Tadaaaa. I am the guest artist for ALL OF JUNE at the @offcentregallery a Tasmanian Arts Collective on the ground floor of the @salamancaartscentre in Salamanca place Hobart. I have just dropped off a selection of my work to the gallery, including this pair of fabulously dotty head vases/planters. I stopped procrasti-twiddling and even wrote a suitably coherent artist statement. Yay me. #DiabolicalClay #TasmanianCeramics #SalamancaArtsCentre #TasDesigned #AustralianCeramics

About 20 years ago I bought a broken leadlight mirror from an op shop. I slid it underneath a cupboard in the bedroom where it would be safe and mentally added it to my 'to do' list. 12 months ago I asked Jeff if he could attach the mirror to a bit of wood for me so I could think about fixing it. Ever practical, Jeff used half a tube of silicon sealant as glue and stuck the mirror onto a really heavy bit of chipboard. I think I mumbled thankyou at him through gritted teeth as I tried to work out how to remove silicon from glass. This weekend I decided to just paint the bloody thing and be done with it. But first I had to glue paper over the siliconey bits so the paint would stick. Here are some photos of my progress so far.

I could spend a lifetime chasing textures such as these beauties which evolved all on their own while I was away at #claygulgong2018 Seems such a shame to ruin their intricate beauty BUT I do quite like the coffee cup they grew in. #studiouncensored #australianceramics #DiabolicalClay

Snake Hooks. Sky Hooks. Pot Hooks. No idea where I am going with these yet. I made the first couple of hooks to be used as hook shaped lizard ladders for my large water lily pots. Now I am thinking about other possibilities. Be an artist they said, will be interesting they said, they were correct. #australianceramics #tasmanianceramics #garden

Kiln fillers, components, fripperies, leftovers, works in waiting? No idea really. These little bits were made for #Desolata but never fired because I didn't need them then. I fired the rocket kiln this week for @roo_be_ and @scoutceramics and I had spaces to fill. So in went these fripperies and now I am thinking about the dystopia again, and an anthropocene sky. #australianceramics #tasmanianceramics

Three images snapped with my phone. 1. Fired plate unpacked just now. 2. Unglazed plate pre firing. 3.Detail of decoration. This plate was always going to be mine as I decorated it for me. Just to reinforce this decision there is a tiny bit of kiln junk on the surface which makes the plate unsaleable anyway. Ha. I love how the universe works. I declare this firing a success. PHEW. #australianceramics #DiabolicalClay #tasmanianceramics

The secret underside of the dystopian hearts. For those not in the know, we can simply call these ring dishes. Small heart dishes, somewhere to put your trinketty things, holders of stuff. But you and I know that these hearts whispered to me, old stories of bushfire and drought, of vanished fish and orange skies. Tomorrow they will be on my table at @themarkethobart scattered underneath my #DiabolicalClay sign, some people will see them and some people will not. But you have seen them now and that is enough.

I was happily decorating rainbow unicorns and thinking to myself, that if I tried really, really hard I could have some single colour heart dishes for @themarkethobart on Sunday as well. Haha one moment of lapsed concentration and in slips the dystopia. Bushfire fish and Anthropocene skies appear like magic. Cross your fingers people I am firing these in the rocket kiln today and have no idea how they will go. Magnificently I hope. #australianceramics #tasdesigned #DiabolicalClay

Mother Wallaby (pademelon) with joey in her pouch. I had fed these yard wallabies of mine over winter as there was no food. Now the Spring growth has started (phew) I can gradually reduce the amount of pellets I am giving them to zero. Background noises include the Water pump, birdsong and a final WOOF from Monty from inside the house. #Tasmania #kangaroosofinstagram

Black Dog In Snow. Monty would eat all the snow if he could. He stops when his tongue gets too cold.
