Pride Dragons Merchandise Kickstarter: Back NOW!

Our Kickstarter campaign to make stickers, magnets, key chains, earrings, washi tape, and lanyards out of ten adorable Pride-flag-themed dragons by Florilège has launched!

These precious, playful, cat-like dragons are in the colors of the polyamorous pride flag, the genderfluid pride flag, the bisexual pride flag, the Gilbert Baker pride flag, the intersex-inclusive progress pride flag, the pansexual pride flag, the demigender pride flag, the genderqueer pride flag, the aroace pride flag, and the non-binary pride flag! We’re now in the final 48 hours of our crowdfunding campaign for Missed Fortunes by Tris Lawrence, and we’re still 17% from our goal – only $300 to see us hit our pre-order goal! like i'm sorry but we as a fandom have to stay firm on our anti-AI values. we cannot suddenly start giving AI a pass when it's something we "want to see" like destiel kisses. it's not suddenly fine. we're not going to start using AI to make fanfic scenes come to life or audio AI to make characters "say" stuff we want to hear. you have GOT to be firm on your anti-AI stance. if you start making exceptions then suddenly anything will fly. fandom is for real art and creations made by real people. no AI fanfics. no AI art. no AI rendered "bonus" scenes. no AI audio. none of it has a place here.

So I saw this on Pinterest and came to find you to let you know I was inspired by this! My dad just got a 3d printer (and is at that point where he will print literally anything I ask for) so I modeled a Kirk (in NomadSculpt), printed, painted and found/made some tribbles!

Announcing the 2025 Destiel Wedding Anniversary Valentines Zine!

About the event:

A fan zine to celebrate Destiel's 4th wedding anniversary and the importance of fandom and community!

We do not intend to make any money through this, and will be offering as low-cost options as possible for the final project (a free e-zine, a low-cost option for printing it yourself, and/or a higher-quality physical copy). Should there be any leftover funds after production & shipping costs, we plan to donate any money to a charity (TBD - if you have a suggestion please let us know!).

We will be posting more info about how to order the zine at a later date!

The goal of this event is to create a place to come together as a community during this particularly difficult time. Such an important part of survival is community, and we wanted to create a way to foster connections, offer support, and celebrate the joy in life that feeds resilience & our day-to-day survival.

About the discord server:

Join us on the Destiel V-Day Zine 2025 discord "rehearsal dinner"! Our goal for the discord is to create chances to form connections with others in the fandom (through regular ice breaker convo topics), to share your creative projects, and as a community resource.

You do not need to join the discord to participate in the event, and you do not need to be contributing to the zine to join in! Everyone is welcome!

Submission Ideas:

prose & poetry (2-3 page limit)

graphics, collages, and edits

valentines

playlists

gift registries or other wedding planning materials

fandom histories

and anything else you can think of (that can be printed in a physical zine)

Please note that the e-zine will be available in both full color & black and white, but the physical copy is currently planned to be in black and white in order to keep costs down.

We will post more details about submission guidelines at a later date. Templates may be provided for some submission types, like gift registries or playlists.

Please send all submissions to 2025destielweddingzine@gmail.com with whatever contact info you'd like your submission listed under (ex: preferred name and tumblr username).

Submissions will be accepted until end of day February 14th 2025.

Contributors are welcome to submit more than one piece, but depending on interest, we may need to limit contributions to one per person. In the event that this is necessary, we will reach out to you after submissions close to confirm which you'd like included in the official printed zine.

You are encouraged to post your submissions on February 14th & to tag us/send them to us to share!

Cover Reveal for A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”

HAPPY COVER REVEAL DAY! Duck Prints Press’s next anthology, A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, will be crowdfunding starting November 20th, 2024. We’ve been hard at work on this collection for a loooong time and we are thrilled to finally be making it available for y’all. The gorgeous cover art, made by artist Aceriee, was inspired by the classic 1898 “peacock edition of Pride and Prejudice – but of course, we made it queerer. The spectacular full cover is wrap around.

(spoilers: this art will be offered a postcard as one of the Kickstarter campaign backer rewards!)

This awesome book features 21 stories each up to 5,000 words long and 20 full-page color artworks. Our campaign features six merch items, too, with peacocks standing proud on much of the art.

Author Applications for “Scholarly Pursuits” are Now Open!

Duck Prints Press is overjoyed to announce that now, July 15 2024, through July 27th, author applications are now open for our 11th anthology, Scholarly Pursuits: A Queer Anthology of Cozy Academia Stories!

Are you a fanfiction author? Have you been wanting to break into publishing your original fiction?

If the answer to both these questions is “yes,” then this may be the perfect opportunity for you! Duck Prints Press (the spiffy indie press founded by fandom author unforth to publish the original work of fancreators) is looking for up to 20 authors – ten who’ve worked with us before, ten who never have – to write all-new, original stories, 2,500 to 5,000 words long, for a minimum pay of $50 per story! What will these stories be about? In short, cozy academia. In slightly-less-short, we want to read your pitches for stories about queer people pursuing knowledge and the places where they are pursuing that knowledge, all with a fluffy, cozy academia. Think “the opposite of dark academia.” What exactly that means, well, we’re open to your imaginative interpretations!

Every pitch must include:

Setting: Academia

People: Queer folks

Genre: Speculative fiction

Relationships: Any or none

Happy ending required!
