This station is where bankers/breakers Locomotives are attached/detached which will help train to ascend the ghats seen in the background. The 'Braganza Ghats'. Castle Rock is the station where Braghanza Ghats ends. Kathgodam, a railway station located in the foothills of Shivalik, the lower Himalaya Kathgodam, the literal meaning of this word is 'Warehouse of Wood' is one the the last Railway Station of India and also one the most beautiful Railway Station I've ever visited in my life. People going to Nainital Deboard here and from here they get bus/taxi which drops them to Nainital. Taxi fare varies from Rs 60 to Rs 100 and distance from Station to Nainital is just 35 kilometres I've got a lot of memories to be shared, so stay tuned! Clicking this shot was the most thrilling experience of my life So me and Ron were exploring Dudhsagar, Braganza Ghats at the Karnataka - Goa border. We went inside of a tunnel since we had already planned to click a picture like this. And before I say anything please do know there was ample space to stand at a safe distance from the train. So we went there and waited for a train to come and voila, soon a train came but we missed the shot so we waited some more time and that's how one hour got passed, but no train showed up. Then suddenly we heard a honking followed by a beam of light from the tunnel. We got ready and clicked this shot📸 Why it was a thrilling experience? This tunnel is over 100 years old (correct me if I'm wrong) So when train comes you can feel the vibration, the sound wave coming out from those dual, sometimes triple, sometimes quadruple EMD Locomotives. That was an experience we all Railfans crave for! When train was passing, Ron actually covered his ears and me and Ron were looking at each other in glee like- 'WOW'. Isn't it @railboyron ? By the way, to my fellow Railfans planning to visit this place I'd say plan it soon because the day is not far when you'll find elocos roaming around here. But do mind do not go before September if you don't want to face any trouble since it's officially closed for tourists these days. My Bucket Shot - Dudhsagar Falls, The Sea of Milk The literal meaning of this name is 'Dudh Ka sagar' and I hope this picture communicates well, why it's called Dudh ka Sagar This waterfall is situated on the Goa - Karanatka border and the beauty is at peak when you visit it in monsoon but risk of landslides is also at it's peak during this season. Gentlemen, you're looking at one of the most rare, yet fastest alco 🚂locomotive of Indian Railways. WDP 3 aka The 'Toaster' Wondering why it's called toatser? The reason why they're called toaster and why they were discontinued very soon, is same. After working for hours the cab 2 of this locomotive used to get too heated and during summers the loco pilots get almost toasted. This is the Railway employees Started calling it 'Toaster' But mind you, this Locomotive made the history. Our current fastest train is Gatiman Express with a top speed of whopping 160 km/h. This Locomotive which was made in 1990s was capable of pulling a train at 160 km/h. That's a different thing we didn't have train rakes to run at that speed and neither we had tracks to support that speed. If we look at present they have almost disappeared. There was a time when they used to haul India's longest running Rajdhani Trivandrum Rajdhani. There was a time they used to haul India's first Tejas Express but now they are doing the shunting work in CR region. But, here in our NR they're still used for hauling few passenger trains.
