be a long daaaayyyy to retrieve him. And probably Sonic spitting some vile words after, since he lacks the ability to cope with loss too well. He’s got the bloody receipts with Porker fully leaving the team & Johnny dying.

Scourge would be torn internally by this too because although it was through involuntary circumstances, he was gonna ‘leave for the greater good’ over Sonic in an eerily similar way his father had chose his peace making work over him.

Assuming the chaos energy works the same as it does to Sonic but with a collision of multi-universe chaos energy mix here, then an Evil Super Scourge wouldn’t be like Sonic’s. He would be truly unpredictable. The embodiment of doing whatever he wants when he wants it. A fickle little shit. Moods like a light switch. No one knows if he means what he says. The scariest thing when dealing with this Super Scourge is that he actually knows what kind of powers he has. Not a universe ender though, can’t ‘enjoy’ life and its chaos if you’re wiping everything off of existence.

Sharing Scourge’s arrogance to the extreme, Super doesn’t look for chaos energy to sustain himself because he always thinks he has enough, so he often burns himself out pretty fast. Other times transforming back would either out of sheer boredom, getting tricked, Scourge shakily taking back control, or seeing Sonic who makes him feel extremely miserable to where he just crumbles.

It could be he’s aware he comes from a Sonic. Triggering a sense of worthlessness for him. Or he has a soft spot for him. Idk. Unpack that suitcase of dynamics with him/FF and psychological issues when you can.

He could be envious of Super Sonic for at least he has consistent things to latch onto even if they’re simple and boring to him. (destroy everything/ live life at the Groovy Train). Because he’d partially share Scourge’s apathy towards things. Think of Anti Sonic when he got apathetic after overthrowing Anti King Max and got everything he wanted in the moment. That’s where I’m getting that aspect from.

As for his opinion on Scourge, bygones are always gonna be bygones since in the end, it was thanks to him he could exist to do what he wants. I also rather see your own interpretation on how he would treat Scourge. Geez imagine the new emotional issues and setbacks. If it’s by will? haha, yeah noo, let’s put a lid on this guy. almost forever. Fuck you Sonic why does your dimension have to be such a shitty plac—

If there’s no risk of transforming into either of these personas, then I like to think Scourge could maybe like re-stabilize the energy in Sonic’s universe one day. Bend the rules a bit with them. He’d be so ecstatic they both transform at will with no consequences (Screaming at the top of his lungs “TAKE THAT PRIME I JUST FIXED A UNIVERSE IN A WAY YOU NEVER COULD AND WE GOT COOL SUPER FORMS OUT OF IT”)  Or be very well be dragged in and consumed by it in a way no one is gonna expect.

sigh, I really wish we knew more about anarchy energy because Scourge is likely made of it originally, and it’s a miracle that the energy he absorbed wasn’t incompatible. The smallest way these energies probably did overlap canonically is through cosmetic change so far, if the whole green to purple invert palette is anything to take away from.

Basically the point is it’s like what Zonic says about Scourge,

“Besides, Scourge’s mutation has made him something of a wild card in the cosmic scheme of things.”

So I very much like that you aren’t planning to stick to one set of rules to how the super forms would work because you’re right. YOU’RE SO RIGHT. There’s no official answers on how all of this would even work! This is the sheer beauty of writing whatever the fuck you want. It’ll be thrilling to see what kind of stories you’d make up with that in mind.

Let Scourge be the cosmic wildcard.

I love the idea that Scourge doesn't actually know all the things he's capable of because he doesn't push himself the same way Sonic does, so you're right he very well could have abilities that even he doesn't know about. Would he discover them while in a super form? Or would his super form share his strategy of "brute force the way through everything" and continue to never discover any neat hidden powers? Who knows... good for Sonic if Scourge's super form is evil, though. Super Sonic is already a pain with everything he can do, so while a Super Scourge would also be a pain, it'd be easier if he was oblivious to some of the devastating things he can do

Oh my god Scourge flying off to "save the multiverse".... god Sonic would not take that well. You're right, he hates it when people leave him, even when they have good reason to (ie Porker) so for Scourge to leave him? He'd hate it. He has his own dimension to protect, he doesn't have time to care about what's going on in other universes, especially since those other dimensions presumably have their own Sonic to take care of things. I imagine he'd try to hide how hurtful he finds it, though... at least until they finally catch up to Scourge and Scourge puts up a fight and argues about how he doesn't want to go back. And the freedom fighters are desperately trying to tread carefully, because Scourge could bolt at any time and it's such a pain to pin him down, but Sonic would not be as tactful as the rest of their friends. You make a really interesting comparison between Scourge leaving "for the greater good" and the way his father chose peace over him, although I don't know if he'd be in a state to come to that conclusion himself in his super form. As his regular self, definitely, but idk about in a super form. I could absolutely see Sonic spitting that comparison at him, however; he's not above low blows, and Super Scourge isn't the Scourge he knows and loves, so if he's already lashing out, I could absolutely see him making some kind of vile comment about it. Something something "you're becoming just like your daddy, I see" or something along those lines

I love the idea of Super Scourge's arrogance meaning he burns out quickly, because I can absolutely see that happening. I think it would be difficult to trick him into powering down, because as you said, he's a fast learner, and Prime Sonic has already tricked him into powering down once, so he'd notice if the freedom fighters tried that, but I do think it would be possible. I think Sonic would struggle a little with tricking him, not because he's not smart or capable of tricking people, but because he's actually at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the freedom fighters. He's never had to calm someone down from a transformation, after all; the only times he has (to my memory) fought a super form was after he and Super were separated, where Super powering down wasn't an option. The solutions were to trick and trap him, or try and find some way to fight him, so Sonic's knee-jerk reaction is to fight. The rest of the freedom fighters, though? They have experience in this kind of stuff. They've had practice in bringing Sonic down from his super form; the time when Tails managed it by using Sonic's ego against him to trick him into solving the problem for them comes to mind. So they'd already have a few tricks up their sleeves - notably tricks Scourge probably hasn't seen, and thus he'd be more likely to fall for them. I also think his super form would have trouble thinking ahead, so while he'd recognise if someone tried an identical plan to Prime Sonic's, he'd most likely fall for other tricks that have a similar effect but are executed differently. So the freedom fighters would actually be pretty good at handling this situation

I think one of the hardest things for Sonic is that feelings don't translate when someone is under the influence of chaos energy. Like, Sonic loves his friends even if he's shit at showing it, but he was more than willing to kill them when he was super. So Scourge's feelings for him likely wouldn't be enough to make him change back, especially if he's evil and possibly even if he's good. I think it would frustrate him knowing he can't get through to Scourge by appealing to his feelings, because those feelings don't matter when he's in his super form

I think Sonic would think he can cope with it better than he can because his other knee-jerk reaction is to see Super Scourge as a completely separate person to Scourge, which is simultaneously easy for him and way more difficult than expected. Super Sonic is (now) a separate person, after all, so it stands to reason he'd see Super Scourge the same way. But I don't think he'd be prepared for how little that separation helps him. I think he almost definitely makes some kind of comment about how Super Scourge "isn't really Scourge" which will inevitably piss Scourge off. Having his identity as Scourge dismissed would hurt even in regular form, so in a super form, that would be multiplied. Especially since, well, Super Scourge is Scourge. Just not the one they all know and love. Super Sonic was still Sonic in the beginning, after all, and only really became his own person after the split. But Sonic has gotten comfortable with the idea of super forms being separate people entirely, so of course that's how he'll treat Super Scourge. Needless to say, I don't think that will go down well, no matter if Scourge is good or evil in his super form

I LOVE the idea of Scourge accidentally being the antidote who can stabilise chaos energy. Normally the chaos emeralds need specific conditions to be stabilised, but imagine if Scourge could act as a replacement for those conditions... I think Sonic would both be thrilled at having a super form he can actually control, and be wary about it. I think he knows he could do a lot of good if he could just control his super form, but I think even if he got a super form he could control, transforming or seeing his fur start to turn yellow would lowkey still make him panic and instinctively try to shut it down. I think it would take him a long time to get over that.

I had a vague thought about Sonic using a dark form like we see in Sonic X in order to get around this and take advantage of all the negative emotions he has around turning super, but that is like, ultimate self indulgent daydreaming lol so probably nothing I will ever elaborate further on

Also, even if Scourge could stabilise chaos energy, chances are Porker would want to run experiments on that, and I can't imagine Scourge would be too happy about playing guinea pig (this would not stop him from bragging to Prime about how he fixed an entire dimension's chaos energy)

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT ZONIC CALLING SCOURGE A COSMIC WILD CARD honestly that makes this whole scenario even more interesting and demonstrates just how much he could shake up the rules just by going super. Like we really took someone who is already making even the zone cops go "yeah idfk what's going on with this one man" and dumped him in the universe with more volatile chaos energy than normal. What a combination fdhsafhjdsa. Also this makes me wonder how much of a headache poor Zonic would have if Scourge ever did go super with the fleetway emeralds. Especially if he was good and went zooming off trying to "save" the multiverse, because you can guarantee that behaviour would catch the attention of the zone cops. Creating yet another obstacle for Sonic and the rest of the freedom fighters. Honestly the more I talk about this the more I think about things that Sonic would add to his list of "reasons why Scourge should never go super" lmao
